I'm not saying it won't happen, it's just really unlikely. Sometimes it's just best to write things up as a loss. I for one wish I got into pokemon way back when. I didn't, and now I think it's lame, and now other people think I'm lame for thinking it's lame. They also think I have no soul (I'm not ginger) With the Pokemon games, unless you're still a fan of the show or read the manga or w/e I find you're unlikely to get into the newer games as there will be just a bunch of pokemon you have no idea about what they are, it was certainly a huge turnoff for me when I was playing Pearl version, I had no idea what types a lot of the pokemon were, what they were strong or weak to so it made the game a lot less enjoyable.
My generation was the original 151 so I could quite comfortably get into my first game which was yellow version and I just about found myself able to play through Crystal as it was only another 100 pokemon to get used to.

FFVII (Still waiting for the remake, and i will play it even when i´m 80 years old, ran through the game 20+ times, with all thinks done that u could do)
FFVIII (Nice Story, good competition with Omega weapon fight w/o the item that makes u into Godmode for a few sec.)
FFX (Awesome story, really hard to kill black anima´s w/o Jujimbo)
FFIX, was a fail in my opinion, everythink looked so childish....),
All the xxx-2 i didnt even played, bc i felt like "Hey we got the same story and charas, pass us money for doin nothing"
FFXIV - Biggest fail SE ever done.

Nah, being "most memorable" is really subjective. Also, you listed almost half the series, lol.
I still play FF1 here and there, 20 years after I first bought it, albeit usually in ROM form.
Theres me thinking this is the "What is your fav top 3 ff games" thread. Obviously its going to be subjective for everyone its not a you can only like these 3 games or gtfo thread. So dont go around telling people nah thats not your fav game and thats just a few games off a long list.

Then where do you get off thinking I told anyone else what game not to like? I mentioned "most memorable" because they mentioned half the games in the series, jokingly, and just blurbed about a game I still play from time to time, one that I find quite memorable?
Seriously, you misread something.

XI >> 6 >> Crystal Chronicles
I know a lot of people only tried Crystal Chronicles alone and have bad experiences, but playing with 3 other buddies was just awesome. Definitely some of the most fun I've had with a game. It's just too bad the multiplayer is such a pain to set up.
Worst part about X-2 for me was the music. I liked the job system.
You should really give it another listen! I think there's quite a few good tracks, maybe you're just letting your dislike of the game taint your memory?

Well i didnt say anything about ff1. The key word is nah which also means no so in this context when i wrote down the games i found most memorable and you say no that means its wrong or not the correct answer. Since this thread is all about that persons opinion on what they like it cant be wrong.

Nobuo Uematsu or GTFO for FF music, IMO.
They butchered Mt. Gagazett music :/

Agreed multiplayer in that game was alot of fun especially boss fights!
It was one of the few games I ever got to connect my gameboy advanced to my gamecube for too.

I never played CT when I was younger but I did play CC and I loved it so much. :x I'm tempted to buy CT now but I'm unsure if I'll like it.
I really liked Chronocross too, but CC and CT are very, very different.

To each their own. It's not the best soundtrack in the series for me, but the jazzy/fusiony stuff was a unique direction for FF, and I like it for that.
Also, the original Gagazett is a Hamauzu song, not Uematsu. :P

FF7- Is my favorite of all time. The hype factor that it had back when it was released was tremendous, and all of my friends had it. The story and gameplay were superb for it's time. What made it more interesting for me was the rivalry between my friends to see who found what materia, who had the most enemy skills and who's materia setup was best.
FF12- I knew this game was gonna be pure win as soon as i played it. Overall i thought the game was almost perfect, the storyline was what killed my decision. Lots of people got frustrated with the license grid to learn new abilities and to equip better gear and weapons, but personally i thought Square did a good job with that. Also, the ability to take on some pretty tough hunts from the beginning of the game was awesome(who got Yoichi bow at level 11? This guy!!) Also, Fran and her sister Jote were bangin.
FF13-2- At first i wasn't going to buy this game, but when Square released a demo of it onto PSN, i gave it a shot. Loved it! It didn't feel like traditional Final Fantasy games, it felt more like what i call it, Chrono Trigger 2012. The storyline was actually pretty good to me, and of course the Paradigm system is by far the best battle system to date in the Final Fantasy series(i am a huge fan of the materia system, but i've convinced myself that this on is better.) The story gets kinda dark little by little(not like Harry Potter if that's what you're thinking.) Also, if you've gotten the secret ending along with the Lightning DLC, the story gets deeper. Visuals, gameplay, fantastic soundtrack and lots of humor made this game into my top 3.
Edit: These choices are going by the title of this thread. Some of my other favorites were Valkyrie Profile, Legend of Legaia & Chrono Trigger.

If you're going to pick apart words, how about using the word "most" and citing half the entire series. Again, I never mentioned anything about you being wrong in any way for your fave picks. Reading comprehension for the win.

