After being a little persistent/annoying, he told me that the only restorable version is the Lv90 version, and that "If I can restore the lv90 version (which maybe be possible), to the best of my knowledge (from previous experience), you would just have the base level 90 version. You would not be able to upgrade it from there."

Wtf? @.@

Seriously, wtf???

Called another GM this morning to see what was going on. After being a little persistent/annoying, he told me that the only restorable version is the Lv90 version, and that "If I can restore the lv90 version (which maybe be possible), to the best of my knowledge (from previous experience), you would just have the base level 90 version. Why do I feel like I'm being trolled by gms now? >_>

Anyone reading this that had an item restored, where they able to continue trials on them?

Think I might try calling a little later and see what I can do about a rollback.

LMAO that is so *** untrue, you need to just call them up and talk to a senior person their, note the GM name so you can throw it to him, screenshot the convo in case you need to send it in, that statement is pure and utter ***.

Gl with it my friend I know your pain lost my Verethragna a couple months ago exactly the same way you just did. Sadly in my case I had to start over GM neither SE Support were any help. Honestly their item recovery system is just bs.

It's funny because I know for a fact that as far as the technology goes, GMs can technically insert any item they feel like inserting into you at any time they see fit.

The GM system in FFXI is possibly the worst in-game support I've ever seen in the past ~17 years I've been on the internet.

Even the immortals (unpaid coders/GMs) in the MUD I used to play were more helpful than GMs in FFXI, and a lot of those people were real ***.

The GM system is just broken. Always has been. I have zero GM calls ever because I've never seen one actually help a friend with anything; only further frustrate them or, at best, say "Sorry, we really can't do anything" and LEAVE.

Edit for anecdotal story: Many years ago, the wife once had three or four items completely dissapear out of her inventory whilst in Dynamis (her Joyeuse and a few other smaller items). She was absolutely distraught (this was back when a Joyeuse was hot ***and it was her most prized possession). She called a GM, they essentially said "try logging on/off and see if it comes back, but there's nothing we can do."

This was before the rollback/item restore policy. They were content with items just going away and them not doing anything about it.

If it had been a relic -- especially at that time -- I would have stopped playing right then and there.

Granted this instance actually is user error, but within context of their current policies, there's zero reason they can't restore it exactly as it was.

Useless ***.

I made a thread on the OF with a few suggestions, not sure how much attention it'll get from anyone that actually works at se.

My only real gripe with all this is the lack of being able to restore Augmented items, when that's what a good majority of the game revolves around now. (Af3, Af2+2, Magian weapons, empyreans, relics, mythics, etc all fall into this category of not being able to be restored). It's just plain silly/stupid. I can understand how they might not be able to restore random augments like Synergy/FoV augments etc, or restore your weapon to the exact kill count that the trial was on, but saying that anything from the moogle can't be restored is just completely shitting on the player base :/

Dont get the unfortunate means of getting you the same GM that originally told you to "FU" like ive just got!!

GM1 : we cant undo
Gm2 - we technically can ill escalate this for you - call back later
Calls back gets GM1
GM1: NOPE! deal with it

test them, tell them to do it. I would bet its more work to cockblock it from being able to put trials on it than it is to just restore it.

I pm'd the guy that lost his Almace, .. if you look very carefully in his screenshot, the almace has no Aug tag on it. He was kind enough to try trading it to the moogle for me, and he said he was able to get the next trial, and the Aug sign came back up on his weapon.

Hoping the gm got confused between not being able to restore trial data and not being to do trial data ever again...

Think I'm gonna wait for the SGM and if he says he can only restore the lv90 version without being able to do more trials on it, and that actually ends up being the case, then I'll just bother their call center until I can hopefully get a rollback >_>

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I really don't wanna be stuck with a semi-gimp Lv90 relic forever :/

My bestfriend and I used to live together, and our computers were next to each other. One day, we were both chocobo'ing through Western Altepa Desert and I was going through my inventory tossing ***. A piece of rotten meat sorted into my inventory at just the right second, and I tossed my Optical Hat. This was when it was actually relevant and pretty hard to get at the time. I stopped moving, stared at my screen and freaked him out for a good thirty seconds. Then started running around screaming fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, irl. Took me like ten minutes to tell him what I actually did.

SE can do anything they want to do, even after telling you it's just not possible.I know this for a fact from 2 occassions.Keep on and on and on and on.......etc and you will get what you want. You may need to phone them up and get them to ask the JP to sort it out(as was my cases) but you WILL get it eventually.

They really like it when you say it like that too. If you can't get any help say "why don't you get those japs on it. I hear them asians are better with technology. Those squinty eyes focus on numbers and math better." That's sure to get your problem solved.

Just spam the ***out of the GMs, requesting to speak to a SGM or LGM. They will make sure your item is restored regardless of what it is. I think they just tell GMs to feed people drivel just in case to cockblock liars.

Agreed, not quite as devastating as a completed relic, but your story reminded me of how i got myself into this situation - tired, not concentrating etc. Next thing, i'd bought 24 one byne bills for 18.7M. Never got any reply from the guy, gave up trying after 2 weeks of sending /tells. lesson learnt.

From what I understand, 1 time rollbacks are for stolen/hacked accounts in which SE has to run an investigation and verify there was illegal intrusion. They make you sign some forms and provide identification and if it goes through, rolls back to what ever date they last saved

If everyone lost an item regardless what it was due to player's fault or glitch in the system (when the GM says working as intended), they would be overwhelmed with requests and wouldn't be able to draw lines.

On the other hand, I don't see the problem for the SE team to your back your account as your one time restore. It's not like you can trade away r/e items and gain a profit from it.

Best of luck.

Misunderstanding from him.

They can't give you your relic with any augment on it, but if they give you say level 90 Mandau, you'll be able to trial it further. For there is only one ID of this weapon and trials aren't "follow-ups", they are independant.

I'm not sure why you would bother sending them messages. They didn't accidentally put them in their bazaar at an inflated price.

It may be a shitty thing to do, but I can only go so far to condemn someone for setting such an obvious trap. Don't be careless, and it isn't an issue.

Wow, that really sucks. I've seen a LOT of people on Odin with bazaars like that, which is why I always make an effort to be super anal about what I buy. I've had people bragging that they made hundreds of millions of gil from this, and other people that lost like 50-60m off it.

While you can easily argue "be careful what you buy" - this is a pretty blatant/obvious scam/intent to scam, and imo is something that SE should step in about. A few ban/temp bans of people doing this, and I'm sure it'd stop really quickly.

I've played WoW on and off for years, from semi-casual to super hardcore, and while I'm not trying to debate game mechanics or which game is better, there's really no doubt Blizzard customer support is a million miles above SEs'. Any sort of scamming (like above) would be grounds for immediate termination of your account, and getting pretty much anything restored in game has never been a problem.

At any rate, no SGM today, and servers are coming back up too late for me. Maybe tomorrow =(
