Devs announced they toying with idea 1H level correction today
OMG THEY DO LISTEN and its not even my birthday scratch 1 off the list Prioritize your gear and leave the whm evasion sets for 5 different situations at home >.>. I mean bring the most important peices, make decisions, drop stuff you rarely use. Everytime they have increase the gobbiebag, everybody gets happy for two weeks then complains they need more. It's annoying seeing the same "suggestion" everytime a topic such as this pops up. -.-

It's annoying seeing the same "suggestion" everytime a topic such as this pops up. -.- It keeps popping up because they keep adding gear that encourages us to mix-max single abilities and spells. Just look at the items they added this last patch. A huge chunk of them are sidegrades to builds under specific buff, subs, etc. I think they added like, 3 pieces of gear just for cursna since the level cap raise. My PLD wants to ask you why it doesnt need more gear spaces :|
You can merit more than three now lol and they'll still suck after this adjustment

You can merit more than 3 weaponskills now?
They planing on changing it so that level 1 WSs will have 65% mod (alpha adjusted) with the level 5s keeping their 85% (so +5% each level).
So basically, a level 1 WS will be roughly the strength of a current level 4 WS after the patch. I think this is the best of both worlds, really, people with multiple jobs can have a weapon skill that doesn't suck, but others can still have the whole "specialized" job thing they are so insistent on being present. If they are adjusting them, why not just be smart and just raise the cap on the merit category? wtf is that. That idea sucks :( Odin.Eikechi said: » If they are adjusting them, why not just be smart and just raise the cap on the merit category? wtf is that. That idea sucks :( They could always just not adjust it at all since they have no obligation to. The WSs are already pretty good at level 4 (some are even good at level 3) so at least it's not like you're being forced to max them out or get bent like the system is right now. What WS is good at level 3? Max em out or gtfo, typically. I've tried some WS at 3-4 and they were just not that great, but got amazing at stage 5 (like shoha).
Edit: I kind of see what you're saying now. You're talking about post adjustment since level 1 = level 4? I kinda get it, but it's still kind of lame, because if you don't max them, they typically aren't worth it. Make gear above level 75 augment'able thru FoV or GoV?
Add/adjust/change upgrade possibilities, etc. Ragnarok.Ninurta said: » Make gear above level 75 augment'able thru FoV or GoV? You're talking about post adjustment since level 1 = level 4? I kinda get it, but it's still kind of lame, because if you don't max them, they typically aren't worth it. Basically, currently around level 3 is where some of them start being competitive with the non-REM WSs (Which was the original point in part, a good WS for jobs you dont have a REM for). Take Requiescat for example: Level 3 means 6.0 combined fTP (Gorget+belt), 60% MND, attack penalty. Compare that to the best non-REM WS for sword, which is probably Vorpal Blade: 4.0 combined fTP, 40% STR, chance of critical. While Vorpal will probably outdo Req in a lot of situations I was more saying that around level 3 is where they stop being totally freaking useless (level 1 and 2 is just lol). You might use Req against enemies that have physical resistance (one of its primary draws). At level 4 they start being pretty strong. Exenterator, for example, would be a 80% AGI 4.0 fTP WS VS Dancing edge, 5.1875 fTP with 30%DEX/40%CHR. There's a few that are cap or bust (like Shoha especially since Gekko is already really good), but this change certainly makes it so that at least you can have multiple level 1 WSs that are already pretty good, which was one of the primary complaints from people that play lots of jobs. While capping them all would be nice, it WAS pretty dumb that the level 1~3 WS were almost all completely worthless. Why even have multiple levels if you need to max them out for them to be useful? You say level 4 is 80%? and that's when it gets good ya? That would be level 4 after adjustment... so why not just max them at lvl5? I'm not seeing your argument at all here unless you're mixing your numbers. You get 15 slots, that's 3 at level 4 and 1 at level 3... so you're still only getting 3 potent, so why not just max 3, at 15 and just raise the cap? Ragnarok.Ninurta said: » Well by in large, pyrosouls are best in slot (or other soul rings for other stat mods, like Aqua for requie). Same with the vulcan pearl if your WS doesn't benefit enough from TP bonus/brutal. So if it's already the best in slot, why the need to augment it even further? I think that's what I'm really asking. That would make those earrings even more over the top. Quote: You say level 4 is 80%? and that's when it gets good ya? That would be level 4 after adjustment... No no, sorry, I probably should stop using the mods indiscriminately. I'll use the alpha adjusted numbers now. Before the change (right now), level 4 WSs are 68% (17% x 4). After this adjustment, level 1 WSs will be 65%, with 5% increase each extra level, so level 5s will still be equal (85%). So basically, after the change, you can have a level 2 WS and it'll be stronger than a current level 4 WS, but weaker than a level 5 WS. This means right now I could have 3 5/5 WS or 3 4/5 WS with 1 3/5 WS and have them be decent. After the patch, I can have 7 2/5 WS or even 15 1/5 WSs and almost all of them will be useful. The system will become far more flexible. I think this is a good balance between what they wanted and what the players wanted. Basically one of the ideas they cited was that they wanted the merit WSs to make you "specialize" in a job or something. While I'm sure a lot of people dislike the idea, I think this strikes a good compromise between that idea and still letting us be versatile. A level 1 WS is no longer completely useless. I can get WSs for basically all my jobs now without a single one being totally unusable. If they simply upped the cap without changing the value of each level, knowing how they've done it in the past there would still be a problem with how many jobs I'm able to have a WS on. That would make those earrings even more over the top. Apply your statement to gear at level 75; Flame Rings with +2DEX, Triumph Earrings with +5 R. Atk, Dusk Gloves +1 with +2DEX, Warwolf Belts w/Haste, etc; none were game-breaking. Maybe because their isn't as much serviceable non-Rare gear now, it would seem over-powered or excessive; but if it were done right, I don't think it would be. But that's just it. At the 75 cap there were things that were better than those items. Flame rings got usurped by Strigoi. Triumph by the ear pendant in some cases. They were best in slot, but not when FoV GoV augments came out. They pretty much all got bested. WW belt with +haste basically did nothing because there were many other haste belt options that were better. I'm sorry I'm not seeing the "75 cap argument" when you also initially said post 75 anyways. You're not even giving me best in slot situations anyways.

It could be just me but i dont bother with getting sidegrade gear and when new gear comes out, I dont need to obtain it unless it is clearly better (or I just like it). Just because new gear comes out doesnt mean you need to hoard all the items. :/ But do as you guys like, five peices of gear for each spell,JA,combination of buffs, monsters fighting, atmas etc etc.... yea you will need more spaces but hey maybe you need 3 extra pieces of gear just for cursna... idk. That's true, I always equated Strigoi and such with 80 cap. I see your point now, well said. Asura.Masekase said: » Thiefs knife (lvl 99 version please) , cop rings, zilart earrings. |