Sorry if that's somehow confusing

FFIV - The quintessential Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - *** you, I enjoyed it and it had an awesome soundtrack.

Ah ok. I misread it as something more along the lines of "it's good because nostalgia goggles", which sort of discounted the fact that the game itself is actually pretty solid.

I definitely do agree that nostalgia is a huge factor in how people rate games. However I didn't get to play Chrono Trigger until ~4 years ago when it came out on DS (never picked it up for SNES, unfortunately), and I loved it. :P
I think it really is just a legitimately great game.

Quote: I never played Chrono Trigger, people spoke highly of it so I was kind of hoping it was on PSN, it wasn't. Please don't do this to yourself. If you play it, go for the SNES or DS versions as the PS1 port suffers from extreme load times that make it a chore to play through. The only reason I even finished the PS1 version is because it was the first version I ever owned; I was until then always upset with myself for never finishing it on SNES when I borrowed it from a friend back in the day.

Agreed completely. My wife and I are both huge FF fans, but we're on opposites sides of the eras. I love 1-6, but don't care for much after. She's a 7-12 fan (we both hate 13).
She started the series with 7, so she has a harder time sitting through the early games. I started with 1, so I appreciate them more, I remember when they were the peak of gaming technology for their time. I wasn't into the big jump from sprites to polygons with 7, and didn't have a playstation at the time it came out, so 7 didn't really catch my attention.

I for one didn't play Chrono Trigger until I was about 16-17(I'm 23 now). And yes it stands the test of time wonderfully. I played it to get every ending all 12. Then when the DS re-release came out I had it on pre-order before even knowing it had a 13th ending. That's how great a game CT is. I own it's OST. My ringtone is Frog's Theme. I replay CT about twice a year now.
It's getting myself to play CC is the issue. I love CT so much it's hard to play it's spiritual sequel. I even tried to play Radical Dreamers which is just a text based game.
Don't get me wrong CC is amazing too. Has some of the greatest music in gaming next to CT which is critically acclaimed to be the best OST in video game history. My thing with CC is I lost the characters I came to love so dearly and instead got like what 48 others? It's ludicrous how many party members are available throughout the different playthroughs.

I think it really is just a legitimately great game. Well... DS version is kind of cheating because it has a new translation with heavily reworked dialogue, not to mention the awesome animated cutscenes.
On that note, if you are going to give CT a go, make sure you do it on the DS because it is the best >_>

1: FFII (no i don't mean NA ffIV for snes)
i think this game gets less credit then deserved, it was one of the first 8-bit rpgs to really focus heavily on story and character developments. the leveling system was the most unique of the series i found, in that your stats and skill levels were based on your actions in battle, allowing you to customize a character in absolutly any way you wanted, dual wield polearm and a longbow while casting ultima? i think so! plus the game had the actual first dragoon (not kain) think his name was richard been too long.
2: Dissidia 2 Duodecum(sp)
story is junk i know, absolute garbage actually, but they did a great job on modernizing all their original 8 and 16 bit characters, and the game is LOADED with unlockables and challenges to grind, i only put it on #2 because of the 100s of hours ive put into the game trying to unlock everthing and its a great way to pass time when waiting for people/timers in ff11.
3: FFVII: Crisis Core
For being the only good FFVII extension game. great story, great CS and music, loads of side missions, and a perfectly executed final battle to the death scene for zack. and for reigniting the "will ff7 be on ps3?!" debate, with its post credits CS.

If you call the exclusion of anime stereotypes 0 depth, then yes.
Finding out Zidane and Vivi's origin was enticing to the player as well as watching Zidane slowly slip into self question and depression and then overcoming those through self growth and accepting who he is.
I wouldn't really call it "slowly". Unless after talking to everyone on Terra you decided to run around and do side quests. His "questioning himself" lasted for all of 15-30 minutes if you played through normally. Once his friends showed up to help him, it didn't take him long to snap out of it.
Quina had like no story. But I guess they were trying to make it mysterious. I didn't really get Amarant's motivation, either. The rest of them seemed to fit in well though. It's a good game, but Eikechi has a pretty solid point if you ask me.

I started my FF career with 7 and went back to play the earlier ones. I also only played Chrono Trigger a few years ago. I enjoyed it, but it didn't live up to the hype for me.
It definitely has some memorable music though. Frog's and Lucca's theme.
That reminds me to download Dream of a Shore Bordering Another World (other world CC world map song)

Character development is critical for me, and when you have 30+ of them, it becomes increasingly more difficult to give a ***about any of them and their 20 minute side story. Ugh. People saying they liked CC always catches me off guard.
easy just list what your top 3 favorite final fantasy games are.
for me it is
final fantasy 7 and any thing linking to final fantasy 7
final fantasy 10 and final fantasy 10-2
final fantasy tactics
i look forward to seeing what people think.
