Noob MNK questions:

Why is accuracy such a big deal for MNK tp sets, and is there a cap the guide's sets have that isn't listed? There's also little/no comments of the other stats (sTP, SB, ect...) as part of the tp sets. It feels like the gear is mostly "grab all the accuracy gear!" Just confuses me when trying to gear between mega bosses and old content that doesn't have as high ACC requirements (unless I'm horribly wrong).

Also, food? Rcb or sushi or what?

I've mostly played DRG and SAM in the past, but wanted to try out MNK. Needless to say, MNKs gear differently than x-hit builds on my other jobs, and I'm lost.
Whenever you're trying to come up with an optimal set, you have to choose a context in which the set is meant to be optimal. Accuracy is just one of the easier stats to simplify sets around since a higher accuracy requirement is usually correlated with other stats being poor. There's not really any fundamental difference to MNK gearing vs x-hit jobs, StoreTP just isn't as impactful on MNK, e.g., notice the Hagneia Stone sneaking in when other more important stats aren't needed.

Your question is rather difficult to answer. It's not "a big deal", it's just something that sometimes you'll need, same as any other DD. There is no cap to the amount of accuracy you can have, but there's a limit to its effectiveness depending on the mob.

The gear shown in the sets in this thread have a bunch of accuracy thrown in to show how much you can add, and what gear gives you the best benefit along with the accuracy, and because accuracy is the single biggest 'situational' factor involved in choosing gear sets. It's still up to you to choose what's appropriate for the situation you're in, though. What you choose for mega bosses or old content depends on the usual ream of situational elements. Accuracy should largely be a non-concern for most stuff, aside from new Difficult+ battlefields, and some boss battles, for now.

Food: Use sushi if you need the accuracy, obviously. RCBs if you're going for high damage, though there's plenty of cheap food that you can use as well for lesser events. Again, this is no different than any other job.

I reviewed the gear a bit.

All the anchorite 1+ seem to suck except the hands for WS. For TP otronif is better. Only hands seem better than other options on VS.

The new crit dmg +10% set is gimp on VS.

The new mask (felistris mask) that gives TA+2% is best TP head slot.

The earing combo tripudio+brutal seems to beat baldeborn+steelflash on capped acc at least (not by much..).

Tried the new AA TT fight in easy-diffult and very difficult. Full time pdt (otronif) required, sushi and madrigals. easy and hard are doable; Very hard : couldn't beat it, and had to stack defender, minne 4/5 and bio II to even survive. The hard battle dropped a rare/ex leg for mages ilevel119.

My guess is that felistris mask comes from one of them.

The more accurate DPS math for MNK is as follows now:

DPS = [(H2H skill * 0.11 + 3 + DMG of weapon) * 60] / (280 + Delay of weapon) * 2 fists

Rigors: ((424 + 162) * 0.11 + 3 + 90) * 60 / (280 + 60) * 2 = 157.46 * 60 / 340 * 2 = 55.57
Ninzas +1: ((424 + 162) * 0.11 + 3 + 76 + 10 max augment) * 60 / (280 + 51) * 2 = 153.46 * 60 / 331 * 2 = 55.63
Maochinoli: ((424 + 177) * 0.11 + 3 + 110) * 60 / (280 + 96) * 2 = 179.11 * 60 / 376 * 2 = 57.16
Oatixur: ((424 + 228) * 0.11 + 3 + 126) * 60 / (280 + 96) * 2 = 200.72 * 60 / 376 * 2 = 64.06

R/E/Ms excluding Aftermath and hidden effect:

Glanzfaust: ((424 + 242) * 0.11 + 3 + 115) * 60 / (280 + 96) * 2 = 191.26 * 60 / 376 * 2 = 61.04
Vere: ((424 + 242) * 0.11 + 3 + 96) * 60 / (280 + 51) * 2 = 172.26 * 60 / 331 * 2 = 62.45
Spharai: ((424 + 242) * 0.11 + 3 + 116) * 60 / (280 + 86) * 2 = 192.26 * 60 / 366 * 2 = 63.04

Em. Baghnakhs (under 100% TP and WS): ((424 + 203) * 0.11 + 3 + 91) * 60 / (280 + 51) * 2 = 162.97 * 60 / 331 * 2 = 59.08

Does the MNK spreadsheet not calculate Impetus properly during TP? I cannot find a situation where the Tantra Cyclas +2 is outperforming Thaumas Coat. Also, do people actually have both +2 Crit and +2 DA augmented Otronif? It's hard to decide which I should keep since they both have their pros and cons (and I also have Koga.)

