Chipotle strategy guide
I am punishing it as we talk!
It was hilarious when I ordered. She was like "Did you say a lot of rice?" "Actually I said 4 scoops. Same for Black beans, please." The look on her face was priceless! lol
That's awesome. Keep fightin' the good fight brah
I've always said for a good number of years now that most people would want a Starbucks in their basement upon hitting the lottery. I would have to go with a Chipotle, quickly followed by filling out my will and leaving the estate to my wife before I eat myself to death and die in bliss....
I think I could cross a good number of things off my bucket list before finally dying of an artery failure. Yes... yes this dream will do. ![]() Chipotle is really delicious, but if you get a chance to try Moe's Southwest Grill, they have this unlimited salsa bar that has some incredibly delicious salsas. You can go in and order a container of "extra" salsa for the price they generally charge if they are catering something for you. $5.00 gets you ~3/4 of a gallon of the most delicious salsa you'll ever have. They'll give you a ton of chips as well if you ask for them, but that obviously doesn't fit too well into the healthy-eating category. The salsa alone though is tasty on eggs and bread or a tortilla in the morning, or anything that isn't sweet for that matter.
I stoped eatting chipotle for a couple years, had a buddy who interned at a radio station and they had a couple stacks of free burrito coupons. Man was I burned out on chicken burritos. But I will gladly pass this on to my friend who is a chipotle fiend, he thought he had the pennultimate grande burrito figured out.
Having worked @ a Chipotle for a while, I always loved the look on people's faces when they filled up a burrito and couldn't understand why the f'ing thing would rip... I mean a tortilla should be able to handle 5 scoops of rice 3 scoops of meat, drowned in sour cream and packed enough cheese to choke a cow...right? Then when said person is told they'll have to pay extra if it couldn't fit inside 2 tortilla's you get yelled at.
In any case, still like chipotle food but seeing what some ppl expect out of a $6~7 item is mind blowing. 5 scoops of rice, 5 scoops of beans, 2-3 of meat, etc. and I have no problem keeping mine from ripping.
That guy just sucks. Lol most of the people we had rolling burritos were girls, and they all had issues with rolling them. Always fun to watch until I was asked to help them out...
Oh, that's why you follow my strat guide. You get the bowl w/ the tortilla in it.
Just a burrito is a plain waste of money because you won't get nearly as much food. I just eat away at the bowl until it's small enough to roll into a burrito. Then proceed to eat the burrito Our store had such an issue with ppl that would try to load up on as much as they could. The GM decided that after a certain amount of food, he told me to charge em for 2 items. The nasty looks I got, but not too many people would screw with the tall *** cashier unless they took down a few Corona's before hand.
If that happened to me, I'd simply walk out of the store. Do w/e you like w/ the burrito, because I'm not paying extra for it.
Do Chipotles have like guide lines on the menu to how much you can add before getting charged, or is it simply just based on how nice the servers are?

Honestly as long as there wasn't any extra meat or guac, shouldn't be charged extra according to corporate. But the GM at the time took a stand and did what I said, really depends on location to location, area supervisors got on the managers *** when we "over portioned" and then when we weren't giving customers what they wanted...no win situations, gotta love em. They're in the business of making customers happy. So it should be expected that a by-product of making customers happy including giving generous portions to those that have particular requests. At the rate of what they charge for what they give by standards, I would imagine the satisfaction of (returning) customers would far outweigh any supplemental additions of food. Yes, but they are also in the business of making money, and the cost of the food is much higher than that of your normal fast food chain due to Chipotle's emphasis on quality meats and ingredients without growth hormones, organically grown, etc. While wanting content and happy customers is always good, over portioning kills returns especially when your product costs more. Honestly in general I don't think they know what they wanted to do themselves. Like I said, on the one hand you have supervisors wanting the customers to get what they want, but when you do give it to them you get the shaft for going against procedures. Love Chipotle's food and food practices, but they need to go back to Business 101 to know how to implement ***. Considering Chipotle is a chain owned by McDonalds, I had difficulty imagining there being any emphasis on quality in regards to their food.
That stigma aside, I think part of their problem in regards to keeping customers happy, as well as informed on what is and is not acceptable in regards of portions and subsequent additional costs, is there is no real "line" set as to what can and cannot be done between the consumer's request and the ability for an employee to carry it out based on policy. Well I pay extra for the double meat, so that part is out.
I'll be damned if even with how huge I fill my burrito they come even close to not making profit on me over a couple of scoops of beans and rice. (especially rice lol) Sylph.Tigerwoods said: » Well I pay extra for the double meat, so that part is out. (especially rice lol) Avocados (guac) and meat I can understand having additional charges for, but for things like beans, rice and lettuce, or even cheese seems a bit stingy to warrant any repercussions. Considering it is the general "medium" that takes up most of your burrito or what have you. Chipotle was never owned by McDonald's, lot of ppl are confused by that. McDonald's initially started them up after the first store opened, after things got going they did want to own majority of stock in company but the founder didn't want that and declined. ![]() I went to Chipotle today and thought of this (as I do every time I go there now) and thought this deserved a bump for anyone who may not have had the privilege of learning this technique.
I've yet to try this... somebody bump this monday around lunch time!
I wish this were never bumped so I never had the displeasure of reading Kimble's terrible nutritional advice.
