Quote: FINAL FANTASY XI Version Update (Sep. 26) At the following time, a version update was performed on FINAL FANTASY XI. * Windows and Xbox 360 clients will update automatically upon launch after release of the patch. [Date & Time] Sep. 26, 2012 at 9:30 (GMT) [Affected Service] - FINAL FANTASY XI [Update Details] The following bugs have been fixed: - The game may crash when items are displayed in your inventory or in the purchase screen on NPCs. (Windows and Xbox 360 only) Let's hope this puts an end to it. Fenrir.Sylow said: » Bugs happen, they make it into release versions, there are maintenances, and they get fixed. It's really nothing to get salty about. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE I WILL NEVER FORGIVE SE! Please remove the stick from your rear end, take two doses of reality, and call me in the morning. They already did one emergency maintenance that didn't fix the issue. Hopefully this second one will. That still doesn't make it acceptable to release a patch that, from what I have read, was already having issues on the test server and SE was told specifically about these problems yet did nothing about them. I'm not salty nor am I raging. I'm just saying that with a patch this minor causing this many issues, it isn't exactly instilling faith in a smooth launch of a full-blown expac. Sounds like someone has seriously messed up the coding. Wonder if it was the same someone who started the VU check too early and prevented everyone from logging in.
Edit: not a single crash here, job changed alot and spammed a load of draguas. I haven't been crashing, but I have been having item and magic sorting issues when I enter Abyssea. Each time I enter I have to resort my items even though it's set up on Auto and my magic list goes back to default as well. Not really a big deal, just odd. But a lot of people I know have been crashing left and right. I hope this latest fix helps them out.

I don't understand how you can honestly have this perspective. Were you not around for RoZ? TOAU? COP? WOTG? I totally expect SoA to be a complete mess. Ofcourse that should be expected with just about any new release. And SE has proven that there will be bugs to fix. So yeah. You are pretty much the only one who is shocked by this. I quit being shocked by anything SE did after they released XIV. Agreeing with others that it's ridiculous that this happened, along with an emergency update that STILL didn't fix the whole "can't play the game" problem and instead focused on fixing how items were displaying wrong, does not mean I am shocked. It's just a tad stupid to fix something like "Shipp uses a darksteel ingot" instead of the correct "Shipp uses a mithkabob" in an emergency maintenance but yet not fix the whole "Shipp can't even play the game for more than 5 minutes without crashing" problem. This second maintenance seems to have fixed the crashing though. So far I've been on an hour without a problem, and none of my friends have had issues either now. There was bugs with both TOAU and WOTG that made game unplayable esp WOTG they broke alot of things. http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/news_archives.html?1&page=16 just incase want to check can see the emergency maint after wotg update. Was a few 1hr warnings then 5hr update. 5 Crashes in a row, can't even stay logged in for more than 3-4 minutes. One crash at the char. select screen...
Im currently playing xbox and everytime i zone it will freeze for 2 mins or more is this a bug or just xbox???
Are the crashes still happening. Want to reactivate my account, but not sure if I should atm
My game just froze from doing nothing, standing in east ronfa. Rebooted and it made me update 5 files. Any info on this?
I was able to get on for a few hours but then I crashed while trying to access my mog satchel to empty some fish. Other than that idk...there are 900 some people logged on my server atm which is kind of low. I'd assume people are still crashing to some extent. Been on for an hour now again with no problems so far
I afk'd in Port Jeuno a while ago after successfully doing some Sobek runs. Probably was AFK about 2 hours or so. I came back and had the "Playonline has stopped working" error. I needed to reboot my PC anyway, so I'm not sure if it's due to that or due to the patch still, but I was able to play for a good 4-5 hours earlier without problems, though menus have been laggy at times and it seems to take an unusual length of time for items to load after zoning.
Anyone still getting PoL crash locked up an crashed twice in 10mins
This crashing is driving me insane... 6 times now and now I'm getting error 4001/3001, I'm able to browse the internet so it's definately a problem SE's end :/ When I log in now it says "Can't connect" and then "Version update failed"
Getting POL 3001/4001 on Virgin
Problems here too, Lancs UK, DC'd from being online 7hrs+ then I get 'version update' error and POL 1160 (xbox360). I have 4 browser tabs open atm and only 3 work or refresh ok.
