SE Making A Tell Filter

We have confirmed that RMT and suspicious site advertisements are being sent in large quantities as tells in game.

Regarding these issues, we ask that when you place a GM call to report them, that you please include the name of the character that sent you the tell in the call summary. Additionally, while we are investigating all calls that come in, we estimate that the number of calls will continue to increase by a considerable amount, so we ask for your understanding if a GM is unable to personally respond to these issues specifically.

To counter the increase of these issues, we are planning to introduce a filter to block suspicious tells along with the next version update. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Oh boy...

So everytime my friend says "Okay, sending the gil I owe ya now." I won't get the tell. Because of the word Gil. And SE will spend the next four months working on taking that word out, defeating the purpose. Go SE!

Will prolly have conditions like :

If main_job = lv1
If account = <1month
If no subjob
If mission rank = 1

All these parameters + some keywords = enough to block most of RMT tells.

(also epic combo Antipika=>Pikachu).

inb4 a shitty filter that blocks half the RMT tells for a month and 10% of the legit tells forever.

The person who send you /tell and don't make it should receive a red message telling them that the /tell didn't reach the target, so they'll find out what they wrote wrong to correct it to send it to you again. So i don't know what your point is in complaining about this.

Have you ever seen the original "word filter" they had? Most people turn it off as soon as you get on, cause its pretty ghey lol... but, when you said any 'curse' word it would auto filter, it would just do the ???'s and stuff... well it worked with words that had spaces and stuff between em. And i highly doubt they would misspell their own website, just for people to go, because then they wouldn't be typing in the correct web link x:.

An example of what i was talking about would be like "***" would get turned into "????" and if you typed something like "hey James hit the switch" it would be "hey Jame? ??? the switch".

Hopefully they can do this right :|...

Oh, I hate that filter. I remember guy in my party was all "In Jungle" and I get "?? ???gle" and I'm like "wtf did you say?"

Expect the worst, hope for the best. If they get it right and the filters work well without filtering player chat I'll be plenty happy, until then I'm just going off of SE's history.

Fun fact. Spanish curses were NOT filtered by the SE language filter. However, the word "gringo" was. We had a field day when I figured that out. xD

Yes it does. I've been told you can make it filter whatever the *** you want so you can actually do it smartly. Also maybe make it filter out clear non names like Ramjzjaa

eh... this wouldn't work. some of the names people pick are pretty out there.

like a few examples: Nomadikhan, Onimenokyo, Wwcc, Topinzaghi. sorry if i insult anyone. just using some names you don't see every day. and yes i searched some of the random names i saw on this site lol

the normal names i see for these dumb /tells usually have Laksh(something) in them. i guess bc its part of our server name.

what SE needs to do is disable sending tells on trial accounts. you can reply to tells so that normal players don't get screwed but you can't send them to initiate the conversation.

They can just buy up a domain so if it's entered in the url it'll redirect you to the main site

Oh snap, that would explain why 5 out of 6 RMT /tells I get are from Ser<key-mashing>. I always thought the Ser was supposed to stand for Square Enix R-something as if we were supposed to believe it.

and i really didn't mean to insult anyone with my examples. i just took 4 ppl's names that weren't words or something, from different servers.

Have anyone noticed that rmt have weird *** names like "fglkvgjskgklflllsnkd" so its harder for you to tell GM the name lol

It's probably more because it's easier to type adrfjhsrtgh than to actually come up with a legitimate name.
