Was curious about leveling areas outside of Aby that are 75+? I have a friend that is a fresh character and I rather not join aby groups and build lights to kick him out every 5 levels. I know they replaced the Citadel Basement with level 90 mobs, but was curious about the level 75-85 ones? I assume you can still get Kindred and H. Kindred from 75+ mobs.

There's birds (Seaboard Vulture) right outside the northern exit to Misareaux Coast that are 83-84.

What would be a decent place at 50ish? I was doing CN for awhile and was thinking of moving the B tree once I hit 53-54?

I'd personally do the Chamber Beetles behind gate... 3 I think. Those are level 56-58. If you could, I'd try avoiding PLD mobs, though.

Two questions, the first one is where does one get a "Isa Belt". The second is I'm looking for what Neo Salvage gives the fastest run/best amount of Alex per run ratio. Also wouldn't mind a walkthrough or rundown on how to achieve this. I know some people mentioned doing a specific one and doing only parts that guaranteed alex for kills. Like a chariot/gate thing that spawns gears that 100% and skipping a room that had a CHANCE to drop. Keep in mind I wouldn't be doing this on thief. I just cant seem to find the particular thread so I was curious if there were some speedrunners to get pointers from.

I've done Neo salvage like once and this was MONTHS ago so explain it like i'm a moron if you don't mind. And thanks :3.

Utkux for the belt, Arrapago II for the salvage.

Found this post for AR2:

Speedrun Strategy:

unlock everything except body on 1f > port to 5f > unlock body on 5f > port to 6f > kill one normal chariot for str and dex > hundred fists armored chariot > pop khimaira > port to 7f > kill boss

should be able to do it in 20-30 min depending on gear.

^^^ Does this sound about right?

With skipping that much you should be sub 20 minutes in top gear as thf. No idea on mnks current speed in salvage. Myself I add in the unlocks for stats on floor 3, acroliths on floor 4, the ramparts with triple gears on floor 5, all the chariots in the main room on floor 6 and side rooms. Runs take around 30-34 minutes depending on tenebrous mist on khims. That is about 48 extra alexandrites before linen with zero cotton pouches from acroliths.

Suppose I could Dust off the thief and throw on my Taeon gear from PUP,but I would mainly be doing this on PUP with a RDM puppet more than likely. Curious if this changes anything or is it worth the extra 15 min for 48 alex, we are talking guaranteed alex right? If that is the case I guess its up to me to decide.

There are 4 ramparts which summon 7 triple gears each when they use Reinforcements. There are also a bunch of chariots on floor 5. All triple gears, ramparts, and chariots guarantee drop 1 alexandrite, can drop 2 though.

Those are the only guaranteed ones besides the boss pouch correct?

Yep. All other NMs can a cotton pouch, and the NQ Khimaira can potentially drop a linen too. Single gears can also drop 1 alex. The rates on these are fairly low and only worth it if you're trying to get every last alex in a run, disregarding the time cost.

I know they replaced the Citadel Basement with level 90 mobs, but was curious about the level 75-85 ones? I assume you can still get Kindred and H. Kindred from 75+ mobs.

If you have a level 99 character, you have a few options to level him quickly outside of abyssea:
* Do Grounds of Valor. The Crawler's Nest on King Crawlers is great, Josiah told me about this and I agree it rocks. Eventually they get like 4k exp per regimen. Gustav Tunnel is also really great, faster but less profitable and you can't start ppl at level 1 there. A great DD can keep the entire room on spawn tho and you net 150k-300k exp an hour depending on prowess.
* Since it's double exp campaign just go to adoulin. Either have them join in on a capacity points farming party if you have 119 gear. That or AoE nuke a ton of weaker (lvl 107 to 111) mobs. Marjami Ravine is good for this. It's really really fast exp. You can get 40 merit points an hour. Not sure how it'd effect a really low level char. Solo you can get 4k exp per kill, I haven't tested what a low level in party would get, but seen others leveling mules that way before. Bats have higher evasion but die faster if you have the gear for it. Crabs and Pugils in Dho Gates alongside the bats so you can pick your mob.
* Just have them do the Inventor's Coalition turn in quests. It starts out slow but builds pretty quickly as you rise in status. Best to just use that for subjobs. In a few days of doing that with max standing you can get to level 30. It just involves turning in stuff you can buy cheap off the AH. Doubles that it will help adoulin fame and give you bayld.

