So, I debated not posting about this at all, because a) it's embarrassing as hell, and b) I'm probably going to get trolled a fair bit.
I'm the type of person that literally always triple checks when I toss things, or buys things out of bazaar or ah that's worth more than 50k. The worst I've done in ~7 years of playing, is accidentally tab down in the ah and not notice while bidding, and bid 40k on the wrong pair of shoes.
This morning I was tired and grumpy, and overly derpy. I barely slept the night before, and finally just dragged myself out of bed and decided to go AE cleave my whm mule or something. I was sorting through my inventory, and noticed I had a Vermeil Bhuj in my inventory from doing Glavoids last night. I thought I was on it, but apparently I wasn't - the next thing I saw in my log was "You throw away a Mandau." I'm not looking for any sympathy, I should've been taking a lot more care with what I had selected. I'm well aware it was my own dumbass fault. Pretty much the very first time I wasn't extremely anal about checking what I was tossing, and it cost me very dearly.
Anyways, on to my point. Obviously, I placed a GM call immediately. A normal GM replied to me pretty quickly, however I was told that they can't restore the item because "the mandau is an item that contains internal data (being a trial weapon), and is not something we can recover", nor will they do a rollback to this morning before I tossed it. They won't reimburse the LV75 version, either. I asked to talk with a SGM, and am still waiting (this was at about 8am this morning, it's now nearly 4PM).
Andddddddd.. on to my other points. What the hell is the point of having some awesome "1 time restore per account" if they can't even restore big ticket items like a relic?
Now, just out of curiosity, if I get the same line from a SGM, how much more should I push to have it restored? There was recently just a case where someone had their Lv90 Almace restored. I don't understand how they can restore an Empyrean weapon, which is nothing but trials from start to end, but not a Relic weapon, which was part of the game YEARS before the concept of magian trials were even in game. I've seen so many lines of "we can't restore this or that" but then someone turns around and posts screenshots of GMS doing exactly what another GM said they couldn't (a restored black belt, A.body abjuration, and recently that almace all come to mind).
I'm hoping the SGM will be a little more helpful, but I'm honestly not holding my breath.
Does anyone know of any other cases where items like this were restored? Should I be the least little bit hopeful that a sgm will be sympathetic?
At any rate, TL;DR - be careful what you toss, because according to this GM's policy, if you toss anything like a relic, mythic, or empyrean, they can't restore it. Again, not looking for any sympathy, just a warning to be very careful tossing things if you're near any gear that you hold dear.
Some guy just recently bumped his own thread about losing his almace to a glitch and finally getting it restored after 6 months of investigation.
This is not meant to discourage you, rather to encourage you to check in with GMs and SGMs until your point is taken. Almace is just as much of a trial weapon as Mandau, so I don't see why they shouldn't be restoring your relic.
icr the name of the thread, but some guy got his 90 almace that he tossed back from a gm, when they originally said they couldn't do it. Idk why they could give him his almace but not your mandau.

They should and I hope they do return it to you. However, the statement on that normal GM is full of Mierda
Call. Call and e-mail and send in-game GM calls. Every day, every hour, that they are open, until they all know you. One of them will eventually take pity on you or do it just to get you to go away. I know if I lost my Mandau, I'd be pissed as hell.
On another note, the code exists for "you cannot throw away this item" (try tossing a storage slot moogle slip with something still on it, can't be done) so I don't see why this isn't implemented already with relics and (level 80+) empys.
1) How on earth do you accidentally drop a relic manually. Maybe if your autosorter bot or something did it I would understand, but to manually do it...?
2) *** enough and anything can/will get restored. Someone needs to link the black belt restored thread
At any rate, you should keep trying over and over, like others have said, and remember, at least it wasn't your Mjollnir
Ah that sucks. I can see how it can happen though. In the sense that once I click on something to drop I don't really pay attention to the "are you sure.." window. I hope they can restore it for you, best of luck.

Like I said, I barely slept the night before. I thought I was on/tossing the gaxe, but I guess not. I suffer from what's known as Cluster Headaches (basically a migraine on steroids that can/does last for months-years at a time) - this cluster has been going on since about Feb. I've been to the ER twice in the past week in a half - the admittance nurses are actually starting to get to know me now. (The pain just gets to a point where I could swallow an entire bottle of painkillers and it'd be like using a band-aid after getting ran over by a train. As a comparison for pain levels - I went through a 30 hour labor with my first child, who was 9lbs8ozs, and I'm not even 5ft tall IRL - it ended in an emergency c-section that didn't go over very well. That 30 hours of labor is like a mosquito bite compared to the pain that comes along with cluster headaches, and I'm literally not exaggerating in the least)
For the most part, I'm pretty heavily medicated (hence why I said I was derpy) which is why I'm usually extremely anal about what I toss/buy in-game, but today I was just tired and trying to rush and just wasn't paying enough attention. I didn't bother really posting that in the OP, because again - not looking for sympathy or trying to make excuses. I've been dealing with this kinda stuff since I was about 12-13 years old, and I should know better by now to pay more attention to things when I'm medicated. So bottom line, I have no one to blame but myself. Still waiting for SGM, and can only hope they're a little bit sympathetic.
You made a mistake when you asked to contact a SGM. Because of this, you are delaying yourself. Keep calling them, try to get new GMs specificaly (different hour).
Worst case, make a thread on the official forums, something just to explain your situation and try to attract players' support. This way, all the staff will see it and they'll probably reach the point where they want to make an exception.
GL though, it all depends on if you can reach someone who wants to bypass this rule limitation.

trust me when the head gm gets to u they will i needed to call a gm one time when i was doing endgame and was unable to give them my problem 1 hour later a new one contacted me so yes i can say the people over at the gm system or what ever u want to call it 2 care about the people on the game.

btw do not tell the op to spam the report system or gm system that will get the op in to big trouble,u submitted 1 report log the time u dropped the item seeing as the sooner u get hold of the gm your looking for the better,i mean it when i say sooner the better after a set time window the time is lost, more or less.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Every account gets a 1 time restoration. If you have already used it you're ***. If you haven't they should be able to restore your item.
If they still won't restore your item. Get a friend that has never logged into your account to log in, mess around, and log out. Then go to SE Support, say your account was compromised, complete a notery and mail in an account restoration form. After that just say your account was breached a day before your mandau was thrown out. It will most likely work.

Do you have a trial number on your mandau before you toss it? Or you mean any trial weapon they can't restore?
just gotta say, thats completely horrid. #1 no other game I know of has this "1 time restore" nonsense. #2 why in the hell can they not roll back or replace the item, even if its just the 75 version? im so confused. I'll spam GM calls for 3 days asking WHY just because I DO feel sympathy for you. I've almost tossed my mandau on accident a few times. But thats because I drink alot :D fyi a good practice is sticking it sack/satchel/safe/locker w.e. @ job change, and equpping it as soon as u switch to job that can wear it. Although sleepytime/drunkness/ omg boobs in my face can distract people. Hope things work out for you ;;
They can restore an item with a trial, relic too at that. I had a similar situation with one of my old accounts. I had a trial on my gungnir and had it tossed. They restored it, but only to the base 75. Even though I had the trial open they wouldn't revert it to the one on the previous trial. You should be fine just keep giving them hell until it's restored.
That is majorly awful....can't imagine being in that position. I once /tossed my Suzaku's Scythe with good augments on it when I was drowning in uneeded cells during a Salvage run. That made me sad enough.
If it had been something like a 90+ empyrean, or a relic I would have str8 up poured gasoline on my gaming equipment. Lit the ***up, and forgot that I ever played the game in the 1st place.
