Sortie is straight *** trash and is a *** joke...

Oddy is *** balls awful outside of the NMs and those are *** rehashed - Bumba is STUPID AS *** gotta pray it doesn't do a stupid 1hr and if it does pray you get fetters you can proc or it's over, GG, Gitgud, You *** suck...

The worst of it all is I am too *** addicted to stop, 5 ML40s, 9 Sapphires and cleared all bosses/nms, r25 everything... Kill me...

Now the queues are sorted Sortie is tolerable, the only purely crap part is the earring system. Perhaps they will address it but for now its a grind that is bearable while we get +2 gear, but after that I am not sure I or many will be still doing it for the complete randomness.

I LOVE Sortie so much ; ; It's an hour that actually doesnt feel like 875675675844464 years like Dyna-D or Odyssey!

I actually enjoy Sortie. It’s not as annoying as Odyssey, ever since Odyssey came out I disliked it and have not changed my mind about it.

After the multiple year wait for the "big surprise" on the 20th anniversary letting me down, I gave up. All we got was a special website, some livestreams in Japanese, a white chocobo, the ark angel elvaan shield, and a new title screen theme.

I'll log in during free to play, and it MIGHT get a month sub out of me, but bleh on the game once you've done all the missions and done most of the quests in the game. It's just going to be hitting the feeder bar for the pellet. The same feeder bar. Over and over and over.

BUT WAIT! There's more. Hype for +3 versions, am I right guys?

Oh, and the end of TVR with reskinned relics which will probably require something stupid like beating SUPER DUPER SUPREME ULTIMATE DYNAMIS LORD X.

I can spend a few years away from FFXI and come back when the "coming soon" things finally got here.

I will still come to this site and post though because why not?

I like Odyssey. V20 fun. Challenging. Feel good when beat.

I can understand where you're coming from, but I think you need to acknowledge the difficulties the devs have, as they are basically modding a PS2 game ported to PC 20 years ago. The original team is gone so you've got a handful of dedicated programmers, probably fans, losing their mind trying to unravel legacy spaghetti code. Given those challenges, I'm grateful FFXI is still alive and kicking and getting any new content at all.

I like what they are adding.

Then random stuff run aroundploza 2.0.
I guess its the lack of difficulty, KI system, blah blah

Also, I have a lot of friends that I have to alienate because I already have a set group.

It could be worse I guess... I am still doing Sortie because I wanna be the very best that no one ever was. To Gear up all my jobs is my real test. To never play them is my cause. ( CUZ IM *** STUCK ON COR BECAUSE GOD FORBID SOMEONE IN MY GROUP *** GETs 3 ROSTAMS AND ALL R-EMA GUNS AND IF IM NOT COR IM BRD AND *** *** *** *** )

I like Odyssey a lot. The segment grind kinda stinks but the random nature of the floors and short duration of the runs keeps it tolerable, I really like the NM fights though and I think they give a great sense of accomplishment especially at v20. I like that it's also sorta pushed me to try new jobs I otherwise wouldn't have. I think they could make it more accessible to new players and encourage new strats by making the gaol fights less punishing to lose.

Sortie is another story. I find it kindof dull and repetitive, the earring system is somewhat infuriating as well. IMO they should make it so you can trade the useless earrings you get in for points or trade 3 to pick 1 sort of thing. I get they had to give something that makes players want to return once their empy gear is maxed out, but it's too random.

I also really wish it was alliance content, I find it a bit annoying SE's big take away from Odyssey is that people want 6 man content, which inevitably leads to people being left out. It is nice it's a bit lower pressure to be maxed out on everything when compared to Odyssey, though.

Odyssey was fun in a way where the groups I ran with made it fun, having a static group makes a big difference on the experience you'll get farming C and doing V20 NMs. The rewards were nice and when maxed out made most of the older content a lot more manageable, but hardcore groups had no issues with that, so it would have been cool if there additional adversary outside Goal to tackle, perhaps. I ran with EU/local group up to V15, then joined some friend on the JP side till V20. A sense of accomplishment was reaching a point of achieving 14k+ points with 4~5 minutes remaining in C farm, for me. Also wiping over 20 times on some of the hard V20s, can't really remember which ones, was interesting in the sense of content progress, again for me. I really miss the people I played with, there were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful journey.

Can't really say much about Sortie since I've quit since March, but I'd say give it more time before you judge it this early, on the long run it'll all be clear if the overall player base enjoyed it or not.

I agree with Jyubeii, don't pressure yourself, move on if you have to...

So @Original poster, if you're gonna write something constructive at Sortie, do it at least with some effort instead of the vomit that came out of your mouth.

Not sure if ranting about the content when all we have of it so far is the +2 step. If we judged Omen by only card farming, it would be horrific, but for quite a while after release the content was still good because the real content was in the acquisition of the +3 and all that came with it.

I do think the earring aspect either better improve greatly as Sortie is expanded, but outside of that I'm fine with where Sortie is currently. It should be relatively easy to acquire the +2 versions of JSE gear, almost in an egalitarian sense. So I'm behind a "wait and see" attitude, and make the progress that's currently available in the meantime.

Didnt omen come packed with the whole deal bar Ou on release and the major hurdle was difficulty of it + 6 man limit?

Dont like Sortie at all, very lazy content and its quite obvious they weren't working on it for "years" like they claimed. Super super boring, long winding passageways and in the end you are just aoeing and killing some lame bosses that we've fought a billion times before. Lazy has just been their mantra for the past few years. Shinryu was a lazy boss, hes even easier than the original was. I blame XIV, I hate them too. But I guess we are suppose to eat the ***and be grateful we are getting some scraps as most pay over 40+ bucks a month for the game.

The main problem is SE isn't creating new assets in ffxi (mobs, spells, areas etc), and juggling the old assets for so long is showing fatigue. Sure a person who quit years ago has a plethora of content and challenges to sink their teeth into but people who have been in this for the long haul, especially the go hards (Im hard typing this giggity) would feel kinda bummed out when they released more catch up content instead of true endgame.

Let's wait and see how this turns out.

I'm fine with Sortie so far. I've been able to solo the A boss with my dated Samurai, granted I am 1/3 against him, and that one kill involved a lot of luck, but once I get back into the swing of things I'm sure I will be able to bring down the B boss as well. Waiting on one lazy minion to come back to Shiva tomorrow, and the others have dropped off the map (Looking at you Mosin and Nikolce).

I would have rather seen them take us back into Abyssea, personally. You got nine empty zones, 119 them and spread us out with flexible objectives. But whatever. At least they didn't make us finish TVR.
