Dark Tower Series is always good <_>

I second this suggestion. I just bought the revised editions. This series is excellent.

Definately the best book series I've ever read. Thats not what you usually would expect from stephen king - its pure awesomeness, I couldnt stop reading all 7 books until I finished em (read at school, work, lunch break, trem... like everywhere <.<).

Might not be a trilogy but a book i thoroughly enjoyed reading was The painted man (The warded man US version) by Peter V Brett, he's currently writing the next book which i cant wait to read.
Another good read is "The black magicians trilogy" series by Trudi Canavan.
My gf is currently reading another series, i'll find out the name but she's really drawn into it atm..i think she reads like 400 pages an hour or something crazy lol and reads alot of books i'll get her in here with a list of recommendations for you lol.

3rd, amazing series.

The "Eragon" series is also a very good read, but be aware the final book is in progress, leaving me grinding my teeth.

Slightly off topic but I've heard 'The Master and the Margarita' was a good book, I've been meaning to pick it up for a while now but haven't got around to it. Has anyone read it?

And any suggestions along the lines of Brave New World, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, etc would be good too, thanks!

Hi2u Dragonlance?

I don't *** know! My reading usually consists of short stories or poems D:
Only scrolled through enough of the thread to find this post.

Dragonlance has been my favorite book series for a long, long time now (7-9 years?).

I don't know if you're still checking this thread (or if this was already suggested) but I recommend the Codex Alera series also written by Jim Butcher. Haven't read it myself, but my roommates and friends are addicted to it. I hope that helps. ^^

As for books that aren't in series, some ones that creeped me out but other people really seem to enjoy are:

The Turn of The Screw-- this one is kinda older, and it was made into a movie called The Innocents. Very creepy.

Oryx and Crake-- an end-of-the-world book, very disturbing but can get you thinking.

Don't read either of them before you go to sleep, you'll have nightmares about human pigs and ghosts. {Fact}

This was going to be my suggestion. Awesome series.

Same, a must read if you haven't.
tis was my favorite and most loved series. especially how it ties into so many other books my SK. its like.. comming back to a old friend. sword of truth must have been my second favorite and tho i know its not well liked i loved twilight aswell. Id suggest the Forever odd series by dean koontz. that was a good one but only 3 books long.

I quite like diana gabaldon, but her main series is a love story. but its great for anyone into getting sucked into the past during a war and struggling back in time. it was a very interesting series but bored me towards the end when it focused books on the lord john series

Read most of the books you guys already suggested and felt somewhat directed.

Probably you'd like Elizabeth Haydon's Rhapsody Saga which is a series of 6 books though it's completed with book 3 and starts a new storyline from 4 to 6 though these three aren't as awesome as 1 to 3 but definitely worth reading!!!

Also very very good books (series of 2) are Markus Heitz's Ritus and Sanctum. He's a german author so I'm sorry if the title's of these are different in America or somewhere else :( ! Anyways if you don't mind that it's based on the legend of the beast of Gévaudan (werewolf legend) then these are the ones to go! I've never been so much into that werewolf thing but these are fascinating!

I also support the Timothy Zahn Starwars comment earlier (sorry I forgot who mentioned it but you are very right!)

And last but not least my all time favorite I have to mention. It's Carlos Ruiz Zafon's "La sombra del viento" (I'd translate this as shadow of the wind or something like this, again I read it in german so I only know the original spanish title or the german one I'm sorry) A MUST HAVE book. Not so much fantasy and definitely not scifi but awesome to read. I almost ate the book haha it's really really worth the time!

His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
This trilogy is a massive fantasy epic, bu it also manages to bring some hot topics to the forefront of the readers mind.
They tried to make a movie of the first book, The Golden Compass, but it was not as good as the book, and it stopped a good 2 hours before the seat clenching cliffhanger that the book ends with.

I think I would have liked it more if I hadn't been so disturbed over Oryx's past. That poor girl, she needed help. Jimmy/Snowman was definitely my favorite character. I had to read this book for literature class and do a project on it, so I took 3 wineglasses and decorated the outsides to be who the 3 characters wanted people to think they were, then decorated the insides to show who they really were. So Jimmy's glass was dressed in a normal suit on the outside, but had broken glass and shredded paper inside. I painted Oryx's glass purple with flowers and the pink ribbon from her hair tied around it on the outside, but left the inside blank because she never thought for herself, only did what others told her to do. Crake's glass was dressed in a nice suit on the outside and painted black on the inside. That was one of the funner projects I've done, much more interesting than writing papers and reports. <3 The book really did creep me out though. Crazy creepy!

tl;dr

but if its been posted i'm sorry

Anne rice Vampire chronicles

Thats real vampire novels right there. No gay twilight tweendom there.

Well there is some slight gaydom in like 1 or 2 of the novels out of the entire series but if a vampire walks in the daylight in these books, they don't sparkle, they burn :)
