Meh, depends on the purpose of your maths. In this case it doesn't, but severely overvaluing attack is a pretty massive error in other circumstances. I can give you a spreadsheet that calculates pDIF for you so you don't have to bother with doing it yourself.

You have a simple means of calculating an accurate average pDif based on cRatio? If so, please let me see it.

I would also like this formula D:

This is correct, and one of the primary reasons that multiattack weapons are useless.

An exception to this rule, though, would be Jailer Weapons. Those can have both an OAT proc and other multiattack procs on the same attack round.

Are all multi-attack weapons useless? or are you counting only weapons that attack more than twice? I heard the GS with OaT was good for Resolution spam, etc. I also heard the lvl 99 OaT Polearm was also good (Mirrors/Sand version). Was thinking about making one.

He's writing in the context of one-handed weapons.

As someone who works part-time as a mathematics tutor for young people, I applaud the attention to calculations etc. displayed in this thread.

However, at some point, focusing on math too hard crosses the line, and ends up taking the fun out of playing a video game, doesn't it?

Who's to say that very thing is not where fun is to be derived from? This is not where I find my definition of fun but some do; I imagine they look at it like a puzzle to be solved.

That, and

I want to be the very best,
Like no one ever was.
To catch them is my real test,
To train them is my cause.

I will travel across the land,
Searching far and wide.
Each Blue Magic to understand
The power that's inside

(Gotta catch 'em all)

It's you and me
I know it's my destiny

Blue Magic!

You're my best friend,
In a world we must defend.
Blue Magic

(Gotta catch 'em all)

A heart so true.
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I'll teach you.
Blue Magic.

(Gotta catch 'em all)

Yeah
Every challenge along the way
With courage I will face.
I will battle everyday
To claim my rightful place.

Come with me the time is right.
There's no better team.
Arm and arm well win the fight.
It's always been our dream.

Blue Magic!

(Gotta catch 'em all)

It's you and me
I know it's my destiny

Blue Magic!

Oh, your my best friend,
In a world we must defend.
Blue Magic!

A heart so true.
Our courage will pull us through.
You teach me and I'll teach you.

You can't just put Blue Magic in place of pokeymans:

Like no one ever was.
To learn them is my real test,
To use them is my cause.

Good point Galbir, and well said.

I guess like most things, I'd attest that moderation is best. I love beer, and drinking beer is fun, but if I go overboard, I might puke and then feel like *** the next day, which pretty much negates the fun factor. Surely, math doesn't cause nausea or dehydration, but you see my point.

whats the highest amount of QA/TA/DA you think you could get? Ill say for thf since i find them using em the most. I threw this together real quick. Mearly for trying to see the highest value out their. Not as a real set. Tho I'm sure their are a few better pieces i didn't notice. QA +4% TA +25% DA +23% (Not counting legion effect on ring) Edit: @Kirana - Brutal added. The ring i didnt tho due to it being a latent of 100+mp.

at what point do you think would actuly start loseing on damge output use3ing only q/ata/da over str/atk?

When you make the first swap that causes your overall DPS to go down? ;) I'm not sure what other answer you could expect.

You may attest that, but it doesn't make your claim universally valid. Mileage will vary from person to person. Some prefer moderation, others prefer a little, others a lot. I tend to deconstruct just about anything I play (and many other aspects of my life) simply because I'm insatiably curious about how things work and I enjoy figuring out how to apply that knowledge. Others are content to take things at face value. If anything I'd argue that theorycrafting and analysis extended my enjoyment of FFXI rather than devaluing it, though this is certainly impacted by my opinion of FFXI's content as a whole.
