The problem with them is that the backgrounds outside battles are pre-rendered and are low resolution, so while the characters etc. look better on the high resolutions, the backgrounds look worse and worse the higher you go. That put me off it because even now I think the background renders look nice on their native resolution.
As for the upgrade in the music, I actually prefer some of the original music in the games to the better higher quality real music that has been done. It's still a great idea though.
If someone could redo all of the pre-rendered backgrounds... well that would be a dream come true. Otherwise I'll stick to playing these on my PSP. Great post though Sagi!

Considering I have pirated this game for many FFXI players to continue playing and thus paying SE since they lost their disks/can not play on PS2/xbox or something anymore and are not going to waste time and money buying them I would saying pirating FFXI is a great thing for SE.
Well for something that has a monthly fee, sure. They're still getting money off of it. FF7~8 and any other game that isn't online is a one-time pay only - the hard copy. If everyone has access to it for free, they can't profit at all D:

Is FFVII any different on the PC content-wise? When I feel like playing I just load up my ISO (so I don't scratch my CDs) and play on ePSXe.
Nah Sewer Tsunami always healed him, it's kinda harsh in low level challenge play throughs.

But it's moddable and has been made that much more bearable, just watch that video.

The graphical quality is SLIGHTLY higher, but all the music files are midi on the unmodded version of VII on the PC.
But then it's far superior than the PS version if you use the patch.

This was my experience playing three or four different Playstation copies. Walkthroughs even say he hurts himself with Sewer Tsunami, which leads me to believe the PC patch changes it.

Huh weird, he heals himself on the Pal version.
Maybe they felt the US version needed to be easier. :P
Aps always healed himself with Sewer Tsunami, hence why he used it so much.
Tons of walk-throughs say otherwise. :P

Oh, well I might be mistaken, I honestly can't remember. Chances are you are correct, as there is an optional 'hardcore mode' included with the remixer patch, which obviously makes the game much more challenging, so it is likely that the video clip is taken from a game on hardcore mode.

I agree with Flion, the game must've been dumbed down for release in the US. Lawl.

If I recall, weren't the weapons .. PAL only? I recall speaking to an American friend who had never heard of Ruby weapon.

Also.. The sewer thing.. The tidal wave moved both ways, if it went over him first.. It healed him IIRC, if it went over you first, it damaged him.
