Food for thought: If the entire world became homosexual and I mean EVERYONE!!!!!! Take away artficial insemination...in approximately 150 years, I can tell you what the Earth's human population will be.
What does this have to do with anything?

Are you kidding? Less consumption of resources. Less footprint on the planet. Less demand to drive up the cost of living. *** I wish at least 30% more of the population were gay. Adopt all those family less kids and leave more women for me.

Just don't expect me to enjoy watching you make PDA >.> ugh (in my defense i think all PDA is *** disgusting regardless of orientation).

And you can keep buying me drinks at the bar :D

Camera phone, the pictures come out fuzzy with the iphone4s if you hold it at the base(shaking). So I usually hold with index finger/palm to stabilize it more.

We can't stop these things from happening now, but by maturing culturally, they will die out with their generations.
I wish I could believe that.
We still haven't quite stamped out racist ideology and discrimination runs rampant still but we've made significant process in a relatively short span of time.
I admit that my foreboding lacks giving things adequate enough time. But that's only because I'm focused on the immediate future, not the eventual one. This time seems turbulent, and any reflection on an eventual future may be irrelevant if we can't get through the next 10 to 20 years.

A civil war was fought over the changes you speak of. I'm not suggesting that you didn't know this, only reminding you myself and everyone that time itself does not heal all wounds. Some of them need to be fought and paid for with blood.

200 years from now, I can't possibly say. I do hope that the civil rights movement at least has evolved past the arrangement we have today. Or maybe I should do as Morgan Freeman so adequately suggested, and stop talking about it.

(Though I don't understand the bystander comment. Can't tell if that's a dig or a passing tangent),
I meant simply that what you said was well put and comprehensible, and that I as a viewer should have left it be instead of commenting on it. I didn't even want to say this much, I just don't like feeling that you thought I may have somehow tried to insult you.

Hate sin and not the sinner. By far the wrong way to address this. If you can't love your own son who you can see, how can you love God who you cannot see? Smh

I know it's just me being a weirdo, but the "hate the sin, not the sinner" attitude drives me nuts.

For one, it's as much of a 'sin' as planting corn and radishes in the same garden plot. Both are outlawed by god.

For two, it's not really anyone's business if or how other people 'sin,' so if someone says they "hate the sin" I more or less just think "good for you, and moving on."

For three, (and this is REALLY me just being a weirdo) I get such a snooty vibe from it. Kind of like saying "hate the sin, not the sinner" is similar to saying "I am just so much better than you because I 'sin' differently than you do, but I suppose I will be your friend anyways, because how else could I be self-righteous? You should thank me for it, by the way."

Of course vibes are nothing serious and like I said, I'm just a fruit basket. I'm sure no one actually means to come across as snobby and self-righteous when they say stuff like that. It just annoys me, is all.

Anyhow. Relevant:

Anyways. It's sad when parents expect their children to be cloned-copies of themselves, to not have their own identities, own opinions, own feelings. But I suppose it's true of every parent. Parental love is always conditional. They love you on the condition that you live your life in a way they approve of. Even the god that this father (real or not) is following has only conditional love. "Hi, Jesus loves you! If you believe in him, accept him, spread the word about him, be his slave for the rest of your life, and don't doubt him or change your mind, that is. Otherwise, have fun in hell. But don't forget he loves you!"

Technically speaking the hate the sin not the sinner statement is flawed from the get go as the Bible says it's not anyone (but God's) place to judge anyone.. It doesn't list exemptions of when it's okay or acceptable, it's just never okay, period.. So the second someone judges someone, (at least in theory and in god's eyes) they're already on equal footing (and not better) of the person they're judging. They're both 'sinners'.

You're not a weirdo. It's a religiously "polite" way of saying "you're probably going to hell but don't take it personal k thanks".

The change won't happen now. Probably not in our lifetime. It's an unfortunate truth.

I assumed it was a tangent since there wasn't any apparent hostility, so no worries there.

I actually hate to bump this thread; I wish there was a sage function.

It's been said, but you're certainly not a weirdo. If anything what I perceive as being overly modest contrasts with the self-righteous of whom you speak, and maybe that was intentional, or maybe it wasn't.

Finally, those who hate the sin and not the sinner so to speak, are at least being more Christian than most said advocates can claim to be. It's easy to hate a man, but to spare him that and hate what he has done instead is closer to the original vision the man, if he even existed, ever had.

And hating a man and hating a man for what he has done are probably the same thing. I challenge myself to look for redeeming values in various belief systems; ultimately it's so seemingly contradictory that I'd have to abandon objectivity to comment.

I think I'll join you in your fruit basket.

Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the Chick-Fil-A thread...Oh well! It has to do with Pat Robertson and the 700 Club so its semi-relevant to this topic

Gay Chick-Fil-A Protesters Should 'Shut Their Mouth' Until They Can Produce Children

Pat Roberts on Gay Protestors via HuffingtonPost

"an abomination for a man to lie with a man as with a woman" -Pat Robertson

"I defy these homosexuals to bring forth a baby from that part of the anatomy which they concentrate on" -Pat Robertson

This is the same dude who supports ex-gay conversion and believes homosexuality is a form of DEMONIC POSSESSION!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Something about hating the sin not the sinner.... I kinda hate this dude after hearing him talk lol
All we can do is influence where the overarching ideologies go through our daily actions, convictions and the strength of our arguments. We're not likely to see a world where discrimination and bigotry are completely eliminated but that doesn't mean we can't cause some minor changes within our limited lifespans.
I look at it as a relay race where the best you can do is to handle your leg of the race, arm the future with knowledge and leave the rest to subsequent generations. It may be a grim outlook if you're expecting a Saturday morning cartoon resolution to issues but what time period isn't turbulent? What time period hasn't had conflict on a variety of issues? Every major change is the result of numerous individuals taking action and so here we as links on the chain of events.
The choice is ours to do nothing or influence something.
And all we can do as individuals is try to avoid our current conflicts from escalating into protracted bloodshed. There is no guarantee that we can prevent some theoretical war in the future from happening but every individual that speaks up against what I see as the oppression of a minority group is working towards preventing lives from being wrecked and creating an overall more interlinked human race.
Also, Pat Roberson is evil.
I don't like to use the term all willy-nilly but does he remind me of Palpatine every time I'm forced to see his mug.
