This timing part bothers me a little bit. I would rather be really good at one job than have all jobs - but I hate exp going to 'waste'.
I was almost merit capped before it went from 75 to 80 and I now am leveling jobs to 75 just to have places to put my merits...
Just my thought.

Theory Crafting 2 hour Abilities

war -make all hits deal double damage-

whm -restores everyone's health,removes status ailments, gives everyone rr,prot,shell,haste, revives any dead party/alliance members in area of effect-

mnk -enhances melee attacks: each punch does double damage, each kick does triple damage-

blm -enhances magic damage based on mp-

thf -each successful landed attack increases crit damage and raises item drop %-

rdm -enhances potency of spells (ex. breaks haste cap, more debilitating debuffs)-

pld -ignore magic damage taken-

drk -turns all melee attacks crit and supresses emnity-

bst -calls forth a random massive pet (example a king vinegarroon -look-a-like)

brd -grants party members increased attribute stats, enhanced melee damage/magic damage; and buffs can't be dispelled-

rng -fires an inaccurate barrage, each hit has chance to do severe damage-

sam -lowers tp cost of party members-

Enhanced 2hr:
Azure Lore
Extends duration by 5 seconds and imparts a 5% damage bonus to every spell used in a skillchain or magic burst for every merit spent, up to 5.

New 2hr:
Immortal Incertitude
Take on the form of a soulflayer for 3 minutes. All physical spell potency is doubled, magical spell potency is multiplied by 0.5 and reduced in cost by 50%. Grants a 25% resistance to all forms of damage and enfeeblement. Unlocks entire spell list*.


T3 Merits:
Azure Acumen: Grants TP from every spell cast, equal to 5% of the MP cost. (+3% per merit)
Containment: In an attempt to contain your bestial abilities, you lose control. The power of the next physical spell cast is multiplied by 5% in addition to an accuracy bonus 5 per merit.
Relapse: The beast inside hungers. You gain the ability to drain TP, HP or MP with each physical spell for 30 seconds (+5 per merit) up to a total of 5% of the damage done.
Alienation: Your powers have torn you apart from the social structures of the world. When you are not in a party or an alliance, you gain an accuracy, attack and critical hit rate bonus (5% -> 2% -> 1% -> 1% -> 1%).




*Additionally, imparts the spell "Tentacle Raep"

i dont see why we arent hoping for new 2 hours with insane capabilitys not sidegrades

drk: 50% hp boost and souleater dmg +50%

sam: ability to create skillchains giving mobs -mdb100%

blm: casting circles for 1 min (any blm in your party can cast any offencive magic making a combined /fusion spell for example 2 blms cast freeze2 2 blms cast burst 2 2 blms cast flood 2 creating a huge flood of electric ice ^^)

war: warriors fury: huge paramiter boost like 100+str dex ect ect

ranger: Eagle eye barrage nuff said on this one i think :p

monk: way of the fist: every hit inside a 30 second period increases damage dealt by 1%

thief : treasure hunter + perhaps to 10

redmage: all spells cast whithin 30 second period will have perfect magic accuraccy

dragoon: turns pet into a true wyvern akin to the one fought for the job quest (can change this to something like how call wyvern was and have it so when the pet dies you cant ressummon the uber wyvern untill 2 hour is back up)

pld: instantly maximises hate and keeps all alliance hate transferred to pld for 30-60 seconds

you get the point no doubt of where im going with this easy mode vs old mobs perhaps but i hope for new NM's that we will need great new 2 hours and teamwork to topple


not sure on many others but id hope for something spectacualar for each of us

Merit Point Group 3 Merits and New 2-Hours

Hello.

Previously, we stated that we are developing something to the effect of “merit point category 3,” and we have an update to share with you all. (As stated in the previous post, this is in an early stage of development)

“Merit Point Category 3” is intended to strengthen two-hour abilities and we are also working toward adding new two-hour abilities (*)

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;*What are new two-hour abilities?
  • We are planning to implement them to the test server in March 2012.
    Please look here for a more detailed implementation schedule.

