If the HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE Trump protesters would have spent a quarter of that precious time campaigning for Hillary maybe she wouldn't have had her *** handed to her in the general election.

I honestly wonder how many of those people who are now protesting in the streets actually voted in the first place.

On a related note, how do you protest the results of an election like this? When you have the bulk of the national media, a vast majority of celebrities, far more money than the opposition, etc. and you still lose, there isn't anyone to blame but your own side for not getting the job done.

Yes but electoral college said you need more rural counties than urban to win. Popular vote be damned!

In all seriousness the fact it's a near 50/50 with slight edge in her favor is an indicator that we have two Americas at the dawn of 21st century that do not see eye to eye with the direction of the country. Coincidentally the U.K. had a similar phenomenon during the industrial revolution.

they can't. that's why she bowed out gracefully this morning. If they had half of a prosthetic leg to stand on there would have been tons of bitching, pissing, and moaning.

It's been a fun day consoling my buddies I won $20 off of though.

I feel like the electoral college gets slammed every time people compare it to popular vote. I think it does a decent job representing a mass of people across a huge mass of land.

That is the stupidest example I have ever seen.

"Hypothetically, a farmer has a side job from his full-time, practically 16 hour per day job."

I know most of you have never been outside your suburbs in your life, but farmers/ranchers are really the hardest, and oftentimes the most underpaid workers in America.

Unless you own a super-farm, farmers are generally not wealthy at all. At least, not for the amount of work they do.

I know you meant donated directly for the campaign but the bolded made me smile. It would be nice if it was that simple and Trump's entire life and image did nothing to help him win.

Trump is worth 9 billion? well I'm worth 10 billion! - Hillary
Campaigns in this case generally means the main victory funds and all Super PACs aligned with the candidate.

No one's saying Farmer John in Nevada can't mind his own business, he just shouldn't be a bigot while minding it unless he's in the privacy of his own home.

Who are you (or I) to say what he should or shouldn't be. If the farmer isn't physically harming anyone or violating someones property rights he can be as biggoted as he wants.

What about people on the other side? Should they only be allowed to express their opinion in the privacy of their own home? If you believe that, then why are you here, expressing your opinion in public?
Thorbean, let's say, hypothetically, Farmer John has a job away from his farm. It could be flipping burgers for a couple extra bucks. Word gets back to his boss that he's a bigot and his boss can choose to terminate him from his post. Or that someone of a given ethnic group he's said ***about gets a gun and decides to go off on him to shut his mouth for him.

There are a lot of reasons Farmer John should confine his bigotry to the inside of his own home.

So people should keep their lifestyle and opinions hidden to avoid being fired or killed. Gotcha.

Beyond that, candidates don't campaign to win the popular vote. They campaign to win the electoral college. Who's to say for sure that Dubya or Trump would have lost the popular vote if they had campaigned specifically to gain the most votes nationally? When people say that Gore/Clinton should have won based on the popular vote, it's not just moving the goalposts. It's changing the game entirely.

I thought that's the whole "progressive idea" about social affairs. Be proud about who you are and so forth.

Which is why I laugh at anyone who is "bigoted against the bigots."

Protests need a reason to not to work or school. They would protest anything just hand them a sign !

I go back and forth on this argument in my head, and it's not really cut and dry. I think the true hypocrisy occurs when people think it's okay to create a sweeping generalization about one group (e.g. poor, white Southerners), but get super offended when someone else does the same thing for a different group (e.g. poor, urban blacks).

Let's take a look at my beloved Huff Post see how they are reacting shall we !

You want sentimental sore loser type of mentality here you go !
"We are broken.

My heart breaks for the vast emptiness in the pit of my stomach I didn’t know existed before last night.

My heart breaks for the grief I feel and the grief I see bubbling up all around me.

My heart breaks for the women who woke up this morning knowing they live in a country that doesn’t think their bodies are their own.

My heart breaks for the women of color who have been so utterly let down by their white sisters.

My heart breaks for the two Muslim-American women I met last night who left Manhattan early because they feared for their physical safety more last night than they had in the wake of 9/11.

My heart breaks for the parents who had to wake up this morning and explain to their children that hate ― xenophobia, racism, sexism, homophobia ― had won.

My heart breaks for the children I don’t have, and now can’t imagine ever wanting to bring into this world.

My heart breaks for the girls who thought they would grow up under the first female president.

My heart breaks for the women who were born before the 19th Amendment was ratified and thought they would be able to see a woman president in their lifetimes.

My heart breaks for Hillary Clinton and every woman like her, women who have fought for decades for dreams they thought were possible, only to have them gutted by an unqualified hateful man.

My heart breaks for that “highest, hardest glass ceiling” we have yet to shatter.

My heart breaks for the anniversary of Kristallnacht, and the lessons we failed to learn.

My heart breaks for the moment of peace I tried to have with my female coworkers this morning, only to be interrupted by a burst of hatred from a white man.

My heart breaks for every person who woke up feeling a little less safe in the country they thought was theirs.

My heart breaks for the people who knew all too well that this is the America we have always lived in, the people whose warnings we did not heed.

My heart breaks for the America I created in my head that never really existed.

We are healing.

I heal a little when the man who drives me home in his taxi parks it to help me with the credit card machine as I begin to sob when it refuses to read my card.

I heal a little when he tells me, “I’m scared too,” as he helps me, a sobbing young woman, out of his taxi.

I heal a little when my work meets my humanity, and I find myself tearing up when two young women I interview tear up.

I heal a little when I see the good men in my life affirming the humanity of people who do not look like them.

I heal a little when I wake up to nine text messages that say “I love you.”

I heal a little when I get a text that simply says, “Women matter.”

I heal a little when I step onto the train platform and watch a busker, a middle-aged black man, sing “America” to soothe commuters.

I heal a little when I walk into my office and am immediately met with tight bear hugs, tears, more hugs, more tears, more love.

I heal a little when I think about the America we could build if we all loved a little harder and gave a *** a little more."
