Man the retail guys sure are buttblasted about Horizon. Is it because Horizon has spurred more discussion on this forum in the past month than retail has in the past year?
kuroki said: » because any meaningful discussion is muted by troll poster Meaningful discussion? Did you miss the two active topics on this subforum being a shitpost about Horizon being free and a topic literally calling Horizon ***? What meaningful discussion are you referring to exactly? kuroki said: » where are the posts about horizon by horizon players discussing anything at all? 99% of Horizon players wouldn't come here. There's no reason to talk here when Horizon players have the Horizon discord, their LS discords, and their LS chat to talk to, not to mention the fact that every topic on here gets flooded by kvetching retail players. kuroki said: » so it isn't the retail players that are "buttblasted" The topics on here filled with kvetching retail players, made by kvetching retail players, sure seem to say otherwise. The buttblasted retail folks got to nearly 100 posts in here before I made my first post. They need no assistance in getting their feathers ruffled. Waiting for daily cooldowns gives people a lot of time to seethe. I haven't played retail for two years, so I might have forgotten a lot. I completed every expansion storyline. When I tried to come back and play, I thought obeying the rules/ToS was nearly impossible because of how many players were botting there. Screw that REMA and prime weapons. I have to get ready to focus on XIV more before 7.0 comes out.
Keep taking that blue pill, ignore all the evidence. You are in the perfect utopia, even tho you still posting here, go back to the dunes and enjoy

Not trying to convince you or anything, obviously that's a lost cause, just using this as a point of conversation. I think this line of thinking is ENTIRELY too common and quite frankly a cultural problem within the community. All too often when a new player comes along the first thing everyone says to them is "here, download these 25 addons and plugins, here's a bot, here's how you install tako, the game is basically unplayable unless you add all this stuff". This is patently false and you don't need any of that ***to play the game. The fact that this stuff is so widely accepted and frankly encouraged by the community is pathetic to me. You do not need to modify this game in a single way to play, enjoy, and complete it. Don't get me wrong it's grindy as hell, but that's the game. Horizon is not the best place it could be to play FFXI era, it has some good decisions but others that are too bad (like change Ninja, nerf RDM, overpowered BST and pet jobs...).
But it is the only place where you can play era 75 FFXI where there is enough population, without double counting and that is stable. The problem with Eden server is that you can have a double account and it stops at Aht Urgan expansion, Nasomi is too personalized also like Horizon and there are other servers that are not good enough either. Although a retail game must be recognized that it has serious problems such as there is no control over the bots and shouts of bot sellers and it feels like a garbage dump, also right now it is in an era where the final content of the game is reduced to two real options (odyssey and Sortie). FFXI retail is a very different experience from the usual FFXI, there have been many eras, I experienced very good things about Abyssea and there was more variety, also the Adoulin era and many other eras, but the current one has good things (a lot of equipment and variety of builds) but in general it is the worst time in the history of FFXI in my opinion. So Horizon is not the best server because they don't know how to balance the classes and they have perverted too many jobs, but the fact that it is not only in Aht Urgan and that it is not a double account is a good decision. For me, the ideal would be Eden without a double account and for it to continue beyond Aht Urgan, even adapting future content from 99 to era 75, but unfortunately I see that that is too much to ask for. kinkanat said: » without double counting well, about that... kinkanat said: » and it stops at Aht Urgan expansion In a few days they will start adding Aht Urgan and then continue with subsequent expansions even from era 99 adapted to era 75, I think it is an excellent idea, the problem is that they have not known how to adapt basic FFXI with the jobs so I am afraid of how they will adapt the future content....
You mean they have no *** clue how to do literally anything anything beyond stealing the works of others and making minor changes??
Every server claims "aht urghan coming soon" but none of them ever do it. The game up until au was already done and all they do is copy paste already completed work. None of them are capable of doing it.
The idea of bastardizing content from 99+ to 75 is just dumb.
Can anyone imagine trying to do Tojil without capped recast for stun? or neutering it to the point that it is not necessary? Not to mention doing all of that "adapting" and having no idea what it was supposed to play like because you have been lost in 2005. I really loved the full alliance delve era, those were lots of fun. working as a pair of stunners on Tojil, staying in sync to know when the other was out of strats so you need to start going, that was good stuff. I would be disappointed to see it brought down to the level of 75 cap :/ I can't believe people didn't discover Stun rotations prior to Delve. How did people not think of it before then?
