Let's say for the sake of argument, that the game's engine for PC/Xbox 360 version can be revised in a way that you can now use higher resolution textures, 60 frames, soft shadowing, tessellation, more storage space, Like say revise the game to support DX9-DX11 API functions etc, bla bla.

From Square Enix's point of view, what would be the point anyway? You have to pay programmers to re-code an engine for a game that's 11 years old.

Let's say that would be a penny in a bucket for Square Enix to arrange. They go through with it and now PS2 only gamers can't play the game any more. Congratulations, you just alienated a good portion of Japan's player base, most of which is Square Enix's more dedicated customers.

So now the PS2 players are either going to bother with getting the game on a new platform (PC only in Japan's case as rotted vegetables sell better than the Xbox 360 there) or they will just not bother playing the game anymore and in fact, take insult to the move and maybe even not choose to buy any other Square Enix merchandise. Not worth the risk.

So TLDR: Why even argue about whether or not the game can be "updated" if would never ever happen in the first place?

this would indeed be a dream come true.

if they would do to XI what there doing to XIV. completely overhaul. same game for say but new engine textures etc. id go for that in a heartbeat. even if it replaces the current xi. id be one happy galka. and continue tossing money at SE for many more years to come.

Honestly, why not keep the PS2 portion of FFXI on PS2 and just make a higher end graphic and whutnot portion for individual ports....like say have DX9-11 for PC, and then do the highest end for PS2/XBOX. Is that possible or am i like waiting for the next Steve Jobs to have this idea? Cause it doesnt make sense at all really to chain together systems as if they were the same platform.

I'd be happy with a 9.0c update, xinput support out of the box.

I'm still waiting to see what all they do with the new UI, it's hard to tell what they've been up to.

I probably won't use it though, if they do indeed kill controller support.

but as to "is it possible" I'm fairly certain it is, but is it worth it or easy I highly doubt it.

The game is very reliant on directx, very.

An item swap system that auto sorts gear, you previously set, into your main inventory according to the job you are currently on.
Gear Collector

Is there one that does not require using spellcast?

It's not Item related, but I'd really like to be able to access other WS's from other weapons. Example; Ability to access Archery WS as Samurai without the use of subbing Ranger. Or Red Mage having access to Paladin's WS, Vorpal Blade etc.

Won't happen, but one can Dream.

All for Mission Item Upgrades though~!

Having access to a decent ranged WS could be useful, I still can't see subbing anything but war other than for laughs.

RDM gets access to requiescat and CDC, 2 of the best and most useful sword WS available.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the subject of crystal petrifacts on this thread yet. I can't be the only one who gets frustrated finding a petrifact in the rare slot from the treasure chest at the end of a run.

How about making them drop less frequently or not at all from the rare/top slot out of the chest. I'd also love to be able to have more than one use for these, how about allowing us to trade these for some voidwatch armor? For example, I don't know maybe 500 petrifacts in exchange for a Toci's harness or something. That would make my day!

crystals don't go in the rare slot... if you got a crystal in the top slot that means you just plain didn't get a rare slot that kill. Anything you get multiples of isn't the "rare slot" item.

I get frustrated finding them in ANY slot to be quite honest. A flint stone off of a level 1 worm holds more value than a petrifact.

I'm sure the exchange rate would be more like 500 million petrifacts for a Toci's Harness. They might let you trade 500 for a petrified log... maybe...

I just threw a number out there, I'm certain it would be a lot higher given they actually decided to empliment this idea, however I seriously doubt it. I'd just like a use for them instead of just having in the event I do a provenance run, which isn't often at all.

I was thinking that Love torque and Shadow gorget, (or other items of the same time) could be mergable through Syenergy, perhaps by turning both items into scraps and being able to imprint it onto another.

Which had me thinking they also have the elemental weaponskill belts in abyssea along with the combat skill headband piece, I think making better gear obtainable in older content would be good really.

I also think that the Salvage gear isn't good enough with +1 versions as well and I would like to see +2 versions of that gear. Hopefully having the +2 be more comparable to Neo Nyzul gear.

Lastly, I would enjoy it if we had Artifact +2 armor.

Would be nice for the craft guilds to come out with an item that would be purchasable with guild points (say 20~50k) that could teleport you to your said guild.

Nexus cape... make it actually do what the text states it does. Teleports you to the party leader. Should not matter if it's not an original area or there is a flower in the wrong place of the map.

Make movement gear stackable. (Red legs, fajin, aketon)

Why not? People *** clipper around anyways.

And they should be banned for it.
Goodbye 1/3 of the player base, lol

Would be glad to see them go honestly. There are quite a few blatant idiotic clipper users on my server that constantly run around @ flee speed with no logical explanation as to how they're doing it.

Ninja shurikens sold at vendors for reasonable prices, more high level shurikens (craftable) so Sange doesn't seem so useless, maybe an infinite ammo shuriken that doesn't have crap damage,
