We need more wild speculation and hearsay. Rumor has it there will be two new races introduced. Mithra light and Mithra Genuine Draft !

Bonus points if they show SE employees smashing the server equipment, dismantling the hardware and hauling them out to dumpsters while fitting FFXI music plays in the background.

Bonus points if they place ffxi on "emergency maintenence" ~1hr before the stream.

its funny and sad to read all that drama here. FFXI wont end, FFXI wont take break and come out as "realm reborn" version and FFXI wont be F2P. Stop this crap. its a yearly roadmap, maybe announce server merge and new expansion, but FFXI will be FFXI, it was 13 years and will be for another 2-3 years?

Facts:

1.) Press conference were before and they did not close the game or took it down to make a new version at that time.

2.) No Company would plan stuff for next few months and then tell people that game will close or get down for few months! (Why implent empy reforge NOW when they plan to make a new version of ffxi?????)

3.) F2P is for Games when they can live with incoming money from shop; Shop in ffxi would do what? buy a relic? buy end game content gear? its not hard to get both. And if you fail,I am sure you find way to "buy" it right now anyway.

4.) Server merge is 99% possible! Lower server cost, more people to do stuff with

5.)They wont split Server to region, cause it would take a lot to do it and also why do it after 13 years? People cried about "JP only" back in 2005 and do it today. And not everyone plays at his country prime Time. Also, what does it matter if you have japanese on your server who dont take you to VW or Delve or you have nobody at that time only who do stuff? (you noticed now that it makes really no sense to splitt ppl just because of JP only)

Until tomorrow we should not come with stuff out of blue just because we like and make others believe that ***. I bet some people already rage cause they beleive most stuff you wrote here guys. Also i am sure SE got angry mails by people even they never announced anything yet which connects to press conference

No company would plan stuff and shut it down in a few months clearly you don't know SE like you think you do !

If you're believing what people are putting here or anywhere on the Internet without proof from a credible source, there's far more wrong than people speculating about stuff.

One of the reasons people jumped a bit is because roadmaps used to be a big vanafest thing, though many forget that those were pretty well discontinued, that said the absence of such an event to coincide with a roadmap for the coming year is obviously going to spook people who grew used to that format.

Either way, most of this thread has been nothing but speculation, and there's nothing wrong with that. Anyone who gets angry over it or jumps to conclusions without fact checking has only themselves to blame really.

I wouldn't say there is drama in here, it's more discussion over what it may or may not be with a few jokes thrown in, it's a conversation. Everything you say won't happen is not out of the realm of possibility, it's just unlikely. Personally, I don't believe FFXI will ever be F2P but I could be wrong. F2P could attract more new players but in doing so could also poison the community.....ok, worse than it already is. I'm not looking forward to that but what the hell, bring it on.

Lastly, it doesn't matter what is planned or how long it was planned, or how much money these plans may or may not make, Matsui is a director but even a director is a pawn to someone, if the order is given to shut it down, it will be shut down regardless of logic or how much money it makes.

Apparently, Japan got Seekers on PS2, literally days before Sony completely discontinued all service and support with the system.

EDIT: Also, dropping PS2 wouldn't be that big of a deal, My PS2 started going out so I couldn't play on PS2 anymore, I didn't just quit, I bought a laptop. Anyone who really loves playing the game will still play regardless, just like everyone who moved to PC in NA and EU.

I honestly don't know how people can play on PS2. You can't see 5 feet in front of you even with the best possible connection (which is component video I assume). But at the same time, I understand that it's the only way some players can enjoy the game.

How can people play on PS2 you'd have to go to Japan and ask them !

They must cling to the PS2 like it is giving them life.