  • The new two-hour abilities are scheduled to have completely different effects, rather than enhanced current two-hour ability effects.

  • The new two-hour abilities will share the same recast timer with current two-hour abilities and we want players to choose them based on the situation.


Here is a revised order of test server implementation:

  1. Raise the level cap to 99

  2. Raise the maximum limit for merit points

  3. Adjust merit points groups 1 and 2

  4. Add new two-hour abilities

  5. Add merit points group 3


We will let you know once we finalize all of the details.

They should consider Boosting all the races a reasonable HP and MP at a decent % boost. Find it funny seen all races with a shitty HP and MP at 95 outside of abyss-sea.

Unless that would mean it will break the game and it will be the end of world!

THF - I posted another Idea elsewhere which involved stealing multiple status effects.

edit: also, to anyone who wants the new thf 2hour to increase TH more, this would be pretty useless as the majority of TH's effect comes from TH1-2.

Well I have my doubts about group 3 merits personally.

Just seems kinda like it is only about making 2 hours better and nothing really wow like.

Use (2hr) Gain C.E bonus effect like (Konzen-ittai) then without being interupted by any other players WS bust out Tachi: Ageha > Tachi: NEW WS = Cosmic Elucidation: AOE skillchain which would cause 90%-100% damage to all regular mobs and 20-40% damage to any NM in range depending on amount of TP used for 2nd WS. :) Happy Place :)

Sticking with only the jobs I know decently;

Samurai: Cosmic Elucidation would be perfect. XD
Summoner: Summon something randomly epic like Bahamut or Knights of the Round?
Black Mage: Considering we'd want something "different" from Manafont, but as useful I would consider a move that would allow no magic resistance for set amount of time. I've always viewed most 2h abilities as "Save-The-Day Coupons," so something quick and possibly self-sacrificing would be the key here.

Sounds over powered but when you consider the power that Meikyo Shisui can deal out if used correctly then not so much I guess.

I just wanted to follow-up with a bit more information related to two-hour abilities.

I believe I mentioned in individual job threads that we would be looking into the revamps of two-hour abilities for some jobs. With that said, we are in fact looking into making adjustments to currently existing two-hour abilities before we implement the new two-hour abilities.

Please just keep in mind that it will be a bit in the future before either of these things are done, so based on this please continue to give us your feedback.

Heya everyone! We were able to get more information from the dev. team about the merit point cap increase.

We are looking into the below three types of merit point cap increases:
1. Increase the amount of merit points you can have at a given time (current is 20)
2. Increase the category caps (HP/MP to 12, etc.)
3. Increase other item caps (Enmity + to 5, etc.)

Hopefully this answers some of your questions. We'll keep you posted when we receive more information. ^_^

Thing is... this is happening -after- the level 99 limit. It did not take much effort to level jobs from 90 to 95, and I had a lot of merits capped at 75. Am I the only person that hates exp going to 'waste' and would rather have places to put merit points -before- the level cap change?

Do other people just go for cruor and not care about limit points? or.. ?

I honestly dont know the point of giving more than 20 merits at a time. I had only a couple merits prior to abyssea. I have never done a merit pt. Every pt I have taken has been on a job that needed to lvl or to skill (and less than 5 of those). But I am nearing full merits on all jobs now. That is just me a guy who never ever concentrated on merits almost being done. I can only imagine a person that actually tried to cap merits as soon as they could.

Why on earth do I need the ability to save more merits? The only logical reason that I can think of is if they drastically increase the things I can merit. Possibly having no caps on job merits (ie you can get all options 5/5) and adding the new tier 3 merits? Otherwise it doesnt make any sense to even consider increasing the cap on the savable merits.

You are confusing "Maximum merit points" (for a group) with "stored merit points" (the current 20 merit cap before you need to spend them).

They are planning to increase the max you can have in a category. Example: 15/15HP (current: 12) or 10/10STR (current: 8).

The video's I posted had horrible quality and didn't really show it at all, so I just recorded it myself:


The moon like part is about 3 times the size of any player, then the smoke and dust... well you get the picture.
