Odin.Zicdeh said: » Yeah, I'm really bored with the whole Climate Change debate. Everyone with a brain knows it's happening and is impacted in a not-insignificant way by human activity. And everyone with a financial stake in it not being true funnels money and propaganda to the opposition. This pattern has happened in every environmental issue for the last 100 years. Atomic Testing and the Lead Industry being the most prominent examples. At this point the only thing I can say to Altimaomega, conservative sheep that he is, always mewling the shepherd's [FoxNews] talking points is that the Shepherd does not protect his flock because he cares for them; he protects his flock because he intends to harvest the wool and meat. You think on that. (Monumental task thinking will be) Your right everyone with a brain does know whats going to happen prices are gonna continue to go up for power, food, and water. all because sheep like you will blindly follow science and you'll pay the price in the end. Currently I'm in the process of installing a 3.5Kw solar and wind grid-tie and battery bank. I'm doing this not because of global warming but because in 2-3 years it should pay for itself since my electric bill is INSANE and only getting worse. Very few people can actually afford to do this since the initial cost is still quite high and it still won't cover your whole electric bill. However, when the shepherd starts butchering his herd I'll still have my power, food, and water. Will you? conservatives: prepping for doomsday since 1955!
Science is teh dumbs guys that's why I'm installing all this neat-o technology that is totally not the result of any scientific endeavor.

When you treat science as infallible faith it is. Seems science is only infallible when you don't agree with the results, or, in your case, when you're wholly incapable of actually understanding the results.

In some cases (like mine, but only because I have enough property to do it) we sell the energy back to the company/county. My investment will be paid off next year. Has nothing to do with the perceived science of global warming or climate science that this technology is in connection with. Pure expense reduction and/or additional income. Technically, all of it, because not only did we loan the money to ourselves, we elected the idiots who wasted the money in the first place. Fiscal Responsibility is a dirty word to those in power in Washington D.C. now. and it's a myth by those who preach it, as they have no actual intention of implementing it, just political prancing in order to cut welfare programs, and deregulate big business, because that works out sooooo well. (to be fair though, both sides are guilty of deregulation). You act like solar energy is a conservative ideal lol... It's not. It's also dependent on where you live, how much land you have and if you have the capital to make the initial investment. Some people are blocked by simple HOA by-laws. Oh well sorry you can't install those in the front of your home... Oh you can't get enough light on the back? Too bad!

For California though, there's several places in the North part of the state that now have no running water because of the drought. If you think that's typical okay. California is always in a "drought" and they have no policies in regards to water conservation? Heck, all of the wildfires there should be basis enough for water conservation. What sort of political idiots run the place there? They've always been good at hiring actors as politicians instead of people with any solid, good plans... Solar energy in its current form has trade offs. They aren't environment friendly to make, and they don't have a very long lifespan before needing replacement.

That means that for every $1 they receive, 93 cents is automatically taken as part of their expenses. Not exactly "reaping profits" or have a "ridiculously high bottom line." Most companies can't grow on only a 7% profit. Exxon Mobil can because of the amount of business they do, but it is still a smaller percentage than the average business does. But let me ask you this, since you consider businesses to be bad and evil: What makes them evil, and how do you quantify it? Remember that your answer cannot include any human factors in it, as it has been stated many times that corporations and companies are not human. You have to quantify evil by removing the humans out of it. I'd say polluting the world, and avoiding taxes that are levied against you for that pollution is a pretty good indicator of not being "good" but we're getting into some fuzzy ***here. Yet it's getting better all the time, like the research Solyndra did, makes them use a fraction of the silicon in the process, unfortunately prices for that dropped right when they finished, and they couldn't compete anymore, so they went under. But you know "conspiracy" etc. Extra nicotine in my cigarettes please !

Conservatives are more practical and do this to conserve costs and energy consumption, sometimes even providing energy to the community.
