Well I am coming to a point where I can no longer play FFXI (no time for it really)

What would be best course of action to deal with the account?

Just a heads up, I wont be able to play for at the very least of 2 years (give or take).

Should I leave it in limbo (just kinda being there)

Should I sell the account?

or something else?

You aren't going to get much for that account, I can tell you that right now just by looking at your page. If you have a lot of gil or items you can liquidate then you can sell all that and redeem the gil I guess and close down the account till you decide you wanna mess with it again. The game really only requires 1~2 hours a day nowdays... can complete a full af3 item in 2 hours lol. Really depends on yourself, if you have to be the bestest or if you are content with being slow paced.

depends on how nice your acount is

at this point in the game, your account has to be exceptional to bring in any appreciable amount

i think the buying/selling process is also a bit less secure than it used to be

If it were me, I'd give away all my gil/items to the people who helped me along the way and cancel my content ID.

I quit for 6 months 2 years back. If I had stayed off of the game much longer, I don't think I would have had the desire to come back. My guess is, in 2 years, most of your friends will have moved on as well. I don't see what the draw would be to come back after being out of the loop for that long.

Leave it in limbo. You never know, 2 years is a long time, things might change.

Hell I'd take the account if you don't sell it.

Liquidate all of your AHable gear, and if you have a decent amount of gil, sell it.

If you have any good friends in the game that you have contact with outside of the game, ie RL, facebook, skype, msn, etc. Offer your stripped account to them for use as a dual box PL etc.

If you're giving away your account to a friend, I HIGHLY suggest you don't leave gil or items on it.

Seen waaaaaay too many posts on here with the situation that someone loaned/gave away an account, and changed their mind & came back to the game after an extended absence, and their account was stripped. It's unfair to you because you earned that, and it's unfair to whoever you loaned it to, as they're paying the monthly charges, and weren't expecting you to come back.

This.
Unless you got a really good account, it wont get you much.
I'd just keep it and wait if I were you

If you have no plans for the account though, seriously send me a PM. I'll move it back to Asura.

However, you should strip it first of anything of worth for your friends.

I've been thinking about this too lately..

I don't think i'd sell my acct..I would strip it and give away my gear/gill to friends in game.

Then offer my acct to someone to use.

An old linkshell leader of mine on Siren with 6 relics sold his account for 4,000 dollars.

As for me, I had a character with 15 75s back on Siren, and never sold it. Didn't even strip all the gear/gil. I just quit.

You should just give it to me and let me play on it until you get back. I need another WHM healbot anyway, and yours is 86. I'd also assume you have atmas/abyssites/stones for abyssea.

Willing to pay for it of course.
