That is why my stance should not be confused. If I just wanted to collect badges(and be the best there ever was), I would participate in Ack's tournament, would approve the voting contest thing since I'd have one from there too and post count would be in my favour as well.

I have over 10 years of experience with forum administration, so I take these matters with a rather pragrmatic look. Either way the decision isn't mine, but I like to give my suggestions since I'm a steady occupier of these halls.

When you post as your user account, that's the full total across all identities. The Seha count is the total.

I would do one, but i think the way i craft might not appeal to some people. I normally do the synth that has the most materials atm without regard for taking a loss.

I like the idea of badges but it has the potential of (lack of words) mission creep. You're going to award those who make guides, contests winners/organizers, possible art contributors. Are you going to include those who donate, ones who post news/updates of different games and stuff constantly? What about the people who post heavily that keep threads active like drac and josi?

If you just give badges to everyone who is simply active a lot there just is no point to have them to begin with. If people wanna show their activity postcount is right there visible.

None of those sites make a big deal out of the badges.
It's not like winning the Nobels Peace Prize or anything like that.
It's just something for fun, and everyone on the site has a few badges. I don't even know of any exclusive badges that only 1 person can have at a time.

Could give badges based on people's time spent on the website (years since registered), post count milestones, actual specific in-game achievements etc. Lots of ideas to get from there.

If you want to add a few super prestigious badges then make sure there are a lot of super easy to get badges as well for us commoners! ;)

As for the badge/no badge debate, I'm not really a fan of the concept. I think they're tacky, and highly facebook-esque. But if it happens and it makes others happy, so be it.
