What do you want to see in FFXI?
By Mattelot 2021-12-28 14:51:02
site needs a dislike or a downvote button
No. As a moderator for one of the biggest subreddits, downvote/dislikes are one of the worst things any forum can have. They're designed for "does not contribute" but today are used as "I personally do not like you" "You proved me wrong but I'm gonna get you back!" "You took attention away from me" or "You said something against my friend".
It's bad enough that we have people like Unidan (we have a bit of this here) or Discord cliques conspiring to mass downvote anyone who did the aforementioned or mass upvote each other's comments, no matter how idiotic they are. All that does is project the wrong illusion that correct/useful comment Y was bad because Joeblow and his clique mass downvoted it and Joeblow's idiotic comment about being at work and bored or at home and drunk are valuable because his Discord buddies upvoted it. This is the reason why Allakhazam was such an utter failure.

I'm with Mattelot on this one. The [+] shows support for a post without having to waste an entire post to write "I agree". But if someone disagrees with a post, they should be encouraged to post why they disagree.

No one cares why or if you disagree (or if you agree either, tbh)
Pointless things. Say what you want to say and stop worrying about internet strangers.

No one cares why or if you disagree (or if you agree either, tbh) It's not very constructive if you don't have a proper discussion. What's the point of the forums if not to have a, y'know, forum. As the social creatures we are, we tend to gravitate towards things that are popular, and that's one of the ways social media has destroyed the integrity of information.
But now I'm just dragging this thread off-topic.

FF14 summoner used to be a joke, with those baby egis and dot spell based gameplay but now that FF14 finally got the "real" summoner fantasy with full sized avatars doing big numbers.
Now FFXI is the one with the joke sumnoner summoning avatars just to buff and using conduit just to ward due to the way over zealous bp nerf.
FFXI used to be a unique mmorpg in having pet based gameplay as a viable alternative to beat "endgame" but thats not the case anymore in the newer content odyssey due to balance changes and equipment power creep.

I know the thread is for FF11, but i'd love to see them make summons swappable. shiva/leviathan/titan/ifrit/ramuh/garuda since element has no impact within the game it'd be nice to have that. The update to SMN in 14 is glorious.

Now FFXI is the one with the joke sumnoner summoning avatars just to buff and using conduit just to ward due to the way over zealous bp nerf. Summoner's always been in a weird place in XI. Astral Flow in particular makes the job really difficult to balance, and they've never really gotten it totally right.
I remember the FFXIclopedia forums were rife with ideas to fix that job.

I get what she's saying and you're both right.
On her side: Forums are for having discussions. If you just go around voting everything, it begins to diminish the place's usefulness.
On your side: Stop needing social validation... in the sense of "So-so agreed with me!"

One day soon, we will like and dislike irl with buttons stuck into peoples foreheads.
I'm half joking, I can see it coming.

I thought there was an Orville episode about that too. Were depending on your likes/dislikes, it was like your credit score, and if you had too low of a score, you could't do some stuff

It's a relatively common thing considering it's already happening. Social credit scores.

Yeah, the Orville did have an episode about that. They called it "an Absolute Democracy" and showed some of the issues and trials that came with it.
If you got enough dislikes, they would eventually scramble your brain. lol

Delivery Specialist NPCs offering the full Delivery Box menu, allowing you to receive gil/items as well as send them. There's really no point in them not doing both as is.

I wish they would just get rid of the damn delivery box all together. Just put the gil straight into the repository and skip the annoyance. Bonus, it stops laundering and trying to hold more than 2 bil.
It would be great to stop muling ***too but I understand hoarders gonna hoard. Never know when you'll need that level 60 gear for that bc you swear you'll do never.

Geo Trust that does the spells I tell them to use rather than based upon my own Main Job selection.
SAM Rolls would be nice too tbh….

Even if you can’t select what spells, more diversity on Geo trusts. And I’m not talking about the ones that just follow and do nothing but give an aura. It would be nice not to have the only real Geo trust linked to a unity.

SAM Rolls would be nice too tbh…. Would be pretty cool if Qultada would use rolls based on the party. Like, Chaos Roll is nice, but what if there isn't a Dark Knight in the party but there is a Warrior or Samurai or something present?
By Nariont 2022-01-03 11:23:21
Chaos is generally going to be the best bang for your buck if you're using trusts, would sooner get rid of the hunter's roll/indi-precision checks, as well as whatever determines ballad/evoker's

I'd like to see more Trusts in general. They don't even have to be super balanced, I just kinda like the collection aspect and the variety.
And you can tune them with different practical behaviour as well. So if you wanted to add, say, Ikhi Askamot as an alternative to Sylvie as Geomancer, they could each have different AI for the spells they cast to allow us to tailor our choices.

As the title states. Let’s no get crazy but what are some realistic things you want in FFXI?
