Yeah, someone mathed it out on BG a strong 6hit beats out the strongest 5hit by about 2.7%

Edit:For the people who havn't seen/read it/want proof or whatever.

Isn't a 6-hit masamune > 5-hit in abyssea currently? Thought I saw Gradd or someone say it was.

Well also you should consider the upcoming update's "Store TP V" Trait coming in at Lv90 now.

ya its only 5 more STP..its not a HUGE bonus...it helps, but its not game-breaking to the point the 5 hit smashes the 6... that thread has a lot of good info about it

You'd be giving up sword strap, which lowers the delay for the 6hit build for rose strap still (Would let you keep Atheling mantle instead of tactical mantle) would let you use Bullwhip belt over goading belt for more haste, but you're still not going to cap haste on SAM with 5hit

Yeah, though I was psyched about finishing up my gear set for 5-hit, that thread brought up some good points I didn't even know anything about that really have me changing my mind.

Achieving a lower x-hit has always been better than capping Haste. The only way capped haste + 6-hit would beat out 5-hit with a wee bit less haste would depend on your current buffs. Obviously, at high haste values with samba + double march and all that stuff, you would definitely want to be at max haste over a 5-hit.

Edit: I think the only ways to cap gear haste on SAM besides /drg would be with Zelus Tiara or those Haste legs off of Ironclad? So yeah, you'd be dropping either AF3 head or legs for them.

Not quite getting this one. So you having a Masamune makes everyone have to use Fudo or...? Explain?

No, but even Jinpu is superior with proper atmas and food. Also, Rana is hard.

I forgot you automatically get Fudo when you ding 90, silly me for not knowing.

Don't mind him, he's rolling in deep with the 6-hit Masa build!

Good job noticing it's Lv80 Masamune and I don't fight with it yet? O_o

But, hypothetically if that *was* the set I was wearing to use a Lv85+ Masamune, why wouldn't you assume I was using a regain atma? O wate gaiz peepul do stuff osside Abyssea.

Sure, Jinpu is superior if you smack on MAB/Smiting Blow, etc atmas. Which is decreasing your damage elsewhere. Jinpu is only ever nice for damage spikes, e-peen, and brewing.

Gekkos are going to outdamage Jinpu most of the time, especially if you're not /WAR. You'll still see occassional huge spikes with RR/VV/Apoc atmas, but like always, consistency > a few damage spikes here and there. Also, Gekko needs alot less attack than Jinpu if we're talking non-EXP mobs. I honestly do not see the problem with Gekko, and obviously neither has anybody else.

I think the fact SAM rarely sees any practical use besides EXP, staggering, or brewing makes my argument valid.

Also in terms of consistency, it seems on average 100tp Rana can be as effective/more effective than 100tp Gekko, with WAR sub at least. (Not sure why you'd use another sub on SAM...) Aside from straight damage, consider the additional TP output and highly reduced chance to miss completely.

I am curious though, unless you're holding TP just so you can swing more for high damage criticals (seems counterproductive), why would you use RR on SAM?

I'm a bit embarassed however that I managed to completely neglect the usage of Rana, having used it quite often myself. So I'll give you that one. However, I still don't see Gekko as being a bad WS to use.

*shrug* I havn't played sam in a long, long while so It's hard to say if it's the same thing with WAR since Im only reading the info off BG and such. But seeing as 5hitting masamune requires a big sacrifice of some stats Im not sure it's worth 5hitting anyway.

Entirely understandable. I used to toy around with Jinpu wayyyyy before Abyssea/post-75 cap was around, and it always had fun DA/Crit damage spikes.

Yeah, that's the only bad part. You lose Atheling, you lose sword strap, and all that jazz. It's going to be alot easier to pull of with an extra tier of STP. It's possible currently to use Ace's Mufflers and maintain 5-hit, so at least now we'll be able to drop Tactical Mantle.

Doing a seal NM (or worse +2 item NM before the multiple pop spots update), a JP alliance shows up and spams the NM, refusing to alternate pops or even communicate. - Happened so many times...

Shouting for over a hour in PJ trying to put together a group for a NM.
me: BLU BRD {Can I Have It?}
dumbass: How many people do you have?
me: 6
(I said so in the shout.)
dumbass: {more stupid questions}
dumbass: ok {Invite to Join Party}
me: job?
dumbass: SAM.
-_______________-

Joined a Iratham shout for a chance at atma/body. After waiting for the leader to fill up a whole alliance for it he goes "OK some are here for win, some are here for atma, so I'm reserving the body, I need it for my PLD."
/disband

Any shout that goes "Dynamis Xarcabard currency R 1st THF R" (Post patch), people reserving ***on timed pop NMs/without having Key Items, etc.

People that joini such shouts.

people who used to intentionally invite a smn for main healing despite there being at least 2-3 whms seeking at the same level, (pre level sync) for the reason "you have more mp" and "thats all that smn is good for", seriously.

Player: BLM / WHM Can I have it? Must buy popset.

Those are just a few things that bother me when I see it.

What's wrong with that?
If I'm doing a shout group for an nm like that, I expect everybody to buy a popset >_>
If you cant afford it, don't join.

I did a shout pty for the Atma of the Cosmos and took some Jp who used a brew.

Well what exactly happened is my group went out there and found a Jp trio - mnk, whm and 3rd forgot what job and they were taking it down/slowly wiping. I sent the mnk a /tell team up? we only want the atma, and a 2nd tell few mins later wen situation looked worse, alliance? nothing. Anyway they wiped we claimed it at 10% I cycled a few staff ws on mnk to find the element I narrowed it down to koki or light sword ws. One guy does his sword ws clean then this Jp whiffs koki twice due to Iratham casting/doing tp move. Then he pops a brew does 2 more failed kokis then finishes it off with seraph strike also unclean and kills it no atma. Total waste of a brew and time just had to warp and shout for it again as most of them only cared for the kill.

JP aren't very much different from us. I hate when people pull that card. "Well, we were camping so and so until some JPs came along and f***ed everything up for us. I hate JPs. :(" Same exact thing can happen with NA players as well.

Some JPs are the nicest dudes I know in-game, and others can be complete and total douchebags. I don't see how that's any different from NA, where some people are ***, and others are douchebags. The only difference is, the JP douchebags ignore you outright, where as the NA douchebags will talk ***to you. I think I prefer the JP douchebags over the NA douchebags, much less confrontational.

PS: This post isn't directed towards anybody in the thread. Your posts just reminded me that alot of people stereotype JP in this fashion, though. Felt like adressing it.
