No joke, most pvp in MMORPGs ends up being like this.

I'd rather get a bunch of random friends together for a friendly event with no rules or pressure, than indulge in what is obviously an ego stroke for a bunch of players who do nothing but play with themselves all day and want to show off their massive epeens in this content.

The only way they can find any interest is to pay for it, and even then, nobody is interested because people aren't dumb. They are getting wrecked every single time. It would be like walking up to Fafnir as a level 1 WAR with the "hope" of beating it. Please.

I miss all the events you all used to host. Been a few years since I’ve played but one day I’ll be back. Always had people for Ballista and other fun competitive events.

And I miss you being the only serious melee RDM I've ever seen. I've known many RDMs, but none were as dedicated as you at covering all bases long before Savage Blade spam became a thing.

Agree with most of this stuff, I figured coming off like an *** on this site might motivate some people to try it, but meh, if nobody wants to that's all good.

The person you mention in the first paragraph was a cancer on the already small community and I've rooted him out. You'll notice no more dumbass shouts about ballista on asura anymore.

I appreciate you answering some of the questions in this thread, I don't spend a lot of time on this site. You were actually one of the people I thought might try - Goltana, right?

Some windower hacks/cheats whatever you want to call it are pretty subtle and I'd hope people would just be honorable about it and not use them. The really nasty stuff like Ja0wait, gearswap (ws out of combat), etc are obvious and we'd just stop playing and have that player turn it off. We've played long enough to know what's possible.

As for if you can trust me giving out the money.. well, I don't know how to solve that. But it costs you nothing to try and.. it's pretty fun once you get going.

I had a friend that lived for balista, it's all he did in the game and he dragged the rest of us into it when he could. It's actually kind of fun when you get into it, the problem is it's at set times and stuff so you can't just do it when you want from a queue.

The "serious" games happen in diorama-abjwhatever that you can book for any time/rules that suit you. The set times you remember are for official matches on a repeating schedule

Someone else asked about guides/info, my pretty crude blog has a lot of good info for a learning player, but not much for a completely new one. I'll look into getting that put together

My old character on Cerberus was Goltana, it’s the Galka now though. I probably wouldn’t have much interest in ballista anyways; i used to be a huge fan of it back in the day, but the game evolved far past ballista and it never was updated. After my first break almost a decade ago, I returned excited to play, only to find everyone exploiting “hyper”, which I felt was super lame. It just never was the same.

a long time ago I strongly felt the same way, that discovery threw the then much larger community into chaos. it took time but it's vastly superior from a strategy standpoint, hyper creates a whole extra dimension of gameplay. I 100% feel where you're coming from though
