Thanks for playing see you in FFXIV ! Lakshmi.Buukki said: » Looking forward to Square announcing the November 2015 Login Campaign prizes: 1000 points: Ridill 2000 points: Defending Ring 4000 points: Mythic 119 of your choice. Mog Bonanza 2016 winning number: 00001. Yes, it will be that easy. Probably find some clever way to get people to log in and keep playing. I can see 24/7 campaigns for EXP/CP/Bayld returns/WKR/NNI/WOE being the norm some time after content halt begins. You guys all know its coming. And why not? May as well make everyone still willing to pay into overpowered super-characters to live out their biggest dreams of destroying baddies. Sounds like a fun way to go out. Bahamut.Ravael said: » I wonder if SE is going to lower R/M/E requirements as time winds down. If they're not releasing any new content after November, it makes sense that they might make such toys more attainable to entice people to stick around longer. You know, letting them play with all the things that they could never get before but now have easier access to. It might also help people feel more "complete" when the end comes. No if anything they should crush your dreams of getting a RME raise the requirements ! volkom said: » Asura.Crevox said: » It basically feels like they're shutting down the game if they're truly just going to stop releasing content after November. It has to feel like it's going somewhere. I can't imagine many people sticking around either. There's plenty of content and stories to follow currently in the game. What's relevant in terms of gear progression is another story. Who knows, since the game is going to windows only platform post 2016 then it may be easier for them to push out updated content at a later date. Everyone sounds so god damn pessimistic. Come'on lets keep a little optimism here Volkom no offence as I know your a nice person but they stated no more updates, when a company has a press confrence and states that fact and then has the english translation up in record time for all to read I think its safe to assume there is no new content after November. Yes im sure some people will stick around and complete it but not all and as the server numbers are terrible now it's only going to get worse. We all knew this day would come and finally it has. fonewear said: » The best way the game could end is a message say: Thanks for playing see you in FFXIV ! *** 14... ***there is way to easy... new update comes, your done with it in >30 minutes and waiting on the next month, already. Oh you want to complete that mythic 400,000 Alex please !

I bet in the last month they'll just have a box of free R/M/E stuff, kind of like how that box of weapons by the magian moogle works. Yeah, and while they are doing that let Ballista be word-wide, so people can go on a killing spree.... muahahahahahaha. Open world PvP would be a great ending, I'd stay around just to massacre the little people. fonewear said: » The best way the game could end is a message say: Thanks for playing see you in FFXIV ! Narp. If LotR Online didn't pull me in, no other new MMO is going to pull me in. Frankly, I may even quit WoW too when I quit XI, just to make a break from MMOs and move on with my life. Quetzalcoatl.Wakmidget said: » Yeah, and while they are doing that let Ballista be word-wide, so people can go on a killing spree.... muahahahahahaha. Ugh. I'd quit on the spot. Ballista has always been *** stupid (IN MY OPINION) and it's always been nice that PVP in XI has been limited entirely to those who want to participate and has no repercussions in the rest of the game. It is true I've played a ton of MMO's and always went back to XI that says something.

I can see 24/7 campaigns for EXP/CP/Bayld returns/WKR/NNI/WOE being the norm some time after content halt begins. You guys all know its coming. Now THAT would be a way to end the game. A battle royale where everyone murders each other until only one person remains... who then gets eaten by Jormungand. This game has gone though many long periods of no real new content, between expansions/addons etc, the fact that people keep playing during these "down" times is what keeps SE coming back with new content.
Negative Nancys might say its the end but if enough keep paying and playing and returning for "one last blast" and make it viable after November for them to continue who knows? We all new Soa content updates wouldn't last forever but with the mobile platform/vita which could be really popular coming and possibly bringing people to the windows platform and with fewer limitations on the windows client it seems like it is a positive announcement to me. This doesn't remove the possibility of them adding cash shops later on in the future as the game dwindles down in playerbase. I can forsee the prices dropping after next year, and they just add new RMT ways to "buy" the things you want instead. Actually, the trust initiative could have been a stellar Pay-for-content upgrade for those with not a lot of live players. Expecting to see a huge buff to Trust NPC powers in the future too (the double HP/MP thing will also become a norm as well, and they'll allow them in delve and incursion runs). This game still could make a huge turn for the future. Even with "no new content", square could still spin this into a "game of convenience" rather than a growing game. Just throwing the ideas out there, because that's what's fun about ffxi: theorycraft. As crazy as it sounds I really enjoyed the grind of the game more than anything. I might be insane but exping with random people the old school way was very fun.
They should make a final bonanza where....everyone wins!
The last one truly does make your wishes comes true! **** those marbles. I'd come back to finally finish my Vere just to play around.
