They're obligated to check if "you are you" as this is a harsh world and people POSING AS YOU could use social engineering to obtain a password reset and then compromise the account ... Fenrir.Candlejack said: » This thread, as well as the fact I can get extra inventory space for having a Token (which is dependent on the size of your basic gobby bag. I have an 80 slot bag and grand greedalox title), drove home the importance for me to gain that added measure of security. Not that I feel I need it since I purposefully make all passwords hard as *** to figure out for someone that doesn't know me directly and my line of thinking when making a password, but it's nice to know I have that added cushioning in case the unthinkable does occur and someone manages to figure them out. You do understand that there is not someone sitting there trying to figure out your password by understanding your line of thinking right? It is exploits which track your key strokes and/or info sent which has nothing to do with how crazy you get with your passwords. If you are going to sites that are fishy and pick one up no password is gonna protect you. The one time password tho I agree is a good idea to have and I personally use one. Shiva.Damonz said: » lol yes I understand that, but that would have been covered in the form I sent them for the rollback, you know the one where you have to send a copy of a photo ID and such. telling them what my char name, job levels, race, and such, does not prove I am who I say I am, any one of you could find that info just by searching my name on this site >.> Tongue in cheek SARCASM tag was not effective. ;)Yes they're dummies in a sense for asking so much stuff for recovering the data yet allow the perpetrators to in four clicks completely take over your game account(s) once they grab the SE account credentials. Me understanding the U.S. way of thinking and making jokes been a recent phenomenon. I'm still practicing/learning. ha ! This affects the latest version of Java (7 update 15). So disable it if you haven't already. Fenrir.Candlejack said: » Hm, while we're currently discussing the security token as well as account security, I have one small question. I live somewhere in the Northeastern United States, and ordered a Token this morning. How long should I expect the wait to be from time of order until the token is actually in my hand? and yeah, I disabled all my plugins actually, don't need'em...
(may need that silverlight one for netflix later, but have been watching it on other devices anyway :D Grand Prairie eh? You mean SE has a CS office within 45 minutes of me?
Hmm... I guess if my token battery dies I'll just go knock on their door! Update. Canceled the compromised account investigation on one account and just went through the Character Reactivation Service and got the account back within a half hour. All gil and liquidable items are gone as expected. Didn't have much RAR/EX on it worth mentioning but everything I did have is still there, including; AF3+2 mats, Empyrean items, Ebisu items, etc. So if you dont mind taking a hit and don't want to sit around for 6+ weeks this may be a good option for you.
