So having never finished FF13 and not playing FF13-2 can I just say Snow looks bad *** without that stupid hat!
I wish I could finish 13-2... I was so lost after a while as far as the story went that I just sorta stopped playing it... now if I try to play it I'm even more lost than I was before... -.-
So just another cameo. Big deal. I know this is a final fantasy site, but I hope people use their brains when this game comes out, I got the 2nd one 3 months after it came out for 20 bucks, and it played like...a 20 dollar game.
I wish they would let this spin-off nonsense die already. The follow up games are generally complete crap too.
Save money by using the same models/world/story for 3 games... FF games started going downhill after 10 IMO. Game companies do their best work when they are struggling. The more money they make, the less they want to spend on creating a good product. Blizzard went the same way.

I loved both games. I never cared much for Snow, so I was really excited when the last storyline was going to follow Lightning. I guess we'll see how this one adds up though.
FF13 was not fun to play but I liked the main story so it kept me going till the end, but I don't get the hate toward 13-2 it was really an amazing game for me.
They try to make games that will make them the largest amount of cash... so go change the opinions of the masses that keep buying the games and then maybe you got a shot... until then keep on bitchin! ^^
The problem isn't with the games.
People are just too hard to impress these days. :) Some titles they've released deserve the criticism, but I don't think the 13 series is one of them.

13-2 story was horrible, like 13, 12, 10-2, but it at least had interesting characters (the POV focus was stronger, which I personally enjoy), and I absolutely loved the battle system with the monster thing. I think caius was a little too melodramatic, but still a better villain than anyone in 13. I just wish the story flowed more smoothly, or flowed at all really. I'm not sure why they thought time travel was a good idea for this game. It felt like it divorced itself from 13 completely.

12 had a good story. The damn thing just ended too abruptly.
12's story was so interesing, I forgot it halfway through the game >.>
I always never understood the hate for 12. It was a new idea from the general turn based combat from its predecessors, had a decent story and tons of side quests. Though, some of the characters were lackluster. (I'm looking at you Penelo)
As for 13, I cannot defend that game at all. I bought it 'cause I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy, but that game did NOT live up to its expectations. 13-2 was alright, I was glad it wasn't linear like 13 was. Overall, I'm just hoping Final Fantasy Versus will save the future of Final Fantasy.

XIII/XIII-2 is just one of those games where you either love them or hate them.
I loved them, personally. Beat the ***out of both within a month, platinum trophies and everything. Well worth the money I spent, and I got the collector's edition of both!

12 was a solid game, the story wasn't up to par though.
13-2 wasn't a bad game imo, though it was definitely 10x better in terms of comparison to the original 13. so maybe 13-3 will be 10x better than 13-2 and we'll have a decent game in our hands finally. it just took them 3 tries to get it to where it should have been. at least that's my view on this whole spinoff thing. Battle System is one of the most important factors to me in gaming and IMO 13 had the best of the series. i 1st play the game and after playing it a bit i decide if i like it or not. so far i have enjoyed there works mostly so will def grab this when its out

If that's true, XIII-2 was probably leftovers from XIII's development, which makes plenty of sense considering how the game was structured. I guess Lightning Returns is just sort of an obligatory "every franchise has trilogies nowadays" sort of thing? 13.2 story was so bs, I expect no less from the third <_< some games should just stop at the first.

wow that looks pretty awesome... but I just noticed is that the same battle system as versus 13? That looked like hack and slashing to me
It also looks like the person is jumping, like at one point he jumped over a railing onto stairs. @1min in. It's still sort of the same as the other games with paradigms and such, although I would assume they've been a bit more creative with the battle system since it's one person only, as far as we've seen. Guess my eyes could be fooling me since there isnt any kind of HUD but like when Lightning cuts of that mobs tail, that looks like hack and slash to me. Edit: lol well... every time I re-watch it I start to doubt what im saying more and more haha |
