dring would cost more than a Relic, that's for sure. As for augmented dark rings, yes those cap most jobs(all jobs?), but dring opens up more flexibility and optimization.

I'd charge 180m but I'd get the person who is buying to buy the pop item for it first regardless of if it dropped or not.

Cuz KB isn't THAT hard... I just went 1/1 on this mind you 1/20~ in shank upgrades.. is it possible drop % has gone up or im just a very lucky taru? Either way reading this kinda makes me wish i'd sold it and got a couple relics :/ lol

Statistics, they're a ***. i seen more than 18+ drings i think, on my server, native form lakshmi, and like 2 transfered.

My only real point is that it doesn't drop like like rain. No 2 dark rings give dt-12% but a dring and a dark ring gives dt-16%. No idea where people get that 2 dark rings are better than a dring and a dark ring. If you are comparing 2 rings against one its a bit silly there is a free slot for another ring like the 90hp ring or w/e you want to use.

Perfect Dark Ring = 6% MDT 6% PDT 6% BDT x2 = 12% MDT 12% PDT 12% BDT Defending Ring 10% DT + Minerva's Ring 8% MDT = MDT-18%....which is better than 12% from 2 dark rings for MDT. Defending Ring 10% DT + Dark Ring 6% PDT = 16% PDT....which is better than 12% from 2 dark rings for PDT. Sylph.Siccmade

Yeah, at 4am or w/e my thoughts are a bit convoluted.
2 Dark rings wouldn't be better, they'd be easier (even that is time/luck based) I was comparing the option of farming 2 quality Dark rings over the chance at a D.Ring. Sylph.Siccmade said: » I'd rather have a D. Ring and spare a ring slot for added utility. Seen some dude shout to buy dring for 100m on Cerb lately
It would cost you about 200mil + labor to "farm" one just by buying HQ pops, which may actually be the cheapest way to get one.

If you're rocking defending ring in a MDT set, most likely you could drop Minerva's for Shadow, which is gonna do so much more for you when you're capped, and on just about every job, that's a hell of a lot easier to do. I know that,I'm just posting the numbers between dual dark rings and other % based rings. Not sets or better options, etc -Spending days to farm for two 6-6-6 rings is definitely a more viable option compared to paying some of the ridiculous prices some people are throwing up for a d-ring.
-You can cap 50% mdt/pdt in the same build on paladin with way less effort/money than obtaining a d-ring. In the best possible build wouldn't you rather dual archon ring/shadow ring instead of worrying about a 10% reduction in mdt when it's so easy to cap mdt without using ring slots? I honestly can't see the value in a d-ring when everyone knows the main point of it is for mdt. Price all depends how much gil I had, really... if I had 999,999,999 gil and all the relics/emps I wanted, I'd drop up to 200m on it... even if I think that's an overpay.
As a monk, I wouldn't especially need it... PDT is pretty easy to cap so not worried there... the value is more in MDT. Tantra+2/Twilight/Brutal/Merman's Avalon/Denali/Dark6/Shadow Mollusca/BlkBlt/Tantra+2/Tantra+2 = -25% MDT (roughly capped with Shell V), 25% Haste, Occ. Null Damage... I like the idea of keeping Haste capped on a MDT set for ***that just spams spells/AoEs... That's currently the set I'm working on... still need a couple of pieces. Bismarck.Altar said: » Carbuncle.Blazer said: » I honestly can't see the value in a d-ring when everyone knows the main point of it is for mdt. huh? I meant nothing in the game does physical damage attacks so backbreaking that a benefit of 4% through a ring (considering optimal pdt of dring + darkring vs dual darkrings) is worth the price. Cuz KB isn't THAT hard... Selling the ring? And they would have to buy the shank too before we popped it... whats so hard about this. (Total price 185m ish) So you charge 180m for killing KB? Sounds fair.

(Total price 185m ish) I'm a little confused. You're saying they buy the pop, then they pay you if ring drops? That's kinda silly... Hey KB is hard guys and people are paying for it to be killed for them, not for the ridiculously low drop rate item off a NM that's popped via another rare pop item..
On a serious note: Not counting random kills throughout the years before the HNM update, currently about 0/32 on rings off KBs since update. Done spending money of shitty overpriced pops. Hate this new system. After seeing this topic in the forum I now see D Ring is the 3rd top viewed item.
To me this says there is a lot of people playing FFXI who didn't know what D Ring was. Which to me means there is a "generation" of players playing now who don't understand how hard it used to be to get D Ring. |
