tl;dr:
100 Alchemy (Expert), almost done cleaning out guild.
I wanna go 110 Fishing (Expert) + guild-buy all the things.
If join Fishing Guild, do I keep 100 Alchemy??
Can all crafts safely change into fishing guild and lose nothing?

I keep reading about people claiming their main craft dropped to 70, but how does this work with Fishing?

I know it's possible to level fishing to 110 without affecting the other crafts.

I want to jump aboard the fishing guild once I'm done buying out the Alchemy Guild (I'm just a couple Key Items from owning everything they have to offer).

Can I...
[] be in cahoots with the fishing guild in order build points to buy some of the Key Items/Gear/Furniture and still maintain my 100 in Alchemy?
[] continue to level the 100 Alchemy to 110 while being in cahoots with fishing?

I want to believe I can keep it all since Fishing is out of the 70 + 40 equation with crafting, but I'm paranoid about the guild-points thing. None of the guides mention anything about being part of a guild for points only, so I can assume that as long as your sub-craft doesn't violate the 70+40 rule, you can safely be in that guild to buy stuff and be silly.
Has anyone done this before?

You will keep your 100 Alchemy, but you will lose all unused guild points. You won't be able to get anymore guild points with Alchemy unless you switch back. I would think you should be able to level it to 110 while signed with the fishing guild though. I switched to fishing after hitting 100 cloth but I haven't received any skillups with it since. Haven't really been trying though, only did a few 105ish synths since switching guilds.

Edit: Make sure you turn in your 98-100 guild test item and you should be able to level to 110. I don't see why your guild association should cause any conflicts.

you also can earn skillups while under other guilds, hence being able to get a gold skill on a smith craft that requires gold sub

After checking it looks like I did keep my guild points at the cloth guild, I just can't spend them unless I switch back. I seem to remember the in game text stating that they would all be lost but maybe I imagined it. :)

SE changed the guild point system about a year ago where GP wouldn't be lost switching from one guild to another. When you achieve guild points for a guild, you sign a contract with that guild. You can only make transactions with that guild. If you break the contract and make another contract, you cannot turn items for guild points for that earth day; however, you can spend GP to get an item (Before you couldn't because your GP was wiped to 0). You must wait until next JP midnight to turn in items for GP.

Skill-ups are independent from guild contacts. You can gain skill-ups from any synthesis or catch within the appropriate craft level. If you wanted to, you can have a lvl 100 craft and a lvl 80 sub-craft. If you want to get to 110, you would need to pass the rank test and further skill ups will be taken out of the 80 subcraft automatically. I believe someone tested a high lvl craft and saw that the skill point was taken out of the next highest craft.

Fishing is independent from all the other crafts. It also does not require any subcrafts since there is no synthesis but only catches. Therefore you can have 2 lvl 110 crafts and gain skill-ups for either one. I have cooking and fishing at 110. I hope this answers your questions.

Fishing DOES NOT affect your other synthesis crafts.
You CAN have 110 in one craft, 110 in Fishing, AND 80 Synergy.
At that point you CAN also have all your sub-crafts at the current maximum level of 70.

Regarding Guild Points and switching crafts: You CAN switch guilds as many times as you want, you WILL keep all your guild points, but you will be INELIGIBLE to collect guild points for that earth day. The following day you WILL be able to turn in guild points as usual and at any point and time, you will be able to switch guilds, as always following the above said rules.

I think I said that right.. I know it's been covered elsewhere on the forums but it doesn't hurt to give a refresher! ;)
