Incidentally, this is the first time I've been able to tolerate the Huffington Post. There's something about Trump winning that takes the snarky condescension out of their articles.
Don't worry deep down inside anyone that visits Huff Post hates themselves they are just projecting their anger. Not to psychoanalyze them but it's a classic case of it.

No one's saying Farmer John in Nevada can't mind his own business, he just shouldn't be a bigot while minding it unless he's in the privacy of his own home.
Who are you (or I) to say what he should or shouldn't be. If the farmer isn't physically harming anyone or violating someones property rights he can be as biggoted as he wants.
What about people on the other side? Should they only be allowed to express their opinion in the privacy of their own home? If you believe that, then why are you here, expressing your opinion in public?
There are a lot of reasons Farmer John should confine his bigotry to the inside of his own home.
So people should keep their lifestyle and opinions hidden to avoid being fired or killed. Gotcha.
It's better to keep it hidden within the privacy of your own home and stay safe and employable, than it is to run your mouth in public and end up fired or dead.
And before you have a conniption fit, yes, I do know people do die from having a viewpoint, but it's not as common as you think. It's big news because it happens so rarely.

If you don't know what their opinion is on the subject and they are encouraged to hide their true opinion, how do you make sure these types of people aren't interacting with your kids etc?
Say you have to choose between 2 people to run your local school. 1 is a biggot and the other isn't. Should the biggot be encouraged to keep his opinions quiet or would you rather they were open about their prejudice?
If the burger flipping farmer kept his opinions to himself he could be spitting in those burgers going out to minorities for years.