Crit+ otronif favors koga, so I'd go with that if you're only doing 1 set.

Anchorite's Hose +1 has 19 vit. At least it's got a chakra use. I haven't seen any pants we can wear with higher vit.

Been using Tantra Cyclas +2, Cetl Belt, Quiahuiz Leggings for TP when Impetus up and songs/rolls on; and Tantra body for VS...
Should I stop doing that? Only use them when highly buffed.

When did that change? Or has this guide been wrong the whole time?

And btw, is Jinjo still active? The OP is like two patches outdated now.

I don't have the spreadsheet at work. I get blocked from accessing Google Docs. If someone can email it to me that would be sweet. I figured I would try to piece together some sets for high level targets. Going to assume neither attack nor fstr are capped. I'll edit my post as I add more sets and/or get corrected on my mistakes.

Otronif needs to be augmented with 2% crit to be better than alternatives.
All Manibozho items assume R15 strength path
Didn't make an alternative for Impetus body because AF3+2 is too easy.
Any slot can be changed with it's alternative without changing other slots except that you cannot gain crit from both rancorous mantle and rancor collar at the same time.

Victory Smite with Impetus Up
ItemSet 316840
Need Verification:
Potestas > Tantra Tathlum?
Anchorite +1 > Otronif with +2 crit?

Victory Smite Alternatives
ItemSet 316995
Some other alternatives include:
Otronif items with DA > Anchorite +1 items > Manibozho items > Anchorite NQ items
Atheling Mantle
Prosilio Belt or Black Belt

Victory Smite Accuracy Substitutes
ItemSet 316993

Victory Smite with Impetus Down
You pretty much want the same gear except for the body:
Otronif Harness with crit augment or DA augment
Anchorite's Cyclas +1
Manibozho Jerkin
Espial Gambison
Anchorite's Cyclas

**Would love to get some feedback on this. I pretty much went off the top of my head. Not having the spreadsheet at work is more annoying than I thought, lol

Tantra Tathlum for capped attack (common situation for alliance wide content.)
Accuracy set R15 Manibozho Jerkin and Achorite's Mantle should be better in those given situations (non alliance type content with limited support/debuffing. Single AA bcnm come to mind where you aren't likely capping acc/att on difficult/very difficult fights.)

MNK TP
ItemSet 317188

This set is designed for people who don't spend ungodly amount of hours trying to get perfect Otronif augments.

I will try and edit this post to add something more accuracy oriented for doing AA fights tomorrow along with any corrections to this set (maybe anchorite's +1 are better?).

You won't go far with this in AA fights. Even very easy battle are challenging for someone not equipping pdt. All AA fight require you to cap pdt.

Aside from full otronif, how are you mixing and matching acc/pdt elsewhere in your gear sets for AA fights?

twilight torque vs asperity vs ej
mollusca vs letalis
black belt vs hurch'lan
dark ring vs mars vs eponas/oneiros
honed tathlum probably a given

Would you swap out otronif head for something like whirlpool for acc if capped pdt elsewhere?
ItemSet 317296

Has anyone figured out the magic number on AA evasion for difficult? I think I remember 600-650 being the target for tojil before the skill got added to everything.

Assuming you're doing the HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE mnk/war setup, then you're gonna want to add as much PDT as you can find and try for accuracy augments on Otronif, otherwise just stack full accuracy for TP mnk/nin and swap to full PDT accordingly. (assuming very difficult)

I was thinking it would be nice if the guide listed some other alternative gear that didn't just include the best items. In the Blue Mage thread, Prothescar lists 3 different sets for TP, Chant du Cygne, Requiescat, and other abilities. It's very convenient for people to see different steps they can progress to instead of just the ultimate best set.

Posted this in the General Discussion thread. I thought it might help with listing alternative gear for Victory Smite

Undershooting acc in the full acc sets, at least for very hard ark angels pending on buffers. Worth noting the legion ring with a 10 acc enchantment too.