Bahamut.Ravael said: » who then gets eaten by Jormungand. Well he is the World Serpent. Oooh. That's a great idea, actually! Maybe I lied! Don't do PVP the whole next year+, but, let's maybe at the very end -- given SE's proclivity for Norse stuff through and through -- have a RAGNAROK event to end the game! Quetzalcoatl.Kenrusai said: » They should make a final bonanza where....everyone wins! The last one truly does make your wishes comes true! **** those marbles. I still wouldn't play. 10 years of false hopes. At this point, I don't even give a ***. Call up all your old linkshhell mates, fly to Japan and China. Get every cat back onto ffxi. Recruit all the idiots on xiv. If everyone returns they'll clearly make new content! Ok I don't really care. Just felt like being a little dramatic. However the point is this game may be passed its prime. But there are ways to revive it. ***I mean look at wow may have a much bigger player base but they're doing something right when it comes to new expansions and player retention. Ffxis biggest problem is they are not targeting new players to start playing.
Seraph.Ramyrez said: » Bahamut.Ravael said: » who then gets eaten by Jormungand. Ha, I was thinking the same thing after I said that. Get Odin, Fenrir, Nidhogg, etc. in on the action too. I'd be pretty disappointed too if I slogged through skirmish/that other thing-grinds in hopes of better content in the future, to learn that this is the future. My dedication and loyalty...and money....wasted. Well, I quit years ago so I'm good, but yeah. Why not just have all the Wyrms and Deities become involved, and truly make it the experience we've all been waiting for?
Another clash of Odin versus Alexander! (could also use it as a lead into FFXVI) Quetzalcoatl.Kenrusai said: » They should make a final bonanza where....everyone wins! EDIT: one of the great insights of psychoanalysis is that you don't actually want stuff, you just want the wanting. If you want to help people move on from FFXI, give them the object of a long-held desire. That'll help them make peace really quickly. base mad and cause problems for future release titles. How do we accomplish this?" Facts, Last expansion update on __November 2015__ PS2/360 support dead on __March 2016__ PS2/360 support dead __4 full months AFTER final update to the game__ If ps2/360 support is killed AFTER the Final expansions, and No further updates will occur. What is the point? Future updates could mean that, maybe something would be blocked/stopped/impossible due to ps2/360 limitations. How can this be so, however, if the FINAL UPDATES to the game occur 4 months prior to ps2/360 kill date? So what is the purpose of this? Imagine if they did this a year ago, two years ago? Even two WEEKS ago! What would happen? Ps2/360 players, still thinking that content would be coming out, would buy PC copies and cointinue playing. Not all for sure, but I feel a vast majority would. Now, Imagine it the way it was announced. We'll get some content, THEN no more content THEN ps2/360 are killed. On top of that, phrases such as “We plan for this to be a grand conclusion to the FINAL FANTASY series' first MMORPG “ and “but there will continue to be minor version updates that address bugs and contain various balance adjustments ” are tossed around as well as mention of a new mobile game all together. Why? I think an intentional method to kill player base. Those ps2/360 players, having finished or at least had a 4 month period to finish the FINAL UPDATES are going to then, KNOWING THERE WILL BE NOTHING KNEW, buy a pc version and continue playing? Of course, some will. But as an entire community, do you think they will? No, they will simply be gone. Leaving the few that DO, as well as the current pc player base. So, why again? To intentionally kill playerbase off. “And hey, there will even be a new crappy FFXI related game to play when you're gone”. Now, assuming I'm correct, we've lost a few people right there, but what about the PC users? Sure, that's a lot of people. But I saw no mention of possible server merges in the “but there will continue to be minor version updates that address bugs and contain various balance adjustments ” section. One could argue that “Various Balance Adjustments” could include server mergers, but in the past when they use that wording, it usually refers to an OP job/weapon/armor/stat/mob/etc. If they've killed off a lot of players, across all servers, and then do not merge servers, how hard will it be to find ppl to do things with? And What will you do? There is no longer a hope of “Future content that I will need bad *** gear for”. Simply a “I can get this gear for.... um... redoing my old stuff when I get bored” sort of mentality. We will lose more players due to low server numbers as well as simply lack of motivation in obtaining something that has no use after. But, in all of this, we will not be able to cry at SE. Why? They gave us 1 more expansion in 3 parts, over the course of nearly a year.. They are keeping the game going after that even. They will even make a tablet/phone version. They are “doing their part” to keep this game alive. In the end, It will be lack of people interested in playing, that kill the game. Sever numbers, and as a whole, completely player numbers, will dwindle so far, that continuing will no longer be a smart financial move on SE's part. The game will THEN be officially killed due to Lack of Interest in fanbase. Well, that's not SE's fault right? That's our fault. I mean, They can't help that we all stopped playing right? And that, I feel, is their plan. Get US to kill XI so they do not have to be blamed for it. So when the NEXT game comes out, no one is mad and refusing to buy. I can't say SE is stupid for this. It makes sense... But, it's sad to see it happen. I could be wrong. I could be over thinking this. I could simply be an idiot. But, this is how the live presentation reads to me. I hope I'm completely wrong, but I do not think I am. You might want to change the last expansion date to November 2015
might want to just delete that post, no one gonna read it
@fonewear I reaqlly think you never played ffxi and just look for attention here? cause myth need 300k alex and not 400k!!!!!
and to the press conference: I am glad I did not stayed up to watch it. So much hot air for nothing! and i dont think thats the last thing for the game, there wont be just a major main story after that |
