As far as the SNES's racing games went, Rock 'N Roll Racing was something completely unseen at it's release: You could blow up your competition, run them off the road, race different vehicles, and even super charge them.

All while listening to classic hair Metal lol.

Play Earthbound. Trust me you will be changed forever.

It's writing is beyond description. It defines what a "quirky" game should be. And in what other game does it let you take your time to relax after the final battle going back to EVERY NPC in the game to talk to them to see them say something new and congratulatory to you on completing such a feat as beating the final boss.

It's music is amazing. The characters are all unique. One character can't use magic so you already think "what use is he then?" Then you go to sleep in a hotel and find out he turned a broken useless item into a devastatingly damaging item. Absolute genius.

Using ATMs to access your money.

Getting homesick that is cured by calling your mom home.

Ordering pizza on the go to cure everyone to full.

Insta-win battles when your strong enough in the current Dungeon or beat the boss there so you don't have to fight everything on the way out(GENIUS!)

There's so many other points to make about Earthbound. Again I apologize for gushing lol.

I am sad that when I first really started playing Squaresoft games, games like Chrono Trigger and FF6 were a thing of the past, and I picked up FF7 8 and 9 as a kid.

However many years down the line, roughly two years ago, I heard of Chrono Trigger, and I played it on my playstation emulator.
It was absolutely amazing for me, the ability to go back and forth in time, the way your characters worked together, the music, and absolutely everything blew me away. I was hooked.

When I finally finished the game, I felt like I was stupid to have never picked up this game before, it would be awesome if I could use the Chrono Trigger, go back in time, somehow erase my own memory, and play it over again!

The game gave me that much inspiration, that I started to work on my own time based, fantasy/sci-fi novel called Infinity: Warriors of Time. The storyline is pretty different of course, but the characters in Chrono Trigger showed me what kind of characters work well together, so I was able to create my own bunch of (what I believe to be) awesome characters.

Recently my friend was having trouble with his computer, I fixed it for him, and decided to put some old games on there, so he can play them when he gets bored. Of course I banged Chrono Trigger on there, hoping he would pick it up and play it, over games like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy and Command and Conquer... And guess what? He did!

He told me he is enjoying the game so far, and this is a guy who jumps around from game to game like a trampolinist. He is enjoying the game, and hasn't even gone time traveling yet! I look forward to seeing him sometime soon, and discussing the awesomeness that is Chrono Trigger.

After I cleared Chrono Trigger, I made sure to get all the best tunes and put them on my Windows Media player playlist, and on my MP3 player, so wherever I go, I can hear the awesomeness

I kinda wish this thread had that music on auto-repeat, just to make it that much more awesome. One of my favorite scenes to play in Chrono Trigger was busting him out of jail, even after the evidence had overwhelming proven Crono's innocence, and the jury had voted against incarceration. The Cnancellor was a bit of a *** though, and had him imprisoned anyways.

My jaw dropped when Chrono got killed. " O_o Main character dead? WHAT! O_O " Blew my mind as I had not played a game that did that before.

I think Chrono Trigger was the first game I ever played with multiple endings, I remember talking with my friend after he beat it and we had totally different endings. We ended up combining our allowances and buying the guide to figure it out.

Everytime I see Queen Zeal I recall the battle theme reserved for the badass bosses.

I love this game so much. I plan to replay it with New Game+ this summer after my exams. My brother got it for Christmas, but he's being lazy and not finishing it (he's not even that far into the game), focusing on League of Legends. QQ (Yes if you read this, finish the damn game! sakfhdsjfhjghlh!)
I love the music, the freedom and overall feel of this game. Was so happy when it came out for the DS, as I am not a big fan of emulating games.

I wonder if this is why I like goobbues so much... maybe they remind me of these guys. They are both so cute! And Chrono Trigger is indeed the best game ever. Was worth hacking into my brother's comp when I was little to play, changed my life. :o

This game was so amazing I just had to read every single post on this forum. IMO SNES came out with the best rpgs and no other system has come even close to the amazingness of games that system shelled out. Definitely downloading it on my ps3 even after playing it dozens of times on SNES, PS, and DS. Plus something you all might enjoy, made me as giddy as a 12 year old at a Justin Beiber concert.

It just sucks now that kids nowadays wont touch a game that doesnt have state of the art 3d graphics or voice acting, so they dont ever know about these amazing games from back in the day. CR would have opened something up to them that they might have never tried.

Bumping because I'm playing Chrono Trigger right now!

That moment when the Black Wind begins to howl...right before you engage Magus... <3 Easily one of my favorite fights in the game.

The buildup of battling your way through his huge castle ending with the climactic fight with Magus....*squee*

I feel like voice acting took away any bit of imagination left in games. I'd rather read the text myself. I usually always turn subtitles on no matter what game I'm playing.

I do too! For that reason and because my roommates are usually loud and I cant hear the characters speaking >.< lol

Neat game I thought of~
How many games like Chrono Trigger can you think of where the main character is silent the entire game?

When I fist played through the game I was genuinely convinced that Magus was the final boss. The castle, the walkway, that music, all the towns folk in 1000 A.D., everything just built him up to be such a badass.

I particularly loved the black omen as the final dungeon, and how if you used magus in your party against queen zeal at the end you would have his battle theme play instead of the normal boss 2 theme.
