The canteen lets you skip having to kill any caturae to unlock the ability to upgrade from +2 to +3 and is received from the new missions.
It 'activates' next time you enter and gives a message saying you are now eligible to upgrade your gear.

You just go in and kill mobs, and it counts down in log after every kill. If you already have +3 access it says nothing. I have barely any VR missions done on the alt this showed up on.

Can anybody confirm +10 skill per master level?
It sounds a bit... too much? Would be 990 skill at mastery 99... Offline

It's +1 per level, no idea where the +10 came from, maybe people were expecting a level 10 cap and were saying we're getting 10 skills this update
Ok, so it's confirmed the guy who typed +10 was indeed a typo as I hypothized.
Did they state if master level affects hp/mp/stats of summoned trusts? And if they did not state, will someone test?
The +10 was referring to automatons, not players

This will just exacerbate it. But, as others have mentioned, there will likely be content that matches all this. Content making current challenges a laugh as we have people going in, soloing caturae, etc. Mattelot said: » But, as others have mentioned, there will likely be content that matches all this. Idk, the 20th anniversary announcement will tell I suppose While we can all guess or use logical assumptions, I'm going to assume so. But if you are right and it's to appease the "I only solo" people, I guess that's fine too. I mean, people prefer to do things alone now-a-days and I don't blame them. It's nice to be able to log in for the 30 min I have before work and feel like I can accomplish at least something without hoping to find someone else. Mattelot said: » there will likely be content that matches all this. Ive been reading this since Lilith, maybe even before. Im on the side who like things “easier”, but at this point, i think SE is more interested in making “interesting” rewards than having a middle/long time planning for vertical progression. SE wants to have 1. Long time grinding, regardless of difficulty 2. Tournesoul-type rewards (the strongest item that you earn once you beat every single thing in game, making it as powerful as lacking usefulness) Again, im very fine with both approaches. Maybe not much long time grinding, but at reasonable grinding Pantafernando said: » 2. I personally would prefer things easier for solo players as Avereith said but I'm not being optimistic about it, as much as I want to.

We do not want players too rapidly progressing on a story mission from 15 years ago! They didn't add in a wait, Apocalypse Nigh was one of the few things that still had you wait until Japanese midnight to progress. Offline

It honestly shouldn't have a wait at all. The mission was from 15 years ago. I've never found the value in those "wait until next day" things.

Has anyone hit a cap yet for Mastery levels?

Asura.Geriond said: » I doubt they'll leave it at Odyssey's level in terms of difficulty. I guess difficulty is a subjective perspective. We have people who struggle with content that others laugh at. We have people who claim they carry their entire server with Mireu, etc. I guess % of people accessing/completing will show. With a game this old, you really don't want to have content inaccessible to a good chuck of your population. Offline

Asura.Sechs said: » Valefor.Prothescar said: » The +10 was referring to automatons, not players Wat Beastmaster seems to be in a similar boat. I have 2 characters with BST mastered. One character has Master lv 0, and the other character has Master Level 2. Here are my results: Both characters called Pets with Relic Gloves, and Max Beast Affinity trait. For those not familiar with BST, this forces pet to spawn at max level. Equipment: Both completely naked except for Kaja Sword in main hand. Pet: Generous Arthur Slug Master Lv 0 Attack: 723 Accuracy: 960 Evasion: 772 Defense: 1394 Pet: Generous Arthur (Slug) Master Level 2 Attack: 739 Accuracy: 981 Evasion: 793 Defense: 1398 Pet: BlackbeardRandy (Tiger) Master Lv 0 Attack: 1442 Accuracy: 983 Evasion: 778 Defense: 961 Pet: BlackbeardRandy (Tiger) Master Level 2 Attack: 1476 Accuracy: 1004 Evasion: 799 Defense: 964 So BST pets are definitely getting a considerable boost per master level. I wonder at what point they will have buffed characters to that the returns are negligible. There are already jobs that can situationally hit the 99k damage cap with some frequency. If they add +99 to every attribute, boost SJs, and boost jobs with Empy+3 in addition to the already OP Nyame Path B, how much more could realistically be improved for DD jobs? Especially with everyone already haste and attack capped when in a party.
All that said, the fact mastery levels is per job indicates some intent of making job specific boosts from it at some point. Either that or they just made a pointless grind that you have to do across every job for the same trait. Um...
That means that pets are going to have like 1300 evasion if master levels go up to 50 eventually, 1800 if it ever gets to 99. Pet evasion tank meta? Offline

Joeblow sics pet on Ou.
Joeblow uses Familiar. Joeblow goes to take a nap. Ou has that full heal mechanic, so even an invincible pet wouldn't kill it if you were afk and your pet was only doing white damage.
Maybe some of the other Caturae, though. Quetzalcoatl.Wakmidget said: » Has anyone hit a cap yet for Mastery levels? Bump. Anybody run into a cap yet or am I marathoning PLD until I get Foil? |
