Lateral Slash's defense down is at least -65% defense down (probably -75% or -100%), as it plus Last Resort brought my defense down to 1.

Something that should help with tonberry hate: /help
"Call for Help" works on mobs inside Ambuscade > CFH tonberries do not give you hate.
Haven't tested if you still win if you CFH on the main boss, but it's safe to CFH on all adds.

Yes calling for help on the mobs was the best tip ever. Was able to do 6 runs so far without grudge hurting to much.

2ch saying that if you look at the shadow it'll negate the 3rd attack

Can you CfH on the tonberries you need to kill to get KI? Or does that force you to increase your tonberry hate by at least 3 kills per round?

Furthermore, lateral slash should be absorbed by shadows no? Did any Run try /Nin on this?

CFH won't get you credit towards the objective

Am going to experiment with DRG tonight and see if the Monarch can be Stun-locked. I am also going to experiment with Gelus (Ice) runes and Pflug to see if that blocks Lateral Slash's effect outright.

Few things I thought of today.

1 - If you don't want to pay 100k for a Gold Beastcoin, the steal rate on Tonberry Slasher's at I-9 of Den of Rancor is very high. I went 2/3.

2 - Has anyone considered using Uggalepih Necklace for this fight? It's not ideal to sit at 3k TP to void Everyone's Wrath, but it's an idea. It wouldn't be fun to farm, but it is a 100% drop. I got one just now to play with.

3 - If you want a hate free way for a free KI, the Cryptoberries at Entrance 2 to Pso'Xja work for the daily and are supposed to not affect hate.

MACC Geared drgs are all the rage nowadays.

I tried to stun lock it on normal seems like it was good @ first then it eventually would only last 2-3 seconds

Light of Penance spam steals all of your TP.

Leg Sweep's first stun lasted a whopping 20 seconds but the following uses lasted between 7 and 10 seconds, leading me to suspect it builds resistance.

This was on VD.

MB does not resist Dark Magic so a DRK can cap HP off a Darkness SC and Drain III burst.

Just gonna go ahead and say that it does reduce the damage on the shadow significantly (on the tank anyways). Erased def down asap, and only took 200 darkness in hybrid gear on run. Just requires attentiveness on the tanks part and the fight is pretty standard fare.

is it possible to gravity zerg this like the month where it was the toad that would AOE kill everyone

What would happen if the pld or run tanked monarch with back to wall. Would this force the shade to never get the sneakattack off? Just thought of this.

i straight tanked the MB on pld with the defense down and its only dropped me down into the yellow before,Never had any issues with it coming even remotely close to killing me,Will confirm that facing the show reduces damage,But i never bother with it honestly,

Facing the shadow with defense down,Our whm was trying to erase the defense down on me

Random note:

Lower geared shout people have actually gone to spamming Very Easy #1 this month for 200 points each instead of putting up with the bulls*it #2 throws at you.

I tanked it last night tired as hell but never went below like 1400hp. I used gelus runes and tried looking at the shadow when I could but know I didn't always manage it. Not sure if I got really lucky or the gelus runes let me resist the defense down effect. Most times WS/SC was doing 0 damage entirely.

The source of the random evasion spikes is the Sigh TP move; it gives +400 evasion (on VD, at least), but only lasts 10-20 seconds.

It can also be dispelled from the spell reliably. The bard I run with said finale very rarely lands (geared well).

My GEO had no problems landing dispel on Sigh. Max BRD I ran with couldn't land it too well though.

I didn't know Vol 2 was bad went with a sch, blm, geo and run was doing capped damage.

Not sure if it's been posted, but across a few runs tonight I was able to nerf their tag-team skillchain by turning to face the Shade. Just fight unlocked and turn to face it. No more spamming Panacea for no reason.
