Hello All!

I ran the FFXI benchmark on two very different machines and got two very different scores. I was hoping somebody could explain why these machines got the scores that the did. I tested both machines on high resolution.

Machine 1
Dell Precision T1650
Intel Xeon E3-1225 v2 @ 3.20GHz - Ivy Bridge 22nm
Windows 7 Professional
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002-1BD142, 500Gb SATA, 7200RPM, 16Mb Cache
8.00Gb DDR3 RAM @ 1,600MHz (11-11-11-28)
NVIDIA Quadro 600 - 1024Mb VRAM
Final Score: 13,450

Machine 2
Toshiba Satellite A665-S5170
First generation Intel Core i3 380M @2.53GHz – Arrandale 32nm
Windows 10 Professional
Inland Professional 240Gb 3D TLC NAND SATA III SSD
4.00Gb DDR3 RAM @ 1,066MHz (7-7-7-20)
Intel HD Graphics, Revision 2
Final Score: 2,627

Thank you so much for your help.

Machine 2 is a laptop with 1/2 as much ram, an older slower cpu which probably got heat stressed, and no graphics card.

The video card. It's almost 60%-70% of the gaming power.

Also i3 380m is old and has like 2 pathetic cores. The E3 Xeon has 4 powerful one.

lao, depending 9n the OS 4gb isn't enough to run anything worth talking about. Windows alone probably hog over half that.

I wonder what the parameters are for the benchmark. Does it benchmark at default resolution or max resolution?

The system requirements for this game are 32MB of video memory. Even the recommended system requirements are at the top end, GeForce 6, which the highest one of those had 256MB of RAM.

IIRC, low resolution in Vana'diel Bench 3 is 640x480 and high is 1024x768.
