http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/adoulin/index.html Please, please be final.
They just released the patch to increase the amount of storage the ps2/ps3 users can use on their HDD for ffxi... i doubt they would drop ps2 support lol
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
I"m just surprised there isn't more talk about it, seems like a big deal the teaser site doesn't mention ps2 as being supported by said expansion. They'll prolly continue to let ps2 users play the rest of the game but if they wish to play the new expansion they'll either have to get a 360 or a pc for XI.
I heard the JP site said it would be on PS2.
ya jp site says ps2 but not the english. its most likely just a translation fail.
Also as i said previously they put in the patch that they increased the ps2 users hdd space from 10-12MB to 19MB... which is preparing them for a big update. son of a bumble
maybe the PS2 version is JP only

New jobs and areas don't mean ***,until they get rid of ps2.
glad to see it get dropped... did you see the content! NEW ZONES!
not re-hashed. new JOBS! ZOMG its been since TAU... this will be interesting! i was noticing a lack in content these last few updates and to be honest i spent very little time playing... this will certainly change that! sorry PS2 users but SE should of dropped the support within the second year of PS3 being out. i mean. EVERYONE should have a PC that can handle the game or upgraded to PS3 by then.. heck even my cell phone meats the minimum system requirements :/ Ragnarok.Zatoichi said: » maybe the PS2 version is JP only Could this possibly be the case? Ive never seen a PS2 copy of ffxi anywhere in the UK anyway. However when ToAU was released which was the last big town expansion the whole game was re-released again including most of the updates up to that point for the xbox copy and later an ultimate copy for PC. So if they did that would the ps2 require much HD space at all then? Maybe it would be a good idea for them to do it like this an all in 1 disc again so its more user friendly to new players. Which I hope it is and we get lots of new faces. Another possible reason PS2 logo wasnt showed for the EU video or a reason they might not want ps2 copy of ffxi in a shop along side pc and xbox360 copies might be that it highlights the graphic engine is old enough to run on a ps2, which could put people off. But yeah never seen a PAL PS2 copy of any expansion in the ffxi series in any shop around the south east of England, I assume its only really bought online. @ Danz I dont think it has been confirmed at all for sure, how comes you seem so positive? I must agree not seeing the ps2 logo at the end of that video did feel promising but it meerly suggests, its not proven. thank god. seriously, PS2 brings so many problems to the game, it was a joke they supported it so long. as said, many tablets and even some smarthphones can run FFXI better than PS2.
die PS2 die! welcome to 2012!
Shiva.Ergiyios said: » Oh confirmed then, cool. I wonder how much Microsoft paid SE to also make that page/color scheme mostly green. It seems to highlight the fact its xbox/pc exclusive even more imo. While opting to leave the PS2 logo out is reason to believe ps2 will no longer be supported, what I dont understand is why would SE go through the effort to increase the partition when there was still plenty of room left on most ps2 HDs unless they were prepping it to actually need more space?

Which I hope it is and we get lots of new faces. If they remove Ps2 then i think they will lose a lot of players. I been a Ps2 player since it was released in NA. I maybe had one or 2 issues with it but nothing to crazy. I hope it is a typo and will be adjusted. @ppl hating on Ps2... the game wont change drastically without PS2 so why continue to complain? And yes mobile phones and Tablets may play ffxi better but my ps2 doesnt run out of batteries in 1 hr... Phoenix.Unicron said: » If they remove Ps2 then i think they will lose a lot of players. At this point if they arent willing to migrate to a PC or a current generation console, then good riddance. Given how many people threaten to quit this game and ultimately don't, I dont see this happening at all. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should be playing this game on a PS2 anymore, a $50 PC at the thrift store can run it, you can get a refurb 360 or PS3 for about $100 if you keep an eye out for a good deal. Odin.Maddii said: » thank god. seriously, PS2 brings so many problems to the game, it was a joke they supported it so long. as said, many tablets and even some smarthphones can run FFXI better than PS2. oh really? please tell us what these problems are that the ps2 brings to the game? As for the thread: The PS2 will still support it (evidenced by there's no reason for it not to), but there won't be a disc for it, unless they somehow managed to acquire the equipment to press X amount of discs, which is unlikely. It will probably be a download only expansion, which is better for everyone. As for the PS2 haters: seriously the bandwagon PS2 hating is so outdated and misguided it's not funny, do some research instead of jumping on the bandwagon. I don't know what all this BS is about not being able to press PS2 games anymore. They still make crappy sports game ports, no reason why they couldn't release a PS2 copy of the expansion in limited quanities like they always have in the past.
You guys need to move away from PS2 anyway. Seriously. Glad and hope they stop support for it. The game can finally make those much needed changes. PS2 has been doing nothing but holding the game back.
Btw they arnt completely outcasting PS2 Players it looks like. Just wont be able to access the new expansion features. Ps2 wont even get the option to download the data ,considering the HDD can't hold anything else without exploding. So PS2 players can still play, but if you want to someday be able to enjoy the content, then jump in your time machine and move into 2012 with the rest of us. Seriously, do some research and learn that a 300MHZ processor is just as powerful as a 3.2GHz processor! I mean, 6GFLOPS is really close to 280~GFLOPS in terms of raw computational power :) Orrrrrrrrrr the simple fact that dropping the weakest link and fixing the architecture does, in fact, lead to a better time. People can rejoice and throw parties when the ps2 isn't supported any longer all they want. If you think that means they are going to start caring about this game or really make it great and take advantage of the power of pc...you are crazy. With no ps2 we would still get the same weak stuff we have been getting.

(worth mentioning that the 20gb 360 and the 20gb ps3 won't be able to support this new size). so yeah, learn what you're talking about, do research, instead of jumping on the bandwagon: see above post. Why does everyone just keep saying the same things over and over again. Who the hell cares what people prefer to play on. It would be easier if everyone just faced the music and realized PS2 will never be dropped from FFXI. The partition required for FFXI was just increased to 19GB or so in this last update so it will have no problem with the extra data. It's unlikely that they bother with the cost of producing CDs for PS2 discs when they can just have it up for download. I wouldn't be surprised if it was downloadable for PC/360 as well. |
