How do I properly buff against Paralyze?
Paralyze is Ice based, so do I cast Barblizzara and Barparalyzra? or do I Barthundra and Barparalyzra? I am currently confused by this. If someone could explain it, I would appreciate it.

The former. Barblizzara and barpara.
Could you share what your thoughts were that thunder resistance means you resist ice magic more? I'm very interested in what you were thinking.

I think thunder is strong vs ice in the elemental wheel?
Kinda like the rune fencer runes, i think? There was some speculation and evidence to suggest that Stun was a type of Petrification warranting the use of Bar-Petra in Stun resist scenarios and some speculate that Terror itself is Earth and not Thunder based. But that was the only case I knew of where things could get weird.
Afaik, the only counter to Ice-Effects is Fire. So Bar-Fire all the way? Siren.Kyte

So Bar-Fire all the way? nearly everything you just said is wrong My reason for questioning Barblizzara at all, was because I watched a twitch stream of a more experienced WHM (I wont say who, thats not important) in Reisenjima. They were using Barthundara and Barparalyzra together. I found this odd, I am sure they had a reason.
So for the record these are best used together? Barblizzara (Fire) and Barparalyzra (Fire) Barfira (Water) and Baramnesra (Water) Barwatera (Thunder) and Barpoisonra (Thunder) Barstonra (Wind) and Barpetra (Wind) Barfira (Water) and Barvira (Water) I mean some enemies use abilities that have multiple elements attached to them like ecliptic meteor is darkness and inflicts various ***including paralyze. I’m unaware of a thunder ability that does the same though. Khimaira? Idk.

So uh... which is correct? Or are the Caedarva Mire and Nyzul Isle Investigation Floor 100 ones that do thunder dmg? Actually Kyte you yourself were a part of that discussion if I recall along with Martel. I’ll try to dig up the page where it was discussed. All that was talked about was that Stun resistance seemed to respond positively to “Resist Petrify spells, traits and gear(?)” Seeing as how a Bar-Stun spell doesn’t exist anyway, what’s the harm in throwing Bar Petra in there when the biggest concern of whatever fight is Stun? Make sure your body matches what your eyes can do.

I remember this being asked during one of the Rune Fencer AF quests:
https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com/wiki/Legacies_Lost_and_Found So if Ignis increases resistance against Ice and deals fire damage, so I think the answer to your question is "Barblizzara" and "Barparalyzra" (and of course, Ignis, and froms songs, you can cast Ice Carol 1 which takes priority over Ice Carol II, if you can't cast both songs). (It is worth to note, I don't think anyone can accurately test the potency of the bar-status effect spells, like Barparalyze, but I try to be optimistic and assume that it's not terrible). As a result, when a fight has a specific status effect that I wan't to avoid, I use the above rational. |
