SE Live Stream (3/19) CONCLUDED
Really making NA and EU wait for mobile smh..
Full Active Time Events. Dynamic scenarios. Lots of moving parts to the event that make it hog resources. And the PS2 already struggles with FFXI. FATES would probably kill it.
Numquam said: » what are fates? Apparently Nexon is partnering for the mobile client? Idk, just seeing Nexon's name anywhere makes me go ew. Sylph.Kuwoobie said: » Brace yourselves, the grindr is coming >< fixed 終わり~Thats the end, and my battery is dying so time for me to go home... lol
No more announcements. Nothing about server merges or any of the content currently in the game, just the future content and stuff
Taken from the Reddit page.
Tidbit: The Japanese name for Nexon is ネ糞 - which translates to "Ne(***)" - not completely unearned because the company LOVES Gatchas (random rolls for cash instead of buying what you want). Is this officially FFXI "Jumping the Shark?"
Calling it now, we will see Ultima.
Ultima always appears near the end of the game. Now that we've reached the last expansion, Ultima will appear somewhere. Lyncath said: » I honestly never saw the point in mobile gaming. Whenever I'm out I like to, you know, enjoy my surroundings. Only exception would be if I'm on a train or on a plane in which case I have an unreliable signal. Whole thing smacks of naivety. Well don't think they actually said it would be for outside japan. They have far better networks set up there I beleive. Nexon has a bad rep as a developer? pay a monthly fee for a game that will get no more content?
So that's basically the end, we learned:
-New addon scenario in May, August, November (new battle content + area(s)). -The usual updates in between -PS2/360 ending in March 2016 -New random wanna-be FFXI mobile game, "Final Fantasy Grandmasters" -FFXI on mobile phones from Nexon -After addon scenarios, PC will continue, but no updates? I think that about sums it up? That sword the Galka is holding in the FFXI logo.
...we actually don't have that weapon in game. Quetzalcoatl.Bloodpool said: » pay a monthly fee for a game that will get no more content? My thoughts It's because they host some really nasty F2P cash-transaction games like Maple Story and Mabinogi, both of which have bad reputations for gouging players with cash-transactions and cash-sink style game features.
I did wonder if that would have been a lead-in introduction into an FFXI F2P business model, but it wasn't brought up. Asura.Crevox said: » -After addon scenarios, PC will continue, but less updates? No updates, just maintenance if I read correctly. No change in subscription policy is a bit disappointing, but not unexpected. No doubt some time after major content is finished being added they'll cut sub fee, but don't expect F2P.
Also, there was no mention of having to buy the add-on content. so.... new content on empty servers?
Aaaaaand it's over. Now to go to bed and wake up in the morning to full translations. Then I can go to the store to find a sweet grey blazer and beige slacks like that one guy so i too can look like my wife dressed me.
Fenrir.Nightfyre said: » Good point that happened with the level cap increase to 99. Now this is like Fonzie did a u-turn and jumped the shark a 2nd time got it. From what I can tell, basically we just got told they're ending FFXI
I can't believe a company would say "Sure you can keep paying us, but we're really not going to do anything"
And since it got buried on the last page pretty quickly, this is all the info from the stream pertaining to XI that I managed to get
Valefor.Prothescar said: » Full Summary New Add-On Scenarios and Major Updates In May, August, and November there will be 3 major updates entitled "Vanadiel's Song of the Stars". These will be grand, major updates including new areas, battle content, and battle systems including dynamic events (think RIFTs, FATEs). Following these updates, there will be no more major content updates for FFXI, but the game will continue to be supported with minor patches and the servers will not be closing down. Console Support Playstation 2 and Xbox 360 support will be dropped in March 2016. MMMRPG Massively Multiplayer Mobile Role Playing Game. It will include a sort of version of FFXI that will allow you to do some things directly to your FFXI character while incorporating new features not available on the PC. They're looking for ways to "make people want to log in every day". there'll be an official english translation though so can just wait for that Knowing SE, the full translation will be out in 2 weeks.
They will understand when they see the sub numbers next month

I'm just curious if they were doing just a mobile port of XI, then the gouging they do in their own games wouldn't apply. |
