We went straight to 130 Is it just exemplar I wish I saw how much I got from the chest to contribute to this conversation but I was in a hurry to go to bed. Asura.Saevel said: » Asura.Sechs said: » Asura.Saevel said: » The -50% DT is fine with me But here we have "dynamic" scaling from 119 to 130. I'm totally fine with DT-50% for 130 mobs. Not so much for the 119 ones. The DT should've been one of the scaling stats of those 119-130 mobs, imho. Considering they already have to kill a plethora more mobs at 119 and that it's clearly focused at returning/beginner players, the 50% DT seems a bit too much for those. Jm2c of course. So this is part of the illusion of power and progression. Because your numbers are bigger you think you are "better", but realistically you have barely moved from the starting line. Example is if you hit for 10 damage and the monster has 100 HP, it takes you 10 hits to kill. Now you've gotten upgrades and levels and hit for 100 damage, 1000% more damage, YAY MOAR POWAW. Except the monster now has 1000 HP and it takes you 10 hits to kill it. Congrats you have gained exactly zero power, no progression, that entire level up / gear up was merely an illusion. In our specific situation, a monster has 200,000 HP at -50% DT vs a monster at 400,000 HP at 0% DT are mathematically identical. But because FFXI has a hard damage cap of 99,999, the first scenario is preferred because the monster could be killed in two hits while the second scenario has a minimum kill time of four hits. The monsters having 50% DT but less HP means the effective damage ceiling is higher, and it's obviously this is what SE was thinking when they implemented it. Instead did this instead of raising the damage ceiling beyond 99K. Being solo and not having a party just means both scenarios are functionally the same for you. You aren't penalized for it, you just likely won't be able to take advantage of having an effective 200K damage cap. Well not without lowering the monsters level, a single player with level 119~121 monsters should still be able to hit 99K's SC with multistep. FFXIV does this exceptionally well, no matter how much item level you gain you're never actually any stronger on current content. Just did Apollyon NW.
BLU/DRG with Sylvie, Joachim and Monberaux. Should swap Joachim for something else I guess, but I digress. Took me ~38 mins, at 119. Clearly I'm being too slow so I'm doing something wrong, right? Edit: Also, do Apollyon Units disappear? I did Apo SE (130) and Apo SW (119) yesterday and I swear I remember I had a little bit more than 3k units. Now the counter says I have 2k. Wut? More info on KI's did northern temenos for 2nd chest, the one that gave the grace ki, it gave us +6 acc. Just did eastern tower(3/5 chest) check with pokeball. The boost is now +8 acc. So each chest does in fact boost the atma thingy
I tried a bunch of different weapon combinations on dnc solo and ended up sticking with aeneas + tp offhand. With the -50% dt the mobs have I found it better to link a bunch of skillchains together to amp up the skillchain damage bonus rather than focus on a 2 or 3 step skillchain.
I started with 4 step umbra and ended up changing it to 5 step to boost the umbra finisher more. At lv.130 this 5 step was deleting everything in about 45 seconds solo. 4 step was plenty with Climactic Flourish finisher, but that's not always available. Trust were King of Hearts for Haste II and Dia, Ark EV, and Joachim. Apururu is my unity, but I may consider grabbing Sylvie to replace either Joachim or Ark EV. Having a tank trust just allows me to be lazy lol. They are not very threating at lv.130 though, so it's probably worth the swap. I assume you weren't using either Saber or Fan dance to Waltz yourself up when needed? Since I don't see a healer in your setup.
Saber Dance fulltime. EV heals herself and KoH can also heal.

You get more points per bar fill. The bar takes longer to fill and the mobs are harder. There is a 5 chest limit per week so the best ilvl seems to depend on how much you grind. My current thought is focus on chest first then focus on the mob grind. If you find yourself capping chest easily its time to ramp it up. Chest are worth 3000 or 5000 so its huge gain to chase them. I dont think the bar takes longer to fill. Im pretty sure it was 7 kills in teme NEW at 125 and 130. I would have to double check my logs.

