They actually are in 2016 for a bunch of people, mostly Japanese... oh, the irony.

Well, the end is foreseeable now, three small add ons, then you're done. No more content. No more reason to even do content.
Fortunately I quit awhile ago and so glad I did. If I were you though, I'd just quit now, and save yourself the pointless grind that won't at all matter.
Of course, it's your decision, but I'm not expecting you to be smart about this.

Those Japanese are perfectly capable of playing regardless. Anyone remember the episode of Speed Racer where he helps the old guy with a broken down Model T? No? Well Speed "Aahh!?" Racer comes across an old man and his grandson broken down in the old man's Model T, the old man seems to hate Speed because of his new fast car with all them gosh darn automatic transmissions. It's kinda like that. "No, I'd rather walk 40 miles than ride in something new and reliable."

This news has to be disheartening to anyone going hard in the grind at making a mythic weapon. If it were me I'd throw in the towl, and the game while I'm at it.

Brother, there was never any reason to do content.
I'm sad to see the game go, but I'm looking forward to finally having the chance to play it until it isn't fun anymore, and then say, "welp, that's it."

Was there any mention of Windows 8 or 10 in the conference? Microsoft is working to bring all devices together in one OS, but I guess SE would need to release a new POL or some sort of launcher.

We are talking storyline fights post-SoA. I am sure they will be cakewalk with trusts. They never required RNGs to shoot outside of damage range or SAMs to zerg.

S-E dropping console support for XI is the one good takeaway from today's conference. A lot of people doubted that would happen. Now the second part of this needs to be updates to the game client for DirectX 9.0 and support for Xinput... not a lot of non-Xinput controllers on the market anymore.

Console is being dumped simply because both SONY and Microsoft already sent SE information about how they plan to shut down the service for the console platforms.
PS2 support only lasted this long because it was maintained in a per title basis. If it was depending on a centralized network (like the XBOX360 service) it would be long gone by now.
People might argue the XBOX360 version does not use the LIVE service but it does, for credential/profile/achievement tracking.

They stated no more updates after November why bring up the console crap its done, dusted update wise after November who really apart from a few die hard idiots are going to pay for a game that has no new content coming.

With SE finally ending support those PS2 and Xbox 360 they should do a graphics overhaul on the game like FFXIV graphics!
