Emergency Maintenance!!!!

That came out of no where or was it planned?
Was it the packets?
Was it because of VW cellgate?
Or was it Clinton making SE kill themselves?
Or was it another misspelled and confusing Trump tweet that triggered the maintenance?
The main point is:

ACTUAL emergency maint, oh so VW was an emergency, but trillions of gil in medals is just an "emergency"

(it's because it's unreasonable to "remove" 500 vw spawn locations)

What ever the reason was, it really sucks because we had just entered Dynamis D when the maintenance message came up. As far as I know we won't be able to re-enter again until Saturday.

On the contrary, the reason why they play/cheat the game is because they have zero else to do and it takes such little effort to pull off. SE is so lazy in correcting issues, they all but encourage it in many ways. And then they put out STF reports claiming they banned 2000~(??) accounts and froze 1 billion gil (thats not even a lot..). You can't even blame the players anymore for SEs incompetence.

It's obviously a lot esier to remove a single NPC from just one zone than it is to track down 500 of them in thirty different zones and remove them individually one by one. It's not hard to believe that automating the "find every one of these things and hide them" process would require a server restart, as opposed to the "do this process for just one of them" method, which they probably just do manually.

I just find it comical when they say emergency, but then wait 20 hours to do it. There's no urgency for that "emergency". Nothing more.

Just call it maintenance.

To be fair, they did remove Aurix immediately. They just waited 20 hours to put him back. They haven't implemented the fix for this yet. So you can still expect that "emergency maintinence" at the usual time, probably tonight or tomorrow night.

The scope of removing all the planar rifts is why they had to take the servers down just now. It has nothing to do with implementing a fix. It's literally just that they didn't want to manually remove every single rift one at a time. They automated the process this time, and apparently by automating it they required a server reboot to complete the process. If removing just aurix required a zone or server restart they would have done so then too. It's just the scope here. 1 NPC in 1 zone versus 500 in 30 different ones. That's all.

Yeah, they just don't have separate terminology for "scheduled emergency maintinence" versus "unscheduled emergency maintinence". They just lump them both into the same category and call it a day.

It was to remove all the VW spawns so that no one can do the VW duping that just was revealed the other day.

So "emergency" seems more than apt.

Damn I really needed to get some logs from Voidwatch too...now what am I supposed to do...
