The information we released about Voidwatch: The Second Chapter is great and all, but be honest, what most of you are interested in is the sweet, sweet loot. Right? Here is a video showing some of the new weapons that can be obtained. The names haven’t been finalized just yet, but the stats have been solidified. I also hear a rumor that the great katana has some hidden effect as well…Wonder what it could be…

And here is the Voidwatch second chapter that Bismarck.Elanabelle posted this morning:

[dev1026] Voidwatch: The Second Chapter

The upcoming version update will feature a new installment of the Voidwatch battle system.

  • Players will engage Voidwalkers in battle in the following new jurisdictions:

    • Jeuno Region
      • To participate:
        • Players who have completed up to stage four of the San d’Oria/Bastok/Windurst Voidwatch missions and seen the corresponding cutscene may join the operation by speaking to one of the Voidwatch officers stationed in the three nations.

    • Zilart Region
      • To participate:
        • Players level 75 and above who possess an Adventurer’s Certificate may join the operation by speaking to the NPC Kieran in Norg (I-8).
*The Zilart Voidwatch operation will be handled by special NPCs in place of the standard Voidwatch Officers.

Would really love for a sword like that to be corsair-equipable.

Edit: Also, love the all-stat-boost great katana on a dropped weapon before Amano gets any sort of stat mod while Masamune just keeps stacking the mod stat higher and higher.

SE really seems to have something against my two main jobs this update.

I would want the sword on corsair more than the dagger. Haste cap w/out dusk+1 and TP drain/agi to power Wildfire in the occasions I melee.

Be better off using whatever HQ staff powers up Wildfire though.

And SE used to frequently release screenshots of Paladins tanking in earth staves years after it became a valid tactic as well.

They've also posted screenshots at times of warriors tanking in what is clearly not gear ok for warriors to tank in/mobs not ok for warriors to tank. (at the time, anyhow)

Chances are they took something that looked good and ran with it.

I was gonna say, 'cause I remember starting Voidwatch with the mentality that "whoo, NIN tank this ***~ Put some evasion atmas on and OH GOD IT HURTS"

Oh, you're totally right. That is Rolanberry.

Good catch.

Edit: admittedly, it does look a bit like the little mountains just southeast of the gate in Western Ronfaure. But upon closer inspection it's definitely Rolanberry.

If you guys are interested in how to do Voidwatch, Slycer has been keeping this page very current. I believe he has also been updating the monster pages with more specific strategy notes, but I don't really know because I don't Voidwatch much m'self.

Byrth, how many people would you need to be able to do all the VW nm's? Also, what if the group wasn't experienced, about how many do you think would be needed?

Well, I actually wrote this section of the page (since updated by Slycer) based on consensus from the BG Voidwatch thread.

The consensus was that you could probably kill everything with a really pimped out party (6 players) but you'd get no drops. If you're doing it for drops, the minimum is around 10~12. If you're doing it for drops and you aren't running with top skill/gear players, you're best off with a full alliance. A full alliance with a good core can down all current Voidwatch monsters, and the people that aren't part of the good core can proc.
