Ban Cannon in Empyreal Paradox
When I played half the people i knew fishbotted. Easy money.
Leviathan.Comeatmebro said: » protip: most of the fishbotters ARE rmting on leviathan, for example, there are currently 6 owned by the same person fishing and that's all going straight to china on quetz, there's someone with ~8 hakuryu go directly to gil, which increases the amount in circulation.. the current fishbotters are much more damaging than the old ones the old school sole bots just sold to other players, the inflation back then was caused by an exploit where you could purchase barone from a npc in tavnazia and resell it for higher than the purchase price if you want to take a realistic look at it, the only reason they aren't banned is because SE's acknowledged that the playerbase loves to rmt, loves to cheat, and those that will get pissed enough to leave over it have already done so: its just lowering their net subs to ban them all they do is a periodic scare-ban or wave of such, rarely with any permanents, so they can pretend they're doing something about it to the starcade-type nutjobs that are left You must have started after the bot army in Rabao. You literally couldn't zone into the zone sometimes, due to so many bots. All fishing up rusty caps, a low level skill cap item, and NPCing. i started around CoP release(on PS2), but i was thinking of qufim cliff not rabao, so i'll give you that
i still find it hard to believe that it was as much (relative) gil added as ebisus are nowadays.. SE's added all sorts of gil sinks to try to accomodate it They did, but all those gil sinks are gone. Now events are free, or incredibly cheap.

There are 60 people going in Beaucedine at any time of the day on Lakshmi, that's $780 a month they'd lose on just one server. ***wouldn't have made a difference back in the day when fishbots actually did get banned because they had so many subscriptions, but these days they'll take whatever they can get lol. They do ban fishbot, and banning cheaters actully gives more income in the long run.....nobody want to play an MMO that cheaters gets an advantage, you'd lose more sub if you don't enforce your law. Profit > Enforcing your terms of service on a dying game. At any time they could do just one sweep of Beaucedine on every server and get rid of everyone if they really gave a ***, but they haven't. I think they only really bother checking if someone's a *** and calls a GM on you. Not true, I've reported skill bots to GM's and they don't care. Ragnarok.Harpunnik said: » Not true, I've reported skill bots to GM's and they don't care. Reporting botting is pointless. Reporting admission of botting is usually productive.
@snr: wasn't talking about the effectiveness of the gil sinks, just that they had a need to make them when the earlier(& easier to do) solution was banga Silly me, I was really looking forward to some sort of actual shopped ban cannon with shinryu...
AFK skilling geo is EXTREMELY SLOW. GEO/SCH , Gustav Tunnel basement, lvl 105 worms. SLeep one, spam geos on it, and aspir/aspir II everytime its up. Its cake... literally. Indi-ragen will handle if it gets any nukes off. They don't link. Only problem you may have is if it decides it wants to deaggroe. Can also build the skill up book bonus before actually skilling up if you have a mule/friend that can murder things. Have fun /o/, don't forget skill up food.
Edit: if there are any 105 to 110 worms in alduin that would probably be better, but ionis doesn't last long.
Ragnarok.Bepe said: » Edit: if there are any 105 to 110 worms in alduin that would probably be better, but ionis doesn't last long. Theres three...and they link though :< As in all things relating to GMs, it probably depends on the GM you get, and sometimes, his mood. There was an SS years ago of a GM telling an LS kiting KV was a legit strat and then a gm warning that same ls a few weeks later for kiting KV.
i use to go abyssea join a worm party and get like 1k minutes, then go to a remote location in the zone and off he goes lol. Nowadays i just go to a very remote location like ronfaure S and just cast to my hearts content. out of sight your out of mind. Casting in plain view (and i see this so often in Bismark) is crazy, your almost asking for it lol
Some gms are smart. They ask you to turn around and wave at them if your fishing. They should give you skill up dummies for your mog or make a skill up gym. Btw, they can tell if you're on ps2 so the best thing to do is use a turbo controller to skill up smn. Just spam carby by with yin yang on.
when did banhammer turn into bancannon?