Also suggest having him use the rings you buy with conquest points, they give a ton of bonus exp now.

One I never tried too much too is Boyahda Tree, the botters are gone from there now so you could make decent vendor trash money, nothing like you used to but still decent, while also doing grounds of valor there. If you can somehow get your friend able to do 500+ dmg to a lot of mobs too, you can do the grounds of valor on the weaker mobs there, rack up crystals, mobs killed, 500+ dmg, records of eminence quests completed for a lot of bonus exp. You can pull the entire room of bunnies and mandragoras and get some pretty good exp that way. I wouldn't recommend it but worth a try, you'll be fighting 30+ mobs at a time and 500+ dmg completion is 5k exp and I think that is what you get for 200 mobs killed too, and the cystals add up. Since there's frequently lightning weather there you can also opt in for lightning geodes and ramites.

Forgot to mention too, in gustav tunnel due to frequent sandstorm weather, earth geode and titanites are great records quests to keep active. Crawler's Nest frequent water weather so you can guess what that would mean.
Sounds great but was hoping to farm Higher tier seals for the 75-95 LB quests. I know I can give him all of my Sacred Crests from Adoulin Mobs but I am not 100% on how conversion rates go. Can you trade SKC for 3 of the lower tier and so on or is it 3 for 1 going up or down? I dont seem to recall.

So revised:

Unlock everything except body on 1f > port to 5f > unlock body on 5f and kill 4 Ramparts/Triple Gears/Chariots for guaranteed alex > port to 6f > Kill armored chariot > pop khimaira > port to 7f > kill boss?

Also dont recall thief boosting the pouch rate/alex that much, not really a fan of THF either >3>. Rather focus on guaranteed alex and get it over with daily at a faster rate and get it done. I know THF's kill speed would be sick with Rudra's but I can't *** myself into paying the gill to unlock it when i just play it for niche farming purposes. Stopped farming dyna so Rudra for just Salvage is meh, rather have fun on PUP while getting alex.

Kill a Flytrap on F3 if you want AGI and MND unlocked. 5f triple gears unlock STR/DEX, so you'll have that done before 6f since you're killing those.

This is how I do ARII speed run on blu/run:

1F 1-2 Vulture > 1-2 Merrow Kabukidancer > Skip rest
2F 1-2 Leech > Merrow Chantress > Skip rest
3F 1 Flytrap to unlock dex/agi/mnd > 1 Merrow Chantress if missed related unlocks on 2F > Skip rest
4F Skip floor
5F Try to avoid all single gears > 1 single gear to unlock body > Get all ramparts to pop > Train them and subduction all
6F Ignisx2, barparalyze, barblizzard > Armored Chariot > Khim > Skip rest

side note: I don't bother with casting anything other than erratic and regen until 6F.

If you are doing on MNK, I would highly recommend you to make sure to bring remedies (for chariot and khims) and an install shell scroll for khims to save time (and for safety). While it is true that stat vomit lets you dodge most attacks, paralyze can still be a huge annoyance when it happens to go through.

Planning on doing this as PUP so I think I should be fine with the shell and support, still may have to bring remedies but I will be subbing /DNC most likely so I can healing waltz most stuff off. Thanks for your very in depth breakdown, saves me the time to make a route and kill list.

Has anybody rebought FFXI in the last few weeks?

I tried buying it from the sqex shop (I know, shoulda known better). After 10 days, one email and two phone calls to customer services, still no CD key, so I gave up.

I just bought it on Steam, and when I try to get the CD code, I get "Failed to contact key server".

Anybody else?

Are they seriously not generating new keys after all their "let's get everyone back for the finale" ***?

"SE just wants XI to die anyway", etc etc

If you go on PUP, on floor 1 you should go straight for the Leeches to unlock Ranged/Ammo so you can use your Automaton. I personally kill Vultures/Leeches/Kabukidancer/Shadowdancer since you have fewer enemies on the 2nd floor.
