Wii U Launch Date, Price Announced!
HD as in high definition. The Wii U doesn't have a HDD, it's just a small SSD.

I see the Wii U more accurately as the Wii 1.5. It might be a full generation ahead of its predecessor, but compared to the competition it's basically just stepping up to the line. Which is completely fine. HD, current generation graphics, 3rd party support that refused to develop due to lack thereof; these are what the Wii has been sorely missing, and now it finally has. It's a Nintendo console with everything you'd hope a console to have. What's not to get excited about? As of now its overpriced, $350-400 is too high for current gen. And the online support, which was a disaster for the Wii, will not be fully known until the console is released. Fortunately, there is a great test being released in the form of Black Ops 2, which will tell people right away if the online is up to par. (not here, other places) To be fair that HDD is a poor attempt to give people what they want. It'll fill up very quickly. =/= beaten... /sulk I just hope it's easy to hack like the Wii, gogo homebrew and emulator ports (I think it's silly to rebuy games I already own...)
You can transfer virtual console games and WiiWare games to the Wii U, If you went that route.

I mean my collection of carts etc. + save states :D Not to mention I can change my menus the way I want them instead of being restricted by their arbitrary restrictions. Yeah you need a game to play.

The new Playstation and Xbox is gonna be way more expensive >_> The playstation 3 was TWICE as expensive as this when it was released. Put some AAA games on your system or I and many other don't give a damn anymore.

The new Playstation and Xbox is gonna be way more expensive >_> The playstation 3 was TWICE as expensive as this when it was released. the problem people have with it is the technology that they are using is literally almost the same as an xbox 360. triple core cpu and their graphics are direct x 10 capable only i believe. not even better than the ps3 :( though the price is only so high because of that damn tablet controller. i think i'm going to sell mine off and get 2 pro controllers instead lol. Still, $350 is nothing for a new console >_>
The dollar is really cheap now, so it might seem like less for me I suppose.. Bet the price is gonna be $400-450 here in Norway lol -_- Actually, I just checked what it costs.
613.83 USD for premium. Edit: 613 was a good offer too, seems like most stores do pre-orders for 701.55 USD. 758 dollars here

Fairy.Ghaleon said: » i'll be buying the basic, since the only thing i'm going to use it for is the new super smash bro's (and since i already have to shell out an extra $50~100 or more for a pro controller or 2.) *** you nintendo. Valefor.Prothescar said: » I think some need to be reminded that Nintendo, for many years (at least not since the "bit" days) never remained that competative in terms of hardware compacity in contrast with Sony and Microsoft. Instead they (and still do) rely on creating devices that centralize on a form factor or "innovations" that appeal to their long time target demograph of casual/family oriented players. However, this console is a significant (albeit rather dated) step up in capacity for Nintendo's usual safe played, and thus more affordable console releases. It is good to see them incorporate their dual screen concept outside of handhelds and into an at home platform. This has gotten the attention of developers and publishers alike, and for the first time ever, Nintendo has received sigificant third party support thanks to enabling them (but to a limited degree) with (now dated) needed hardware. However, the combination of sub par guts under the hood and the expense of their gamepads, I can't see this system having a very fruitful or lengthy timeline. Hopefully with the niche of AAA titles coming out and spacing out their exclusive franchise releases will fan out the flawed foundation of the Wii U. Putting the hardware aside though, I look forward to what it is capable of in terms of synergizing gameplay, online use and the television itself.
I'll probably get the deluxe... just cause...
350 ain't really that much... and I actually see a few games on there that I am really wanting :3 I am waiting for a proper Metroid game in HD. Then i will buy the system.
Kind of exited about it, but im still going to wait a while before I get 1. Yeah, Bayonetta 2 wasn't even going to be made, then I guess nintendo bought the rights As much as I actually liked Bayonetta and look forward to it's eventual sequel, I would have been significantly more excited to hear about something like Mirror's Edge 2.
Would totally ***bricks to see the revival of such a great game at the foundation. Jetackuu said: » =/= beaten... /sulk Ah, sorry, I saw some people talking about the amount of storage and storage options before you made that post. I just figured you forgot/dropped the second 'D'. Still, I'd really like an HDD that can be upgraded like the PS3 one. USB/Flash memory is okay but it is a (slightly)more expensive/inconvenient option. Ragnarok.Kongming said: » The N64 was pretty much the last console Nintendo tried to claim the technological edge with, and they screwed that one up by choosing an outdated media format. Also, not sure why people are complaining about price, PS3 was $750 on release here in Aus, I can pre-order the premium wii-U for $428. So yeah, that's pretty damn cheap. However, that makes no *** sense to me, since that's nearly a hundred bucks more than for you Americans, even though that $350USD price tag equates to $330AUD. So yeah, get *** lol. And $60 games? Try $99. I repeat, get ***. |
