In my text book, it's talking about mourning and grieving. Grieving is the emotional response to losing someone that you love, while mourning is the actions in which you express you grief. I never really looked at grieving and mourning as two separate things, but more as the same thing, just with two different names...

Well the whole book goes through life from conception to death. It's actually really interesting, especially when you get into the information about adults and different stages of life. The chapters are about physical and cognitive development, as well as psychosocial development at the the different stages of life.
I wanna explore this grieving/mourning thing more.

Mourning is the actions and manner of expressing grief that reflect social and cultural prescriptions. It varies by culture. In the book, it says there are some things that can't be done while mourning and then there are things that must be done while mourning, although these things vary from one culture to the next. I would say that the sadness you feel is grief and moping and day dreaming would be a kind of mourning.