That seems backwards
Why would the bar fill faster at lower level lol “Your targets are easier so they die faster, we will also let your progress bar take less kills to fill too” You sure this is accurate, because im sure you can agree it makes no sense whatsoever. Perhaps your split alliance was out of range on some kills so they didnt get credit? So I can confirm 130 alliance 18 vs 130 6 man
The 6 man is way faster, you get more bar points and more exemplar lol ~180 vs 18 30kills vs 7-8 kills a floor at about the same kill speed. But what I do not see a solid understanding on. Points per kill with respect to item level. In addition to this, does this have an impact on the reward when you open the chest at the end. It says right in the notes btw The first person to touch the NPC sets the level Changing the lvl resets the bar Thanks, I already knew changing the level at the npc resets the bar, I said this earlier myself.
Taint didnt say his groups bars were being reset. He had a mixed group and the 130s just filled slower. Didn't think of the lower level effecting the i130 group. That makes more sense.
The bar resets if you change your ilvl at the NPC, not during combat. From the notes:
Quote: Note: When playing in a party, the level for everyone will also be that which the first player detected by a monster chose at the entrance. Additionally, all participating party members must select a level. Note: All of the monsters' HP and stats will be restored at the start of the battle. Note: The monster level will not change until the battle with the monsters is over. If a monster is engaged in combat, the monster level will not change even if it targets a different player. The monster respawn time is one minute. Note: When fighting a monster of a lower level than the one selected at the entrance, the amount of acquirable data will be reduced based on the level difference between you. Might be worth checking if a 119 can get extra credit for fighting 130 mobs, i doubt it though. Would also be useless tbh. From what we have gathered when you have 119 and 130 in party:
When the 130 pulls i.e. the mob is 130 everyone gets credit When the 119 pulls the mob only gets credited to those who are 119. So whoever has lower or equal lvl than the mob gets credit. which make sense to avoid powerleveling your 130 chest. It's the highest available difficulty setting and the max Units/floor reward; Not unexpected for it to have enhanced/additional objectives as well as tougher monsters. About the monsters
The monster level will be the level that the first player detected by a monster chose at the entrance. So if someone aggros a monster not in your party and their level differs from yours higher or lower and you pick it up. you get a target intended for them. Acquiring the data This is a gameplay system unique to Limbus that allows you to acquire data after defeating monsters. The amount of data obtained changes depending on factors such as the difference in level between you and the monsters as well as the number of members in your party. The amount of acquirable data differs between each floor in Temenos and Apollyon, and both your selected level and the data accumulated so far will be displayed for your current floor. When fighting a monster of a lower level than the one selected at the entrance, the amount of acquirable data will be reduced based on the level difference between you. The data acquired from each floor will be reset once you leave Temenos or Apollyon. Also, your accumulated data will be reset if you select a level higher than your currently selected level. Also, from the second chest onward, you may also receive special support effects that can boost your stats across all of Limbus's areas. I originally misquoted some stuff so here some copypasta Don't know what impacts the bonus on the chest I would assume ilvl choices For those of you doing mixed level groups, how does pulling higher/lower affect the floor reward?
F/E one person picks 121, everyone else picks 130, everything pulled and killed at 130. I suspect the person who picked 121 just finishes their bar first and gets 80 units vs. the 170 everyone else receives a few mobs later. Meeble said: » It's the highest available difficulty setting and the max Units/floor reward; Not unexpected for it to have enhanced/additional objectives as well as tougher monsters. Except it doesnt and we already solved that the 130s were getting lower credit to their bar because the 125s were aggroing targets and setting the mob level accordingly. Solution: dont do mixed levels Two simple questions:
The key item that you get when you open the chest, can you store more than one at the same time? If not, what happens when you open a chest with a KI already in your possession? Two: what happens if Pt member 1 has all the KIs and opens the chest, and PT member 2 only has a few KIs? Does he get the 3k points as well or not? Nukes are doing good damage and the automaton is good for supertanking.
Broke 50k on a nuke multiple times. ![]() ![]() ![]() Haven’t enter the zone yet, doesn’t look like my group will swap from sortie to that anytime soon (kind of agree with that tbh), as well, it isn’t ground breaking so far.
So my questions is, if you only have about 20-30min max time, how would you tackle limbus? So much for "so many people are playing FFXI right now!!" ***used to go up as placeholder pages back in the day and be full of info by now |
