well.. you gotta still do a full sweep of scanning and cleaning so that all your efforts to get your character reimaged/rollbacked isn't all for nothing.

My friend said SE is making him fill out a form and email it back to them afterwards, but didn't say he had to have it notarized.

you only have to have it notarized if you cant provide enough information to prove you own the account, i had the form emailed to me, i printed it, filled in the Info, and scanned it back (with 2 pieces of photo-id, as per requested, both times), and had no problems.

But then they'll say they'll have to redirect them to that department, which is apparantly as bare as Valkrum Dunes for exping nowadays.

It's like calling Walmart, their electronics is busy, so you ask for garden center just to talk to a living person, or their front desk to the same effect. They'll just point out it's for electronics, redirect you, and you'll have extra waiting time most likely as a result.

This whole situation is very odd and makes me nervous...gonna be even more careful what I download and click..I have a feeling it was something to do with the 3day event...When I opened up the POL story on it in the viewer it didn't say much and had a very very strange URL - not sure if anyone else saw it..was like .tco or something didn't click on it...something fishy is going on with SE

Personally, I want to think to myself that the majority of people who fall victim are on PC and don't keep a clean PC. When it comes to most "I was hacked" threads.

Yeah, this for sure I agree. 90% of the time it's not the person getting hacked, it's because they gave out their account info. Not saying this is the case here, but that is usually the scenario. Need to be extra careful especially today.

The entire situation is just bizarre and I'm still generally leaning toward something being wrong on SE's end. Cat was pretty loaded and sat there for 6 months until I saw this thread. I don't think 20 minutes is long enough to strip everything of value from him, deactivate security tokens, and delete him not to mention delete his mules and then also strip and delete the other character and mules on a different service account on the same SE account.

Not that my PC is hack proof but I'm generally a pretty security aware persona.

The main thing making me lean this way is I had a 2nd account (totally different SE account) that disappeared and the characters were never reactivated. I haven't even logged on to it since June.

I don't know, still not enough info.

to remove your Token, they need the One Time Password at least TWICE, once to login, and once again for verification of removal, if you only logged in once, they couldnt have done that.

The only thing common in all the cases so far is that the people were playing, the game froze, and then they couldn't log back in. Once they were able to get back into the SE account page, all the characters were deleted.

Of course that doesn't explain my secondary account that I never logged into and wasn't even on the same SE account disappearing, but not sure if that's related or not. I have no idea when that happened, between yesterday and June.

Maybe someone will answer at SE tomorrow.

It's possible I suppose, but that wouldn't explain that last guy that said same thing just happened to his LS mate who didn't use windower.

Look at the emergency maintenance for items in the mog case vanishing. Time to dub it SE Fukushima code and server.

I didn't know about that. I reactivated and cancelled yesterday to see if I could figure out what was happening and saw the 80 item mog case and was like.... wow, about time they gave you guys some more inventory. I immediately stuffed it full of junk. Little did I know how clever of an inventory solver it was.

I feel your pain I got hacked back in April of this Year and Square took forever to get all of my stuff back together and I talked to them the morning after I found all of my Chars had been deleted. All I can say is call them weekly/daily if you can and I'd fax the Forum back to them I had to send the same Forum but I had trouble with my 2nd account when I first sent it in. Good luck!

This happened to me and all 5 mules, my wife and all her mules as well about 4 weeks ago, pending investigation still, but found SE password had been changed, had to recover it, reset that password, change my POL password, then tried logging in just to find 6 open character slots and no characters.

Contacted SE support got 2 options:

1) file a form, pend investigation (all while paying for the accounts) then if found to be true, they recover back to last saved version of the characters (rollback).

2) Un-delete the characters via normal service, get what I get, no item recovery. Apparently this method is considered an acceptance of the one time item restore as per SE support.

All-in-all, I'll be back when they done most likely sadly life seems boring w/o something to sink time into. If you love the game, file the form, wait till they done, get back something close to what you had, w/o losing your one-time restore.

Good luck!

Talked to SE today, (after an hour wait). Talked to a Jack. Said they'd email me a form, haven't gotten it yet. Whats this "normal" undelete option?
Edit: I've looked up the character reactivation and it's only for if YOU chose to delete the character yourself. Obviously those of us having this problem did not.

It's just so weird that anyone would bother stealing FFXI accounts when the game is tanking so hard.
