Because it is Jealousy.
It really is jealousy. You're obviously jealous you don't make enough money to send your kids to a private school for better education.
What's wrong with a parent wanting the best education for their child, and might have to transfer their kids, who might be the next Albert Einstein, to a public school, where the education is much lower?
not really..... i've visited a public school too.... got an average of 3 (C) without doing anything outside school.... now i'm doing Abitur (should equal your higher school), it's public too.... physics 1 (A) math & english 2 (B) geography 3 (C) German (funny because i'm german 4 [D]) and once again i haven't done any stuff outside school for the school.... and you still want to tell me that public schools suck? :o

anyway i think we have a better social system as your country....so the gap between poor and rich isn't that big....consider please that the parents of the rich perhaps think that their children shouldn't go into a school with the "scum" , hardly spoken.... or that they are afraid that their kids get robbed or something like this.... the gap is an important point as well.

Oh no, my little Johnny is too good to go to school with kids of parents who make less than $100k/year!
Thinking that another person is scum because of their socioeconomic standing makes you a douchey ***, and I'm French.

But please excuse me, I tend not to have sympathy for people who live beyond their means, and base their purchases on how much available credit they have, or the possibility of a fat quarterly bonus.
the US economy is built upon people buying things they don't need, and a large quantity of persons managed to "shape up" rather quickly when the economy hit them hard, which in turn caused the economy to worsen as it's based on things WE DON'T NEED.
for me, and many others being able to afford food AND gas is living beyond our means...

If you're referring to how does No child left behind hurt society, it's because it detracts from higher learning. School are told to enforce a bare minimum education requirement and anything beyond that is whatever the budget allows for. Putting this bill into effect took school money away from many sorts of higher learning (music, arts, advanced courses) and put it into mass testing that is still being pulled into question of what it is actually testing for.
I'm sorry but these subjects are overemphasized on as it is in the US.
even in public school.
but yes it is still very questionable.

they weren't optional when I was in school, hell even in public college (community still) I just had to take a pointless art class last semester.
if they were 100% percent optional I wouldn't have said it.
edit:

you should start to inform yourself about "how money is created"
i'll give you a short summarize...
The Fed offers loans to banks... in this case it is physical money...
the banks keep a safety deposit of 10% and they offer the 90% to companies and private households....this is book money...
in numbers it looks like this:
bank takes a loan of 10k from the FED
company A takes a loan of 9k from the bank A
company A buys stuff from company B
company deposits the 9k at bank B
bank B keeps 10% (0,9k) and offers the 90% for loan (8,1k)
and so on...
at this stage the amount of 10k has risen to 27,1k and will continue to rise....but still only 10k exist physically...
so if people don't live beyond their means then there would no money exist all.... because the bank which takes a loan from the FED is living beyond her means as well :x
also most of the money doesn't even exist, physically.
Edit: it is a debt-based system

I don't care if I have to work a second job my kids will NEVER go to a public school and if that makes me a snob then so be it. Charter schools only so I don't have to worry about some hack who has tenure mailing it in and instead can count on teachers who can be held accountable if they are sub par.

In my town the teachers at the charter schools were sleeping with the students and the principle is under investigation by the ACLU for clearly showing racist behavior towards the only black child. So yea, have fun with your charter schools.

edit:
like they built the fine arts building BEFORE the technology building...

Buildings at colleges are usually built depending on private donations or internal funding to a department, not according to what's actually needed.
For me, art/music were completely optional past elementary school. In Middle/High school, one could choose between technology classes, shop, home economics, music, art, creative writing, dance, drama, etc for those random elective courses.
In College, different departments have different policies. Mine has the most "Strict" policy, requiring 3 credits (1 course) out of a 120 credit programme to come from a wide variety of courses that fall into an area called "Creativity and the Aesthetic Experience."
I don't think it's unreasonable to require 1 class out of 40 to be arts related (other areas required for all majors to varying degrees are Quantitative Analysis and Logic (Math + Statistics), Scientific Reasoning and Discovery, Critical Issues in a Global Context (this includes courses like comparative government, etc.), Society and Human Behavior, Cultural Traditions and Values or whatever it's called (inc. things like Women's Studies or something).
Colleges want to produce well-rounded graduates.
That said, there's a lot of data to support that music/arts education are positively correlated with overall academic performance. A lot of it has potential to be biased, but music and arts are something that have been important parts of human culture and education for thousands of years, you'd think if it were getting in the way we'd have dropped it by now.

if i'm working two jobs and the other guy can't find one then he's not looking hard enough. there are plenty of jobs out there people just don't want to suck up their pride and take one that may not be EXACTLY what they are looking for. my goal is to set my kids up to where they won't have to worry about doing the same by getting them as far ahead as i can. yay capitalism and sorry if that doesn't fit into your socialist utopia.

if i'm working two jobs and the other guy can't find one then he's not looking hard enough. that's the *** the capitalists say to everyone....in my country we have 5 million unemployees and 500000 free positions..... that's 10 unemployees for 1 position....now tell me please how should everyone get a job?
Edit: of course everyone could do 1/10 of the work of the position.... do you think that the income is high enough if you work only 1 hour per day?

Bonus Withdrawal Puts Bankers in "Malaise"
I almost feel bad for these people.....not!
Quote: "People who don't have money don't understand the stress," said Alan Dlugash, a partner at accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron LLP in New York who specializes in financial planning for the wealthy. "Could you imagine what it's like to say I got three kids in private school, I have to think about pulling them out? How do you do that?"
I wonder how he does it? The horror of pulling his kids out of private school of the humanity.
Please discuss