At any time they could do just one sweep of Beaucedine on every server and get rid of everyone if they really gave a ***, but they haven't. I think they only really bother checking if someone's a *** and calls a GM on you. That's an extremely short sighted POV if you can't see how a company would lose more profit if you don't ban cheater/RMT. A lot of ppl don't cheat, simply because the chance of getting banned still exist. Yeah, it seems that most of the time they don't care, but ppl been saying "you won't get banned, so just do ettttt!" when ppl salvage dupe or clipper NNI. Whenever SE bans a cheater/RMT, it prevents potential players that would cheat if SE do nothing. So, if SE doesn't ban cheaters, more ppl cheats, period. And what will happen if most players cheat/RMT? Things like cheating/RMT gives advantage to ppl who do it, and putting ppl not doing it in disadvantage. If I, or any random player are new to FFXI, and every other player skills up faster, runs faster, clears events easier, and gets a relic faster without grinding/crafting, I'd have to cheat to keep up too. And not every player is into that sort of thing. So, if I need to cheat to keep up, I may end up quitting. And the game die faster than it is now. If FFXI still has 3 more years of life span, then it shortens life span if ppl quit faster, and that's less profit. Also, real RMTs probably would start cancelling their account and sell less gil, due to less profit. Since RMT profit is based on players. If everyone fishbot or run faster, make gil faster, or make progress faster, I bet gil would lose value too. Further more, EVERY newer MMO SE make, DQ10, FFXIV and such, I'd think twice, or maybe 3 times before I try it. If they don't ban cheaters in XI, maybe they won't ban cheaters in DQ10 and FFXIV too? I don't want to play a new MMO and have to cheat to keep up, I'll pass this title. What about MMOs after DQ10, FFXIV? In next 50 years, as long as SE exists and continue to make MMO, they'd be labeled as a company letting everyone bot/cheat, and players not into this sort of things would not play. Overall, I see decreased brand value and way less profit if SE doesn't ban cheaters. Leviathan.Comeatmebro said: » and those that will get pissed enough to leave over it have already done so Not true, different player has different tolerance when it comes to cheating. Some ppl can tolerate fishbot but not speedhack. Some ppl can tolerate spellcast, windower but not fishbot/speed hack and auto skill up. Some ppl can't tolerate windower/spellcast but they still play regardless. If today SE stop banning cheaters, I see more ppl would start to cheat and more ppl would quit for it. Leviathan.Comeatmebro said: » its just lowering their net subs to ban them By that logic, if I open a private server for FFXI and allow everyone to cheat, clipper, fishbot and w/e, I should get more sub than FFXI. But no, most of us probably already know that private server doesn't sound fun. Just skilled up for 2 hours at a time in abyssea ule. Went in on mnk. Killed ***till it popped 99 or 100, had someone come hold the mob, set up a script and went afk for about 1.5 hours, used the other 30 mins to find someone to come hold the mob while i refreshed time.
Only took 3-4 sessions of that to cap rly. If you want to sit there and just cast indi-spells on yourself, then yea, it's gonna take forever. Get a high lv mob to target and it's not THAT bad. Afania said: » And what will happen if most players cheat/RMT? Things like cheating/RMT gives advantage to ppl who do it, and putting ppl not doing it in disadvantage. Let me give a up to date example of why I disagree with this. In a plasm run, a sacker who can move 20' as they are getting up compared to 1' can have a huge influence on how quickly they gather NM's and how quickly the party can start killing without fear of NM aggro. If you are a <insert non sack job>, you will benefit from the sackers cheating even if you do not notice. And furthermore a sacker moving at 160%+ and not lock on raise will be even more beneficial to the run. I realise this is a very specific example but it can be moved across other events. eg. NNI say you are brd or SCH or anything and one guy sprinting around lightning fast, clipping walls and gets you floor 100 win, did that not benefit you? Things like movement speed and ja0wait are used a lot more than most people think. And what about the people who say "Windower isn't cheating but 'blah blah' is" //fillmode lets you see through the walls and allows you to completely *** the situation without having put yourself or the party in danger. This blatantly gives an advantage. *edit* not to mention the macros >_> people say " well I can Gbind stuff and that's not against the ToS" but really it gives you a very noticeable advantage over console players. I think that the only playerbase who don't partake in some form of 'cheating' are those on the ps2 and xbox. (Im not saying they cant, I just don't know of anything) don't forget that //terminate is also cheating because it saves you 30s of time when you cant make it back to your mog house. >_> Asura.Kormak said: » Afania said: » And what will happen if most players cheat/RMT? Ummm not sure what your point are, the point you made actually supported my statement that "Cheater gets an advantage, if you don't cheat you're in disadvantage" A plasm pt with a clipper sack grinds more plasm than a pt with no clipper sack. So the pt doesn't clipper farms less plasm, what I said was correct. If you want to farm more plasm, your ally needs to cheat. Same applies to NNI. You tried to separate individual from ally/pt, but it doesn't work that way. If you don't cheat, you still need to rely on others to cheat for you, in the end it's the same. That's why SE ban entire pt in NNI if 1 person cheats. I also think they ban entire salvage ally if they dupe items, even if someone in that ally wasn't the one doing/planning it. Also, I never say windower isn't cheating. Click 1 macro for gear swap when you're supposed to click 2 or 3 isn't legit, since the game rule is "you must click 2 or 3 macros to swap gear". Whether macro system or skill up system is poorly designed or not is another issue. It seemed like you were blanketing cheaters and non cheaters and I was trying to prove that its not that simple. Non cheating people can sometimes benefit from others cheating.
Most actual Plasm farms are PUG groups ( Full LS usually either do 5 NM + MB or 3 NM + farm as practise = no sacker). If I misinterpreted your statement and you were not saying that people cheating never helps non cheating people then I apologise. As for this: Ragnarok.Afania said: » That's why SE ban entire pt in NNI if 1 person cheats. Just no. *edit* from personal experience you are wrong (unless its just whatever GM's feel like doing at the time) I dont even bother skilling up.. I just join tojil shouts and when my stuns or silence dont stick.. I blame the DDs for not killing fast enough.
It works for everyone else.......... Sylph.Tigerwoods said: » Just skilled up for 2 hours at a time in abyssea ule. Went in on mnk. Bluffalos pop DC to 99 and that's enough to cap A+ skill on anything. 3x Regen atmas (or 2x and a refresh) and you can pretty much just watch a movie or something while you skill. That's how I capped everything. Took like a week or two. I forget. I guess if you get them Even Match or higher (and Bluffalos often were), then the skilling goes faster.
