Republican makes a REALLY stupid comment.
And it WASN'T about abortion!
And for those who haven't figured it out, The Huffington Post is a liberal source. TBH this could have gone in the Random P&R thread, but since it didn't....That is pretty stupid. 12 dead, over 70 wounded. Over. 70. Pretty sure a 8 round clip can't accomplish that.
It really doesn't take that long to change a magazine, I understand the commenter's point, I wouldn't call it stupid, but it's nothing more than an observation made into a comment, and the term you're looking for there Vic is magazine, not clip.
maybe somebody should have just thrown popcorn at him. The most common sense response to this kind of thinking has been small clips have to be reloaded making it a lot easier to get to the person.
Heimdel said: » The most common sense response to this kind of thinking has been small clips have to be reloaded making it a lot easier to get to the person. I would say emotional response, not really found to be based on facts. He shouldn't have bought the cheap magazine. In a very narrow minded way of thinking it makes sense. A jammed gun is useless. And if he was trained, yes, several 8 round magazines could have accomplished this.
Shiva.Viciousss said: » Pretty sure a 8 round magazine can't accomplish that. FTFY Clip is acceptable. I believe the shooter actually used a drum. And as Heimdal pointed out, the act of reloading gives a person the chance to be a hero. That and I don't think Assault Rifles have 15 round magazines, maybe a carbine does, I don't know what kind of AR the shooter actually used.
all-in-all, it's really just a stupid quip for media sound bites. It's not all that offensive to anyone who wasn't involved. It was, however, incredibly stupid, these politicians need to stop opening their mouths everytime there's a microphone nearby.
It is getting to where I can't tell the difference between idiots whose opinions I should ignore but aren't in politics (e.g., Kanye West, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson) and idiots whose opinions I should ignore but are in politics.
I never imagined cognitive dissonance could go so far as to try to defend assault weapons by pointing to tragic mass deaths. Until Sandy Hook and the fallout from that. I've become considerably more jaded to the knee-jerk NRA supporters since then. thread title should be, "flame baiting poster creates ANOTHER thread to start the same arguement again"
and it's not about abortion! He used a Smith & Wesson M&P15 semi-automatic rifle. A weapon that does not take "clips". So it is very much, not acceptable.

However a malfunction after 45 rounds does. he had a Smith and Wesson M&P15, and a 100 round drum magazine (clip is not acceptable). He also had a shotgun, and a Glock 22 40cal handgun. He apparently also rigged his apartment with explosives, that fortunately got disarmed. Obviously this guy had the intent that he was going to kill people, and could have easily used explosives in the theater, what laws would you pass to prevent that? I would argue the stupidity as there is some truth to the statement, however anybody who doesn't know firearms at all would be ignorant and go on to cry foul. I find myself no longer caring about this topic, I never said I endorsed any laws being passed, only the idea of having more bullets in a gun is a blessing for the victims is idiotic.
Relying on a defect of large magazines to protect the public is the definition of *** HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE.
Smaller magazines mean a slower rate of fire and longer, more numerous openings. If the shooter had been limited to smaller magazines arguably not as many would have been wounded/killed. Changing magazines quickly is simple enough at a shooting range with a little practice, but it's a whole different event when you have to change four or more times in such a hectic situation. Surely, a politician should know better than to make those kinds of comments in public. oh and something to be added about the incident:
Injured (non-fatal) 70 (58 from gunfire, 4 from tear gas, 8 from fleeing accidents) I can't find how large the capacity of the handgun magazines were, but 3 were spent (found on the floor), and I can't find any information based on the deaths/injuries caused by which weapon. I imagine the shotgun injured a good many people, as you know it's several people in a small space. Honestly: I doubt it really affects him much at all, his supporters will love him, his enemies will revile him, life will continue for all. Down with the She would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling Conservatives!

Glocks are available with 9 shot single row magazines or staggered row 15 - 18 shots IIRC. this discussion should focus on mental health awareness & treatment.

You should know that the only reason why you get away with it is because of friendly (to you) moderators. I don't see anything wrong with her topics. they are usually worded as to offend the grand old party though, I'll give you that KN. but wtf, what else are we going to do all day?
