Wii U Launch Date, Price Announced!
sd2snes is the one you're thinking of I think,
Quote: CPU: "Espresso" CPU on the Wii U has three enhanced Broadway cores GPU: "GPU7" AMD Radeon-based High Definition GPU. Unique API = GX2, which supports Shader Model 4.0 (DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.3 equivalent functionality) source: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/wii-u-nintendo-game-console-hardware,17521.html these were leaked specs before the announcement, so still unconfirmed but considering they were right about everything else they listed there is almost no reason assume it's incorrect. my only problem is DirectX 10 =/= next gen. that is considered current gen. though nintendo has never been about graphics power, which is fine by all means, i think my only beef with it is that nintendo will be holding next gen games back in terms of graphics from other next gen consoles, like they did with their wii since most 3rd party dev's wanted to make games they could port on each system. would also like to take a second and say i am by no means a nintendo hater, i just didn't like the wii at all and everything after gamecube (minus handhelds) has been very out of my taste. I think the wiimote is silly and i would rather not play games with it ._. Snes will always be my favorite system from my childhood days. (and even now i like to replay some games on emulator once in a while) To be fair, they were wrong about the Memory. Has 2 gb, not 1 gb and 32 mb.
I dont think the Wii U is going to hold back next gen games because I think its very unlikely that the top developers will develop games for the Wii U, they will likely design them for PS4/420 and port them over. Or they wont even make it for the Wii U if they dont think it will make them any money.
Eh, the fact that they are getting a lot of 3rd party support right out of the gate makes me hopeful.

I still think the key to the Wii U succeeding in terms of bringing back the players that have left Nintendo is a competitive online system that can go up against Live and PSN. And I think we will know pretty quickly if it succeeds in that area with Black Ops 2.

Eh, graphics are plateauing out now anyway, the difference between current and next gen graphics ain't gonna be that big a deal, so making a next gen game for PS4 and xbox 540/720/900/whatever then dialing down the graphics for Wii U will be A: generally not necessary and B: not that hard if it is.

Otherwise functions flawlessly.. I've been using emulators since before there were even English ones available, back before nesticle changed everything, and I must say, there may be no such thing as a perfect flash cart but there's certainly no such thing as a perfect emulator even in this day and age. I just can't stand glitches meh, I can think of 2 emulators that are either perfect or near perfect, but both SNES, others not so much. A guy was working on a perfect flash cart, but idk where he was in the project as of late, I'd have to hunt it down again. (lol nesticle, emulator was great). Best Emulators > NES: znesw GBA: Visual Boy Advance (Can do gameboy games as well) NDS: Desmume 0.9.8 (The modified version of 9.7 can connect to Nintendo network. Play NDS games on Wi-fi) N64: Project 64 1.7.0.50 (Can play games in better quality) PS1: ePSXe 1.7 (Use 1.6 for disc changing. Requires Pete's Graphics plugin.) PS2: PCSX2 1.0 These emulators are very good. They haven't let me down yet. Edit: They do function with PS2/X360 controllers except for Snes emulator. forgot snes in that list.
A friend of mine really likes bsnes, I'm rather fond of Snes9x, considering I only play like two or three dozen or so games, that are rather popular, no issues. and yeah out of the ones I use I have those, (don't really use a nes emulator anymore, or a ds) I use daemon tools to switch my discs, so it acts like a real drive, since I use it anyway for other things, and it's given me less bugs. I don't have PCSX2 configured right, computer hangs a bit on it, when I know I've gotten it to work before. (oh another note: I've been really into trying to get SNES, GBA, NES, and hopefully PSX emulation on my Raspberry Pi, I'd probably have to do a source port and compile directly on the device for proper emulation, and I'd like to do it from as low of an OS as possible (the current main OS for it is a modified debian with a gui, been trying SNES first, but tbh I haven't gotten bsnes (which is ported already) to start, and I can't get the already ported VBA to see my controllers, (tried logitech 310?, and a snes via usb adapter (the linux wouldn't see the logitech one at all, but it did see the usb adapter for the snes controller, I was trying to just use USB for my project, I know somebody already linked a mod somebody did to input via the gpio on the board, but that's not really for here) (basically was working on a portable snes, I know some exist, but as far as emulation goes (save states ftw) I find it's easier than working with actual hardware, that and the two portable's I've seen are $60 and $75 respectively and idk how well they're made, and flash carts aren't exactly cheap, this thing was $35). Should try Desmume 0.9.8. Runs on Linux/Windows/Mac and it runs games on perfect quality. Perfected Legend of Zelda, Advance Wars, Pokemon all versions. I haven't tried other games yet. The pokemon games require patching to work them properly starting from Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
well tbh, I only need to get it working in theory, I'm mostly going to be testing the hardware accessories I'll be using, just want the software working before I invest in the hardware, what other people use is their business :D
And people talk about Nintendo and Gimmicks.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/19/is-microsoft-working-on-wearable-xbox-controllers Can we play FFXI on it? :D

(November) Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper (Holiday) Wheel of Fortune (November) Pretty damn nice launch list i'd say. I hope Nintendo expands upon their virtual console and introduces some Gamecube games. I rather not pay $100+ for a copy of Wind Waker if it can be helped.
Ninja Gaiden 3 was trash, hope they improve on it for the Wii U launch.
Ninja Gaiden 3 is a totally different game for the Wii U.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/19/tgs-ninja-gaiden-3-razors-edge-repairs-past-mistakes was hoping I wouldn't have to buy a Wii-U until the inevitable re-release in a year or two, but it's becoming harder and harder to resist temptation.
Meh not really, all I really see there is ZombiU.
On our side it's going for £260. Seems a bit pricey really and a 8GB memory that's tiny. It's interesting tech but this is a mistake they're making again. Like the Nintendo 3DS that had to be price cutted.
They have external memory drives, but I agree its a lil too expensive, just like the 3DS was.
For a new consle, 350 is fine really. Considering the 360 was 450+ and the PS3 was 600+
This is one of the strongest launch titles ive seen. Ninja Gaiden 3 and Batman have been out but Ninja Gaiden is getting a pretty big reboot on it and Batman is going to be GOTY + Wii U exclusive content. Tekken Tag is getting that as well and Mass Effect 3 will come with all the DLC out so far with it. Epic Mickey comes out on that date anyways and Assassin's Creed 3 will only be about 2 weeks old at that point. Lot of good games to play at launch. I've probably missed it somewhere in the thread, but is there a reason that the memory capacity is so small? Is it using some sort of expensive SSD?
Nintendo said they wanted to keep cost down as much as they could since memory has been dropping in price so rapidly. Might just something to do with that. I'd guess 8gb-32 gb is enough for save files and VC titles.
What size SD card does it use, if any?
I don't think it comes with an SD card from what i've read. Should just be internal.
yea but surely includes an expansion slot of some sort since that was the point of the low memory anyways? In any case yeah, it should be ok for VC and saves, just hoping they don't release anything with big downloads or anything.
