Anybody still having issues with ro'ing and dcing? I'm eager to see if the issues have been resolved. Hoping to to dyna d later this evening I'm at work and haven't seen a recent post. It does say on the webbisye that the situations seems to have stabilised but that doenst sound reassuring to me.

It's been fine since last night for me. Not really a guarantee, but it was going down every 1-2hrs earlier so looks solid. My group plans to do dynamis tonight if no further issues by the evening.

It's just started again for me now. I was soloing cards in Omen and I got intermittent R0's and ended up being killed by a mandy because I couldn't fight back. The shame...

That article is from 2005. Months and months problem free, and you think they happen to get DDoSed at the exact same time they change out server equipment..?

That's exactly why I linked it, Chinese RMT have targeted SE before in retaliation to actions made against them, many times actually.
I don't follow news about FFXIV much, but was something done to them recently over there?

If it is in fact a DDoS, it is extremely coincidental that the first wave of r0s started shortly after their maintenance during which they were 'Exchanging network equipment' on the 17th, then once the issue was made known they did another maintenance for 'Exchange of server equipment' on the 23rd. May also be related to their translation team, but one would expect them to say Upgrade rather than exchange to put it in a more positive light.

There could be a scenario where the new equipment they changed out doesn't have the same level of DDoS protection or the configuration needed to prevent them.

Now about those fake mailbombs the liberals have been sending themselves...
Must be a regional thing. I have been logged with 5 characters all on the same pc since about 5pm EST yesterday with no issues. I am in Ohio.

The exact results depend on their network implementation, but that does not mean it is regional. As I stated yesterday, I had 12 characters logged in from the same PC/IP and 10 of them d/ced while the other 2 didn't.
If you've kept 5 characters logged in, consider yourself lucky. It is a very small sample size.

I think it's pretty obvious that the actual SE server are not getting directly DDoS'd. Somewhere from your PC, and everyone being affected, to SE servers it's being attacked and it'd indirectly causing request timeouts and the like.
Plenty of people are logged in, I've had 6 characters logged in since yesterday morning with zero dc's or r0's.
Now SE using DDoS attack as an excuse for shitty server maintenance is a completely different story.
